  • (knife chopping)

  • (upbeat music)

  • - Hi everybody.

  • Today, let's make something delicious and healthy recipe.

  • (phone ringing) Oops!

  • (speaking in Korean)

  • Jjapaguri.

  • Jjapagetti, neoguri,

  • and they want some steak here.

  • Have you watched the Korean movie, sensational these days,

  • the movie Parasite?

  • (laughing)

  • I watched it twice.

  • It was so fun, unpredictable,

  • and a little bit of comedy, a little bit of horror film,

  • and also a little bit like thriller.

  • Until the last minute, it made me awake! Alert!

  • Lot of people are talking about this these days,

  • even in New York city, whenever I meet some people,

  • they ask about this because this is

  • a Korean movie.

  • And it won so many awards so far, and it's also nominated for Oscar.

  • The result is going to come soon, in February.

  • In the movie they eat some jjapaguri noodles,

  • black noodle, made of instant noodles, but this movie upgraded

  • the jjapaguri by adding some steak beef.

  • I'm going to show you how to make this.

  • So easy!

  • This is not really anything homemade.

  • You can pick up the 2 kinds of instant noodles,

  • and then make it.

  • This is jjapagetti.

  • Basically, it's black bean noodles, jjajangmyeon,

  • kind of fake jjajangmyeon.

  • You can make jjajangmyeon at home.

  • Check out my recipe.

  • This is instant jjajangmyeon noodles.

  • And this is neoguri, both are made by Nongshim company,

  • a Korean instant noodle company.

  • The name is so funny, from chapa (jjapa) and guri from neoguri

  • jjapaguri.

  • Everybody, repeat after me! jjapaguri, jjapaguri.

  • This is 3 cups of water.

  • I'm going to boil.

  • I'll cook this beef.

  • I chose this very very tender part.

  • Rib eye steak.

  • You can use around 200 grams for this amount,

  • almost like half a pound (8 ounces).

  • So, I think this amount is going to be

  • half a pound.

  • Cut this.

  • (knife cutting)

  • This is very tender.

  • (chopping)

  • I cut these into 1/2 inch cubes.

  • I'm going to cook here.

  • (knife sweeping)

  • I'll add a pinch of salt.

  • Pinch of salt.

  • And, black pepper.

  • Little bit vegetable oil.

  • One teaspoon.

  • (metal clanking)

  • Over high heat, let's cook.

  • So let's open this noodles.

  • (noodle packages crinkling)

  • This is jjapagetti noodles.

  • And all these are sauces.

  • This is a packet of flakes.

  • You can see inside dried vegetable flakes.

  • And this is the jjajang sauce, black bean sauce,

  • and this is oil.

  • This is neoguri.

  • Neoguri noodles look almost similar, but the neoguri noodles are

  • a little thicker than jjapagetti noodles.

  • And flakes.

  • My beef, I got to cook.

  • (oil heating)

  • Water is boiling.

  • And then leftover noodles, all noodles are here.

  • And then, flakes.

  • flakes, flakes.

  • (cutting)

  • Oh, it smells so good!

  • For this beef, I will add a little bit butter.

  • Butter.

  • (oil heating)

  • I use my tongs to make them soft and to separate these noodles.

  • All done, nice.

  • Now we have this oil and jjapagetti black sauce powder.

  • And this is Neoguri.

  • Neoguri's the powder is really spicy.

  • That's why people want to mix them together.

  • I'm going to keep stirring.

  • 2 to 3 minutes of cooking is enough,

  • and then turn off.

  • I will just drain these.

  • Noodles,

  • Put them back.

  • Delicious looking!

  • I need 1cup hot noodle boiling water.

  • Turn on the heat again.

  • This is the black sauce,

  • jjaapagetti sauce.

  • And then this neoguri powder is very red,

  • and spicy.

  • Usually Koreans use just half amount.

  • It's half a packet.

  • Just mix all together.

  • And let's add beef.

  • (metal clanking)

  • You can keep stirring and cooking together.

  • Black powder should be incorporated together.

  • Okay, done.

  • And turn off.

  • Then, just this oil.

  • You gotta add this oil, this oil is really something.

  • Mix again.

  • Oh my, look good!

  • (metal clanking)

  • This is the water from boiling noodles. Let's save this.

  • It looks delicious, so you can drink this

  • while you are eating.

  • And then, let's eat!

  • This is my danmuji.

  • Whenever I serve jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles),

  • I always eat it with my danmuji.

  • Yellow pickled radish.

  • Oh wow!

  • I'll just eat some beef first.

  • (paper crinkling)

  • Rib eye steak is always very tender and juicy.

  • If you want to share, of course, you need

  • small plates and then you guys just can take some to eat.

  • (slurping)

  • This steak makes it very tasty!

  • I will eat more.

  • (blowing)

  • (slurping)

  • Plump noodle are very soft and chewy.

  • The sauce is very savory, and a little bit of spicy kick

  • from neoguri soup powder, is

  • really awesome. No wonder why people love this.

  • Beside we added expensive rib eye steak here,

  • suddenly the taste is enhanced!

  • This mix of 2 kinds of instant noodles has been very popular

  • in Korea for a long time and it's very addictive.

  • I checked out the internet. In 2013,

  • Nongshim company, they just posted the recipe for this.

  • It says, "2 kinds of noodles,

  • the thickness is different, and when you cook together,

  • just in your mouth, and then all these guys are very

  • getting along, and the emptiness is filled each other."

  • You know what I'm saying?

  • And also, the sauce from, jjapagetti ( black bean

  • noodles) is a little greasy,

  • and neoguri noodle powder has spicy, and kind of red color,

  • so they're balanced each other.

  • Those explanation, whoever wrote it,

  • it's interesting!

  • This way you guys can make it at home.

  • Especially when you travel, I think it will be good.

  • You know, when you travel or go camping, make it

  • this way, everybody will enjoy it.

  • Today we made jjapaguri, jjapagetti plus neoguri,

  • uppercase Jjapaguri because add expensive beef steak here.

  • Enjoy my recipe.

  • See you next time!

  • Bye!

  • (upbeat music)

  • This movie upgraded jjapaguri by adding spaghetti,

  • high quality spa--

  • (laughing)

(knife chopping)
