  • What's up, guys?

  • Jay's two cents here, and obviously I am not in coal in Germany.

  • I'm here in Southern California.

  • What kind?

  • Wish I was in Germany, I couldn't go to the event because I had family obligations.

  • But we finally got all the information we need to know about in videos.

  • New family of G Pews known as R TX Something We have been eagerly waiting for almost 2.5 years for a new family of G pews.

  • We kind of hoped that what we were going to see was something amazing for how long it's been.

  • Unfortunately, on the high level, at least, it doesn't seem like in video disappointed.

  • So let's talk about the new specs, the new families, which can expect moving forward availability, pricing and all of that sort of stuff.

  • Hubble.

  • You could do without boring you to sleep.

  • Kind of like a keynote was in the beginning.

  • Part was kind of like, but then it all made sense.

  • Do you want to be cooler?

  • You want to be more desirable?

  • Well, you're in luck because right now you can own your very own James two cents swag and immediately be the cool kid on the block max out your sex appeal by following the leaf down below.

  • Now, I know you guys would love for me to just dive into the specs, pricing and availability.

  • But before he can understand the specs, you have to understand some of the high level of the new technology.

  • So rather than going into a two hour live stream, I'm just gonna talk about some of the high level specs but the and the technology differences.

  • But the funny part on this is usually in video is very choreographed, very particular and very tight on the way these presentations run.

  • It was kind of comical to see them be human for once, because the keynote started 20 minutes late.

  • And if you're not aware, if you've never been to these events, the keynote starts.

  • And then there's a very, very choreographed PR dance that happens behind the scenes.

  • The Twitter accounts, the new egg and and obviously the video websites all have various pages that are set to go live and publish at certain times that correspond with what's happening in the keynote.

  • Because the keynote started 20 minutes late, that was all at a sink, which means we got to see what it was called the pricing availability all way ahead of time.

  • In fact, new Egg published their page about R TX exactly at nine o'clock.

  • I don't think that was supposed to happen, but regardless that's beside the point is kind of finding to see it not go according to plan.

  • I'm sure heads are rolling somewhere behind the scenes right now in video because, yeah, Jensen does not like it when things don't go according to plan anyway, I digress.

  • Obviously it's called in video R T X.

  • That's no surprise they talked about our T X back in the past.

  • We've GDC we have seen Artie Ex mentioned throughout the year, and the reason why they're calling our T X is because of the focus on Ray Tracing Ray Tracing is kind of like the next evolutionary step in realism when it comes to the way light reflections, distance light, refraction, subsurface, scattering, all that sort of stuff.

  • The ray tracing is something that's kind of been absent from graphics cards, especially in games, because it's taken such a ridiculous amount of power to handle Ray Tracy.

  • I'm not gonna go into what Ray tracing is here.

  • There's lots of information online you can find out about it.

  • But let's just say it's something that in the past to do in real time, even not even in the gaming environment.

  • Just a three d demo is something that was just not possible.

  • So now we're gonna talk about NVIDIA touring because that's the new core.

  • That's what's designed for Ray tracing.

  • And that is what has been in development for the last 10 years and in video.

  • That's why you're not seeing Volta as a new family.

  • You're seeing touring because touring was a parallel workflow that was happening within the in video organization where they had been developing this for the last 10 years.

  • Once it was ready for prime time, you saw it go live, and that's where we are announced.

  • That's why Titan V and Volta didn't make it to a more mainstream because it's already obsolete.

  • Tighten The was the first kind of a hybrid GPU that came out of camp in video, had the tensor core, which was handling things like a I and deep learning and all kinds of other instructions on the side.

  • And then, of course, the main coup decor of the GPU.

  • So that made it sort of a hybrid handled multiple things that once the code accords were extremely powerful.

  • Obviously, even in the gaming performance, Titan V was dominating the benchmarks and three d market all that.

  • But now the R TX platform and touring has what, five or six different cores doing different things simultaneously.

  • And that's why Ray tracing real time is a thing now because you have a an engine for Ray tracing.

  • You have this, and these are physical engines not like you know, it's not happening at SD Care instruction set level.

  • It's happening directly physically.

  • Hardware level on the core, handling these as independent processors inside one die.

  • So you've got the ray tracing aspect.

  • You've got the brasserie ization.

  • You've got obviously, well, that we'll put a screen cap of here.

  • You can see what they're all called, but that's all happening simultaneously.

  • So let's talk about the performance of it.

  • Though v 100 the D G X server that was shown earlier, GDC had 4 $15,000 jeep use in it and $8000 with components of CPU and all that stuff making a $68,000 server.

  • There's now 10 milliseconds slower than a single, fully unlocked touring core that does 100 and 10 tariff flops per 2nd 1 G pew on this launch has just obsolete ID an entire $68,000 server, so it doesn't tell you how far they've come.

  • That's amazing.

  • But again, touring was a separate workflow, a separate project that just came online, dominating the professional workspace there When it comes to graphics, obviously.

  • But what about games?

  • Well, there was a few demos.

  • They showed shadow of the Tomb Raider, a cZ.

