  • On August 29th 2019 at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, Star Wars Galaxys

  • Edge, the new 14 acre land, officially opens to the public.

  • In May of 2019 Star Wars Galaxy's Edge made its debut at the Disneyland Park in California.

  • When it was announced that both parks would be getting this Star Wars Land, we knew they'd

  • be the same.

  • Now that Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios is beginning to be revealed there are some

  • subtle differences between the lands that make each unique.

  • If you want a full complete tour through Galaxy's Edge then definitely check out the video we

  • posted back in June when the land opened at Disneyland, there's a link in the card on

  • the right hand side.

  • Today's video we're gonna focus on what's different in Walt Disney World's version

  • including some secrets and tips.

  • So lets get ready to travel to a galaxy far far away and count down the top 7 Disney World

  • vs Disneyland Details of Star Wars Galaxy's Edge.

  • Number 7- Walking into Galaxy's Edge is quite the

  • experience and one major difference in both versions are the entrances to get into the

  • land.

  • At Disneyland there's three separate entrances where as at Hollywood Studios there's only

  • two.

  • The first entrance is from Grand Ave and it leads you into the Resistance forest.

  • Since Grand Ave is themed to present day Los Angeles, here you travel through a street

  • tunnel inspired by a real tunnel in LA.

  • The Figueroa Street tunnels are a set of 4 tunnels that opened in 1931 and Disney Imagineers

  • used this piece of architecture to have you travel onto the planet of Batuu.

  • On top of the tunnel there's the Los Angels coat of arms just like whats on the original

  • tunnel which you can see here on the left of the screen.

  • The tunnel is complete with subway tiles like you'd see in typical tunnels like these

  • and then halfway through, the rocks from Batuu start breaking through the surface and your

  • transition into the Resistance Forest beings.

  • The tunnel looks great and offers a great reveal into Galaxy's Edge.

  • This is what it looks like from inside the land.

  • Now this entrance at Disneyland is from Critter Country which gives you a much different reveal.

  • At Disneyland one of their tunnel entrances is from Frontierland and that leads you right

  • in front of the Droid Depot area of Black Spire Outpost.

  • This here is the view of the droid depot from the front of the same entrance at Hollywood

  • Studios.

  • This entrance is from Toy Story Land and it's just a simple path that leads into Black Spire

  • Outpost.

  • There's a lot more room in front of it compared to the same area at Disneyland which feels

  • much more crammed.

  • Granted Disney world has a lot more space than Disneyland so it makes sense that there

  • is more room.

  • And the third entrance at Disneyland is right here next to the TIE Eschlon where as at Hollywodod

  • Studios, this archway that is the 3rd entrance at Disneyland is just boarded up and everything

  • behind it is a backstage area.

  • So we've already seen some differences and the Toy Story Land entrance actually holds

  • a little hidden secret.

  • Number 6 One specific detail thats unique to Galaxy's

  • Edge at Hollywood Studios can be found at the Toy Story Land Entrance.

  • If you've watched our previous Galaxy's Edge videos, we talked about how DJ Rex, the

  • resident DJ of the Cantina, used to pilot the Star Speeder ship on Star Tours.

  • Rex's backstory is that he flunked his way out of Star Tours, found the rebellion and

  • into the battle of Jakku.

  • In an epic TIE fighter chase, Rex crashes into Batuu where the droid smith Muboo finds

  • him and fixes him up.

  • Well next to the Toy Story Land entrance there's what appears to be a crash site and it's

  • said to be caused by Rex crashing the ship into Batuu.

  • {Rex} Sorry folks, it was my first time.

  • I'm sure I'll do better next time.

  • When you look inside there's pieces of the ship scattered in the hole and the crash location

  • makes perfect sense since its right across from the droid depot.

  • Muboo probably would have been one of the first people to see the crash so he was quickly

  • able to salvage Rex from the rubble.

  • Its a fun little detail that can only be found at Hollywood Studios.

  • Helping to tell Rex's story on how he found his way into Batuu.

