Andnow, as I mentioned, I dogetupatfiveinthemorningandalreadysomeofyouhaveprobablyalreadyranforthehills, thinking I'm a nightout.
I can't possiblygetupthatearly.
Thatisridiculous.
I gotobedatfive.
I don't getupatfive.
Andforthosepeopleoutthere, thepeoplethatareskepticalthinkingyou're a nightowl.
I usedtothinktheexactsamethingwhen I wasincollege.
I wenttobedat 12.
1234 evensometimesfive o'clockinthemorning.
I wasgoingtobedbackthenatthesametime.
I getupnow, whichiscrazytothinkabout, and I thoughteverythingwasfine.
I justthought I was a nightowlbecause I'd naturallystayeduplate.
I wokeuplate.
I'd wakeup 9 10 11 o'clocksometimes, dependingonhowlate I stayedup.
And I neverthought I couldpossiblygetupearly.
I knowwhen I had 8 a.m. classesincollegeor 7:30 a.m. classes, I havestruggled.
I wasalwayslate.
Sometimes I didn't makeit.
I wouldfallasleepinclass.
Itwasbad.
I justthought I wasdestinedtoalwaysbe a nightout, and I wouldalwaysbestayinguplaterthaneveryoneandgettinguplaterthaneveryone.
Butthen I realizedthatthetimethat I spenddoingactivitieslaterintheeveningalmostalwayswasnotveryproductiveafteritbecameabout 10 11 o'clock.
ThattimeIntel I wenttobedwasusuallyfilledwiththingslikewatchingTV, watchingmovies, playinggames, doingthingsthatdon't reallyimprovemylifeinanyway.
I wasn't goingtothegymduringthosehours.
I wasn't improvingmyWebdevelopmentskillsMostofthetime.
I wasjustworkingonmeaninglessentertainmentactivities, whichisfine.
But I wasspending a largeamountoftimedoingthosethings, since I wouldstayupsolate.
So I realizedthat I wasmuchmoreproductiveinthemorninghoursforthemostpart, upuntilyouknowthat 11 o'clocktimenowgranted, therewereplentyoftimesincollegewhere I wouldstayuplateworkingonstudyingprogrammingorstudyingwhatever I neededtodoforclasses.
And I wasreallyproductiveduringthosehoursbecausemostpeoplewereasleepatoneinthemorning, sizablejustlaserfocus, getthingsdoneandthatworkedsometimes.
Butmywillpowerwasalwaysverylowatthattimeoftheday, andtheonlyreason I wouldbeupsolate.
Spytotestthenextdayorhomeworkassignmentduethenextday, and I hadtogetitdone.
Otherwise I wasgonnabedoingsomethingenjoyable.
And I wasn't gonnabeworkingonsomethingproductive.
And I realizedthatif I justcutthattimeoutofmylife, if I gotobedat 10 insteadofgoingtobedatthree, I justcutfivehoursoutthatairessentiallyfullofmeaninglesstasks.
Andtheydo, like 30 minutesofproductiveactivity.
Butforthemostpart, thattimeisuseless.
Andif I wasthenshiftthattimetothebeginningofmyday.
So I getupthoseextra 45 hoursearlier.
Then I haveanextrafivehoursofproductivetimethat I'm abletogetthingsdone.
StudyWebdevelopment.
I'm abletogotothegym, youknow, playtheguitar.
Whateveritisthat I wanttodo, I candothosethings, and I havethewillpowertodothem.
When I firststartedgettingupearlyat 5 a.m. itwasterrible.
Itwasreallydifficulttoconvincemyselftogetupsoearlyandespeciallytogotobedsoearly, since I justwasn't usedtogoingtobedat 10 o'clock, since I wasusedtostartingmydayat 10 insteadofendingit.
Andyoumaybehavetriedthissinceyou'rewatchingthisvideo, Youmaybehavetriedgettingupearlier, andyoureallyhatedit, andyoukindofquitafter a weekortwo.
Butreally, ittakes a full 34 evenmaybefiveweeksforyourbodytoshiftandadjust.
Exspecial.
IfyoustayedOppa's lateas I did, soyourbodycanadjusttogettingupatthisearliertime.
Butifyougotobedconsistentlyatthesametimeandgetupconsistentlyatthesametimeandyouhaveenoughhoursasleepinthattime, you'regonnafindthatit's incrediblyeasytoshiftfrom a nightoutperspectivetobecoming a morningperson.
But I findforme I canswitchbetweenthetwofairlyeasily, andbeing a morningpersonissomuchmoreproductiveformethanbeing a nightout.
Soifyouhavetrieditandit's failedbefore, I highlyrecommendgivingit a shotandgoingatleast a month, gettingupattheexactsametimeeverydayandgoingtobedatthesametimeeverysingleday, andthatincludesweakens.
I usuallydidn't startstudyuntilabout 12 andcollege 11 o'clockbecausemostpeopleweregoingtobedand I knew I couldgetlaserfocusedonwhat I wantedtodo, andnoonecanbotherme.
Buttheproblemlike I said, ismywillpowerwasdepleted, so I had a hardtimeconvincingmyselftostudythatlateatnight.
Butif I switchedtothemorninglike I have, I havethatstrongwillpower.
But I havethesamebenefitsofcompletepeaceandquiet.
Noonetobotherme, Nodistractions, and I couldgettonsoffocusedworkdone, anditisabsolutelyamazing.
If I getaboutfive, mydayisusuallyoverbythree o'clockorsoforworking, whichmeansthat I canactuallyenjoythesunlightintheoutdoorsintheniceweather, especiallyduringthewintertime, whenthesunlightisalmostalwayssittingaround 4 35 o'clock.
If I getdonewithmydaythree, I atleasthave a goodhour, maybetwohoursoftime, that I canspendoutenjoyingthesun, enjoyingtheweatherwhilemostpeopledon't getdonewithworktillafterfive, sotheyreallygetnoenjoymentoutofthenicesunlightandtheniceweather.
I couldgoon a walkandenjoytheniceweatherifit's warmenoughoutside, oratleastjustbeabletobeoutinthesunlightforthedaybecauseifyou'reconstantlygettingenoughlatergettingdonewithworklater.
Sohavingthatability, I think, isoneofthemostunderratedreasonsforgettingupsoearly.
Ifyou'restillskepticalofgettingupsoearly, take a lookatthisYouTubechannelasanexampleofwhatcanbedonewithgettingupsoearly.
I knowif I didn't getupatfiveeverymorning, I wouldhavenoenergytocreatethesevideos.
I wouldn't havethewillpowertomaketwovideos a weektowrite a bloggerarticleeachweekeventocreatethecoursesthat I do.
I justwouldnotbeabletodoit.
Andbecause I dogetupatfiveinthemorning, I havethatextratimewithmyhighwillpowerthat I canspendsuperfocusedonmakingthesevideos, eventhough I have a fulltimejobthat I workontopofdoingYouTube.
I alsoliketogotothegym, and I coulddothatrightearlyinthemorningwhenmywillpoweristhehighestbecauseThatisthethingthat I willmostlikelyskipif I don't havethewillpower.
