six years ago, Fresh out of university, I packed my bags and moved to Japan toe work as an English teacher where I found myself randomly placed in the beautiful, far flung region of Yamagata, along Japan's remote northwest coastline.
In the weeks that followed, I began documenting life in my new bewildering surroundings, three monthly videos that I would upload teaching.
However, as much as I reveled in the adventurous lifestyle of living in rural Japan after one year, I'd failed to forge any meaningful connections with the locals amidst the language barrier and a culture I struggled to comprehend.
Then one day that all changed.
My bumped into unenthusiastic stranger in the street.
A guy who took me under his wing became my way into Japan, outspoken, rebellious and often Presumptions what little English he knew.
He wasn't afraid to use.
It quickly became close friends, meeting every week to eat, drink and attempt to communicate.
And not long after, he began regularly appearing in the monthly Yuji video.
