Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles This is the lock picking lawyer and what I have for you today is a set of hyper tough padlocks. Hyper tough is a Wal Mart store brand. And that is where I bought these. As you might suspect, these locks are trivially easy to pick open. In fact, we're going to do that before I show you the bigger problem. These have master lock style key ways I'm going to use bottom of the key way tension. And since these are only four pins with no security pins, we should be able to rake them quickly. Here we go. That is one raped open and let's do both of them. Okay, so both of them raped open in just a few moments. But believe it or not, that is the second most troubling thing about these locks. You see, the designers failed to shield the back of the key way. What that means is you can reach through the keyhole with any long, sharp object all the way to the locking mechanism and push aside the lugs that hold the shackle closed. Let me show you just how easy that is to d'oh! There are two locking lugs here is the first and the second, and we'll do this one as well. First and second. Unfortunately, this is a really common design defect that's been present for decades in a wide range of locks. And until consumers are better educated about what they're buying, I think this is a defect that will continue to see in the future. In any case, that's all I have for you today. If you do have any questions or comments about this, please put them below. If you like this video and would like to see more like it, please subscribe. And, as always, have a nice day. Thank you.
