網路世界的真真假假實在真假難測，
平時在 Instagram 看到許多漂亮的自拍或是食物照，
看起來都是經過修圖，究竟多少是真實的呢？
還是說像便利店的食物，圖片僅供參考？
今天就來用英文聊聊網路「照騙」吧！
Sofia 上週末發生了一件事，現在正在和 Bob 分享……
Sofia: So last weekend I finally met the guy I told you about.
Sofia：上週末我跟之前和你提過的那個男生見面了。
Bob: You mean Steve from the online dating website? How is he?
Bob：你是說交友網站的 Steve 嗎？他人如何？
Sofia: He’s really a nice person, we chatted a lot and had a lot in common, but …
Sofia：他人真的很好，我們聊了很多而且有很多共同點，不過…
Bob: Yeah?
Bob：不過怎樣？
Sofia: It’s just that… his photo on the dating website was a fake!
Sofia：就是…他在交友網站上方的照片完全是假的！
Bob: Oh my God, he’s obviously studied how to take a flattering photo!
Bob：哦天啊，很明顯他有研究怎麼拍「照騙」！
Sofia: Exactly! I mean, a little bit of retouching is okay, but in his case … it looks nothing like him!
Sofia：沒錯！我覺得一點點修圖是可以，但這個情況是… 這根本不是他！
看來 Sofia 受到了不少震驚！我們先來複習以下單字學學「修圖」的英文怎麼說吧！

fake (adj.) 假的
假的！一切都是假的！fake 這個形容詞的中文意思就是「假的」，也可以用來形容人「虛偽」。fake 也可以用來當名詞，意思是「贗品」。
I’ve bought some fake flowers from the store.
我從店裡買來了一些假花。Get lost with your fake sympathy!
帶著你虛偽的同情滾開！I thought I was going to be rich when I found what I thought was an antique coin in my deceased grandfather’s cabin, but it turned out to be a fake.
當我在我已逝祖父的櫥櫃裡找到一枚古老硬幣，我還以為自己要發了，結果原來只是贗品。
flattering photo (n.) 照騙
flattering 意指「奉承的；拍馬屁的；令人更顯漂亮的」，flattering photo 直翻就是「令人更顯漂亮的照片」，指的其實就是「照騙」。
She posted flattering photos to get more followers.
她發「照騙」來吸引更多人追蹤。
retouch (v.) 修圖
retouch 意指「修圖」，re- 這個字首有「再一次」的意味，touch 則是「碰觸」，retouch 字面意思即是「再碰一次」，是不是很有「修圖」的感覺呢？
She retouched her photo before she posted it online.
她先修了圖才把照片發上網。
現今網路上的照片真的不太能相信，Bob 的看法又是如何？
Bob: Haha you must have been shocked.
Bob：哈哈哈你一定很震驚。
Sofia: Totally. But I suppose nowadays there’s not many “real” photos on the Internet either.
Sofia：真的。但我想現在網路上也沒多少真實照片。
Bob: I agree. What with all the filters and the such even the food doesn’t seem real anymore.
Bob：我同意，有了濾鏡連食物看起來都不真實了。
Sofia: Especially when it comes to people’s selfies.
Sofia：尤其是人的自拍照。
Bob: That reminds me of some photos I saw on Instagram. Some people retouched their photos so much that they no longer looked like humans.
Bob：你讓我想到我在 Instagram 看到的一些照片。有些人修圖修到看起來都不像人了。
Sofia: I really can’t understand why anyone would do that.
Sofia：我真的不懂為什麼有人會要那麼做。
Bob: Yeah… they looked really phoney to me.
Bob：是啊…那樣看起來很做作。
看來 Bob 也見過很假的照片，只能說現在的社會，要看到完全真實的事物很難。

filter (n.) 濾鏡
filter 原指「過濾器」，但在攝影界則用來指「濾鏡」。
The weather in that photo looks so bad. Let’s put a filter on it!
照片裡的天氣看起來好差。套個濾鏡吧！
selfie (n.) 自拍照
selfie 的中文意思為「自拍照」，開頭的 self 指的其實就是「自己」。take a selfie 意指「拍自拍照」。
He took a selfie in front of the garden.
他在花園前拍了一張自拍照。
phoney (adj.) 做作的
phoney 為形容詞，用來形容人「做作的，虛偽的」，亦可拼寫為 phony。
I find phoney people distasteful. They’re always pretending to be something they’re not.
我覺得做作的人都很討厭，他們總是很愛裝模作樣。