  • {Rex} I can't leave the Cantina!

  • I'm bolted down!

  • Number 5 One big difference you'll notice inside

  • Galaxy's Edge is the colour scheme.

  • California and Florida are both places with warm climates but overall they have different

  • sun and weather conditions.

  • Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland is painted with more neutral tan tones where as at Hollywood

  • Studios everything is much more saturated and vibrant like here with the Outpost Marketplace.

  • The increase in saturation was to accommodate for Florida's harsh sun but also to accommodate

  • for the amount of perception we see in Florida.

  • This still allows for the buildings at Hollywood Studios to pop even with a grey sky.

  • So lets do a little comparative analysis of the differences in color and design of Galaxy's

  • Edge and head into the Outpost marketplace first.

  • This here is Walt Disney World where the darker red-ish color continues inside and the stone

  • in the centre is tall and thin where as at Disneyland it's a larger circular stone.

  • Once you're in the heart of the marketplace both look practically identical which you

  • can see here as we transition into Disneyland.

  • Next in Ronto Roasters here at Hollywood Studios the pod racing engine is more of a turquoise

  • blue color then at Disneyland it's a deep blue with a slightly different decal on the

  • engine.

  • Around the back side of the Droid depot, the courtyards are similar but the most noticeable

  • difference here is the decorative design on the side of the building.

  • In Florida it's much more vibrant and saturated to go along with tat color scheme.

  • Moving over to the path that leads to the Cantina, here the colours are very similar

  • between the two lands but the one main difference is the arch that leads to the millennium falcon

  • area is painted a tan color in Florida where as at Disneyland its grey.

  • Like we've said a few times in this video, there are subtle differences between the land

  • that make each unique but these differences don't alter the overall experience of Galaxy's

  • Edge.

  • You're still gonna experience a highly immersive planet that will take you into a Galaxy Far

  • Far Away.

  • Number 4- Seeing the millennium falcon in person is

  • one of the highlights of Star War Galaxy's Edge.

  • Since Florida's version was painted using more saturated colours, you can really see

  • the difference on the spires around the Millennium falcon, you'll also notice a difference

  • in the greenery growing on the rocks.

  • Now the Millennium Falcon is home to the attraction Smugglers run and once your'e inside the

  • experience is identical to what we've described in our Disneyland Galaxy's Edge Videos.

  • You can find all of our other Galaxy's Edge videos in the card on the right hand side.

  • Entering Ohnaka Transport Solutions is quite the immersive experience including the smell

  • of burring rubber lingering in the shop.

  • Once you're on the second story in the queue you get some pretty cool views of the land.

  • A little hidden detail to spot from here are the numbers on the cargo ship from Docking

  • Bay 7.

  • They actually represent the years the original trilogy was released.

  • 1977, 1980 and 1983.

  • You'll also get some fantastic up close views of the Millennium Falcon from here.

  • The only real detail that gives away wether you're in California or Florida is Big Thunder

  • Mountain's spire peaking out of the skyline at Disneyland.

  • Just like how imagineers altered the overall color scheme for Florida, they also played

  • with color in California.

  • This spire right here was painted with the orange color of Big Thunder Mountain allowing

  • it to blend in with the rest of Galaxy's Edge, where as in Florida you can see that

  • the same spire is painted a similar color but it blends in more with the black spire

  • beside it.It;s just another subtle detail that separates the two lands.

  • If you look really closely out into the distance, you can also see the top of the Dolphin hotel.

  • Give it a few years or even a few months and those trees will eventually grow tall enough

  • to hide the hotel.

  • Now once you make your way into the pre show the Hondo Onhkaa animatronic is just as impressive

  • in Florida as it is in California.

  • \

  • {Hondo} I need flight crews to transport this valuable merchandise across the galaxy.

  • Now when you're in the chess room waiting for your boarding group to be called, if you

  • ever hear the alarm going off, try finding this button on the left hand side of the room

  • to stop the alarm.

