  • I feel I feel very strongly that there Cem, Cem, Cem, clear connections between what occurred then and what's happening, even even today.

  • And these are just my own.

  • These are my own theories, and I certainly haven't researched him, but I would say several things.

  • First off, it's very interesting if you get statistics on who the CEOs of this country are and where they come from.

  • Educationally and functionally in business, there's is very easy to get those statistics.

  • There are the Fortune 500 Unfortunate 1000 and very interestingly, in the sixties, Maur CEOs came out of marketing than any other group in the seventies.

  • More came out of finance that any of the group in an eighties they were starting to move more toward the law.

  • Professional lawyers in the fifties to go back.

  • They were Maur operations and production people.

  • Now that's had a tremendous influence on our society and our economy, and it's interesting to think about why that happened.

  • My own belief is it.

  • People who get ahead in business are usually offering the most unique and competitively marketable or needed skills.

  • So what happened was the fifties in the business school world in the training of managers who become the leaders in the 10 and 20 years later, the fifties was the beginning of a whole new thrust in business education called marketing.

  • Up till then, it was salesmanship in sales management.

  • And how do you sell?

  • Marketing takes a much longer view, as you know, looks that products and how, who and how people buy a great extensive market research much more scientific.

  • It's much more thoughtful.

  • So so the the great breakthroughs that came in the business school world in the fifties or in marketing.

  • And you see, that's followed 10 years later by the predominance of top people in CEOs coming out of the marketing field.

  • I think that led us into the fifties and sixties.

  • Now, with this tremendous emphasis, that way we can market, we can develop products.

  • We can advertise 1/5 Avenue, the whole thrust.
