  • This is the lock picking lawyer.

  • And if you watch this channel with any regularity than you've certainly seen this disc detainer pick out of habit, I've simply been calling it.

  • The tool that Bosnian Bill and I made in this tool is the subject of the single most common question that I get on this channel.

  • Where can I get one?

  • It's a question that I'll answer in this video, but first I want to take you back to how all of this started.

  • Bill and I were having lunch together when it came up that we both talked to pick makers about making a disc detainer pick, and we both got the exact same response.

  • It's Tunisia product and no one will buy it.

  • Well, we thought we knew better.

  • See back then, all that was on the market were ultra cheap picks from China that didn't really work and ultra high end handmade tools that cost hundreds of dollars.

  • There was a huge open market in the middle, so we posted a video series where we designed and built the first few prototypes of this on link those videos below.

  • But after we were armed with your feedback, we went back to the pick makers and offered to give them the design for free if they produced the pick at a reasonable price.

  • Well, folks, this is the culmination of that process.

  • It's going to be released on the Sparrows website in just a couple of hours around 10 a.m. Eastern time in the final price is $45.

  • That includes the pick itself as well as an extra tip.

  • That extra tip is important because I suspect a fair number of people are going to end up breaking them, particularly when they first start using the pick.

  • Just like beginners tend to break regular lock picks.

  • When I mentioned that to Sparrows, they decided to drop in a spare, so I can't just show you the pick without also showing it in action.

  • So here I have a kryptonite crypto lock.

  • Siri's, too.

  • It's one of their quote, knew you products, which are a little bit tougher to open.

  • So let's see how this new pick fares.

  • First we have to rotate all of those disks as far clockwise is, they will go that I'm going to insert the pick and pick up disc number one.

  • Okay, let's find Number two.

  • There we go.

  • Click out of two click out of three.

  • Four Feels like it's in a gate.

  • So does five.

  • Those are both.

  • Probably zero cuts.

  • Click out of six.

  • It feels like it's in a gate.

  • Let's go back to the beginning to its set.

  • So it was three for five.

  • Okay, let's try tensioning off of number five.

  • And we just set disc number one and we got this open.

  • Okay, folks, that's it for today.