  • Well, as metro exits, both they're gonna be utilizing real time Ray tracing.

  • A lot of games were actually being updated as we speak to take advantage of 20 Siri's and real time Ray tracing.

  • But specs wise, this is kind of interesting, because apparently so they're calling obviously the 2070 2080 and 28 e.

  • T.

  • I.

  • But because of the new ray tracing ability of these cards, they're not measuring its compute power.

  • The same as the past.

  • You guys used to seeing giga flops and teraflops and all that sort of stuff.

  • Well, now he's calling it gig a raise.

  • And this is where I'm gonna kind of try and split some of the marketing wool being pulled over the eyes vs Riel World scenario here Now, specs wise, you have to understand because this is a new family of graphics cards and a new way of doing graphics.

  • And he was very transparent about that.

  • This is a whole new way.

  • We're approaching graphics.

  • He says it will never be the same.

  • Have a whole new way of measuring it.

  • You guys used to seeing teraflops in the past.

  • Well, now, moving forward with the 20 Siri's and whatever the future holds, you're gonna see it measured in two different numbers.

  • You're gonna see Giga Raise per Seconds and R TX ops per second.

  • So that's why I want to talk about for a second here, take these numbers with a green assault when they show you the performance compared to previous generation because of the fact previous generation was not ever really even measured with these numbers until these cards were available to see how they handled the previous generation was not designed for real time retracing at all.

  • So it's kind of like comparing a Ferrari to a civic and saying so much faster than it is in the Civic.

  • It's just it's too completely non comparable figures.

  • So take the marketing slides and the crap that you're going to see from in video and just ignore it until you have the next generation to compare how far they've come versus this one.

  • This is the baseline.

  • So that's why the old generation numbers they're showing you with these massive slides and this huge exponential curve is really just kind of marketing bullshit.

  • So keep that in mind that the 2070 features six Yuka raised per second, a Gregory and 45 trillion Artie ex cops per second.

  • It's got eight gigabytes of what we're gonna assume is GDR six, because they didn't actually show it on the slide.

  • That's so that's the bottom of the family right now.

  • For the 20 Siri's now, the 2080 has eight Giga raise per 2nd 60 trillion Artie accepts per second, so to mortgage Garay's and the 28 e.

  • T.

  • I has 10 get a raise per 2nd 78 trillion artiach r r TX ops per second and 11 gigabytes of GDR six.

  • And in the 28 e t.

  • I.

  • Very interesting.

  • I feel like they've just launched the Titan to call it T I at day one, which is kind of nice.

  • I kind of hate when they come back a month later.

  • And look, here's the T.

  • I give us the options up front.

  • You have had plenty of time to get the family sorted.

  • They're claiming that the 2070 has more performance than the tight next Pee.

  • And that's why I say Ignore the marketing numbers we're seeing today because when it comes to straight up F P s and Q decor performance, we don't know what those figures are.

  • Yet until we get our hands on ours to do our testing and stuff, we can't say what gaming performance is gonna be like because they're specifically measuring Gig a raise and Artie ex ops for second, which again new numbers that mean nothing until we have something compared to you in the future.

  • But guys also to pricing, you're going to see two very different things.

  • If you went on to invidious preorder site, which is up now, you're going to be very different pricing versus what was mentioned at the keynote.

  • You gotta pay attention to the fine details.

  • It says starting at 9 99 for the 20 t I starting at it was at 6 99 I think it was for the 2080 and starting at 4 99 for the 10.

  • 70 you're going to see higher prices on videos website because once again, founders addition is always more expensive.

  • Remember, they're also bend G pews, and video is going to hold on to the best performing deep use and keep them for their own sales.

  • But two very different things that you're gonna notice with this cooler now and is now a dual fanduel vapor chamber cooler versus the single vapor chamber with a blower style fan.

  • And you're also gonna notice there is no s l I finger now.

  • They didn't mention it in the keynote, but I have it on good authority.

  • Through an unnamed source has not commented to mention the blah, blah, blah, whatever you guys know that that it's actually happening through a new style link.

  • It's not happening through a standard s Ally bridge anymore.

  • There's a different NVIDIA link that's gonna be happening.

  • And sl I is going to be a new renewed focus for in video.

  • They're gonna be looking at bringing back mg pew performance.

  • So there have been some rumors about them, potentially not even doing s a lie with this family.

  • Well, again, this is unofficial, but I have it on good authority that they were going to focus on it once again.

  • But you may have noticed there is no s ally finger on there because trust me, I noticed that I asked.

  • So there you go, guys.

  • That's it.

  • Till we get our hands on it.

  • These are all the details that we have.

  • For now, everyone's out partying and cold, and I'm here making this video for you.

  • So hopefully you guys have at least enjoyed the news.

  • Let me know what you guys think about our t X and Ray tracing and whether or not you think that that's the future of gaming.

  • I mean, obviously, graphics cards getting faster, you gotta find a way to leverage that in real time.

  • Retracing is something that was impossible until now in the video seems to be doing it So go, guys.

  • Thanks for watching sound off in the comments below or hit me up on Twitter at Jay's two cents and as always, I will see you in the next.

What's up, guys?