  • Aside form the Millennium falcon cockpit, there aren't many buttons in the land that

  • you can actually press, but this one here is one of them.

  • Just another fun little detail to keep an eye out for while you're exploring Galaxy's

  • Edge.

  • Number 3 Now let's talk a little about the food and

  • drinks….well actually the drinks are the only difference between the two lands.

  • Oga's Cantina at Disneyland is the only location in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge that

  • serves alcohol but it is available at multiple locations in Florida with one being the Milk

  • Stand.

  • As you walk around Black Spire Outpost you can find many people cooling off with a glass

  • of Blue or green milk, which now includes alcoholic versions of the drinks in addition

  • to the regular milk.

  • The spiked drinks are served in square cups as opposed to round cups, and its still a

  • plant based drink made with rice and coconut milk.

  • Now as for taste, its pretty much the same as their non alcoholic counterparts.

  • The blue milk is fruity and creamy, and it's spiked with Rum.

  • The green milk has more of a citrus, earthy taste and thats made with Tequila.

  • You're definitely able to taste more of the alcohol in the green milk and again we

  • personally preferred the green spiked milk but others really did enjoy the blue.

  • So it's all personal preference.

  • You can also find alcoholic drinks served at Ronto Roasters and at Docking Bay 7.

  • There are a couple of new cocktails as well as beer served at both locations and you're

  • are able to walk around the land with these drinks as well.

  • The only drinks you can't walk around with are ones from Oga's Cantina, those stay

  • in the bar.

  • This experience remains strictly inside and here at Walt Disney World, you're able to

  • make reservations for Oga's Cantina up to 6 months in advance.

  • It's an experience you don't wanna miss and Disney is recommending that you make a

  • reservation since walk-up availably will be limited day of.

  • Number 2 Building your own customizable droid in the

  • droid depot or a customizable lightsaber in Savi's Workshop are highlight experiences

  • in Galaxy's Edge.

  • Now at Walt Disney World you can actually make reservations for these experiences up

  • to 6 months in advance on the Disney World website.

  • You can get to the reservation pages by going to disneyworld.com/SavisWorkshop and disneyworld.com/DroidDepot.

  • Once you're on the reservation page you'll select the number of guests in your group.

  • This only includes whoever is gonna be physically building the droid or lightsaber, not the

  • others who will just be observing.

  • You'll then select one of the open dates from the Calendar, your time period and finally

  • your physical time slot.

  • Once thats all done you'll need to enter the names of the participants and your reservation

  • is set.

  • There is walk-up availably to build a droid and a lightsaber but like Oga's Cantina

  • there's only a limited number of those openings available day of.

  • So to guarantee a slot definitely make a reservation.

  • Number 1 The only area of Galaxy's Edge that's

  • laid out differently is the resistance forest.

  • Here in Florida the forest is much wider with a lot more room to move and as you make your

  • way through the forest you'll find an X-Wing and an A-Wing ship.

  • At Disneyland both ships are on the right hand side as you walk into the land but at

  • Hollywood Studios, the X-Wing is on the left hand side with the Rise of the Resistance

  • attraction behind it.

  • This layout creates a better flow through the forest and like Disneyland's X-Wing,

  • the ship also acts as a stage for the performers.

  • Disney has done a great job with all the details in the land but what truly makes Galaxy's

  • Edge immersive are the characters that just roam around.

  • You can find Storm Troopers, to Rey & Chewbacca and even Vi Moradi.

  • It's interactions like these that help complete the story in Star Wars Galaxys Edge.

  • The character entertainment at Hollywood Studios is truly top notch.

  • Star Wars Galaxy's Edge is exactly what we've been waiting for at Disney's Hollywood

  • Studios.

  • Ignite the spark, light the fire.

  • I'll see you around!

  • And as they say on Batuu, till the spire!

  • So with our comparisons betweens the lands we've shown you, which version of Galaxy's

  • Edge do you think looks best?

  • Disney or Walt Disney World?

  • Have you visited this new land yet?
