  • My colleague, Micah, made these candied walnuts during the winter holidays and I fell in love

  • with them. The spices in the sugar mixture are what make these walnuts so special.

  • Preheat your oven to 350. Pour 2 cups of walnut halves on a lined baking

  • sheet in a single layer. Toast them until you can smell them and they have lightly browned.

  • This could take as little as 10 minutes or as long as 15 minutes. You're gonna want to

  • start checking them after about 9 or 10 minutes, because they can burn quickly. Mine were done

  • after 12 minutes. While the walnuts are toasting, melt ¼ cup

  • of vegan margarine in a pot, then turn off the heat.

  • Pour ½ cup of packed brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon of salt, ⅛ teaspoon

  • of nutmeg andteaspoon of black pepper into a bowl and mix it all together.

  • Once the walnuts are done, immediately pour them into the margarine and stir them. Then

  • pour the margarine and walnuts into the brown sugar mixture and mix them well. Pour them

  • on a baking sheet and let them cool. These are great alone as a snack, on top of

  • a salad or even as a sweet addition to a savory soup. This is how Micah enjoys his candied

  • walnuts. Thanks for watching Vegan Cooking with Love!
