It's a mother-son dance 4

that may not happen in the future. 5

Samantha Duran says she wanted to make sure 6

she had this memory with her son, Maddox. 7

It was just something that, 8

it just escalated into something I never imagined. 9

I just was doing it just to have 10

one special moment like this with my baby boy 11

to keep forever. 12

Maddox was diagnosed with spina bifida 13

while Samantha was still pregnant. 14

He's only two but has has 16 surgeries in his lifetime. 15

Last year, doctors found a cyst on his spine 16

that made the family realize 17

his time with them may be short. 18

He's been having these choking episodes 19

which are typically neurological related for him. 20

They predicted that it could 21

herniate or compress his brain stem and be 22

a life ending event 23

and naturally, we were beside ourselves 24

and we started making all the memories that we could. 25

Fearing she wouldn't get the chance 26

to dance with her son on his wedding day, 27

Samantha and Maddox got dressed up 28

and shared a dance to a song from the movie Coco. 29

At the beginning, I was just giving him 30

some kisses on his head and 31

it sounds weird but I was smelling him. 32

I was just soaking in everything that that moment was. 33

But then, about half way through, 34

I turned my head to the right and 35

that's when you can see I am trying so hard at that point 36

not to lose it because that's when it hit me 37

exactly what we were doing. 38

She's reminding parents everywhere 39

to enjoy whatever time they are given with their children 40

and why moments like this one are so precious. 41

While people might not have 42

the same exact diagnosis as him, 43

they have complications or obstacles themselves 44

and it's encouraging them to go out 45

and make the memories or do something like this 46

and I think that that's fantastic. 47
