HERE'S OUR SHOP, AND HERE'S MY NUMBER 43 CLICK N' CLOSE CAMARO ZL1. [ ENGINE REVS ] WE'LL GIVE YOU GUYS A TOUR OF WHAT'S ON THE OUTSIDE AND WHAT'S ON THE INSIDE OF MY OFFICE, SO COME ON. ♪♪ OBVIOUSLY, I HAVE THE ICONIC NUMBER 43, RICHARD PETTY'S 200 WINS. ♪♪ A LOT OF HISTORY BEHIND THIS NUMBER, SO IT'S PRETTY SPECIAL FOR ME TO BE DRIVING THIS CAR, REPRESENTING THAT NUMBER, THE RICHARD PETTY BRAND. AND THEN, WE ADDED A LITTLE BIT OF PETTY BLUE TO KEEP THAT LEGACY GOING THAT HE'S CREATED. SO YOU ALWAYS KNOW WHICH CAR IS RICHARD PETTY'S NOW, SO IT'S REALLY COOL TO BE CARRYING THESE COLORS, HIS NUMBER. JUST A GREAT-LOOKING CAR ALL AROUND. IT'S COOL TO SEE MY NAME ON THE CAR. THE NICKNAME WAS GIVEN TO ME FROM THE DAY I WAS BORN FROM MY SISTER. ♪♪ HERE'S THE BRAIN BUCKET. THIS KEEPS ME SAFE. THIS HAS RADIO PLUG-INS SO I CAN TALK WITH THE CREW. ON TOP OF THIS, I HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A.C. IT'S NOT THE MOST POWERFUL THING, BUT IT WILL KEEP YOU COOL, ESPECIALLY WHEN RACES GET UP TO 150 DEGREES INSIDE A CAR. SO, THESE ARE MY RACING SHOES THAT I WILL USE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. THEY ARE FIRE-RETARDANT, KEEP YOU SAFE, AND THEY LOOK REALLY GOOD, FEEL REALLY COMFORTABLE, LIGHTWEIGHT, CUSTOM KICKS. SO, NOW I'M GONNA SHOW YOU GUYS HOW I GET IN THE CAR. IT'S A LITTLE BIT OF A STRETCH, BUT WE'RE GONNA MAKE IT HAPPEN. SO, YOU GOTTA HIKE YOUR LEG UP OVER THE DOOR, KICK IT IN, SLIDE ON IN THERE, AND THEN YOU'RE SNUG IN HERE. SO, THERE WE GO. BUT YOU'LL STILL BANG YOUR KNEE ON THE MIRROR, BANG YOUR HEAD ON THIS LITTLE METAL PART RIGHT HERE. IT DOESN'T FEEL GOOD, BUT IT'S ALL PART OF IT AND COMES WITH THE NATURE. THE SEAT IS MOLDED TO ME. NO ONE ELSE CAN REALLY FIT IN MY SEAT COMFORTABLY LIKE I CAN. I ALWAYS SAY THE MOST COMFORTABLE SPOT TO TAKE A NAP IS RIGHT HERE IN THE RACECAR. THROW MY SEATBELTS DOWN, AND IT'S A NINE-POINT HARNESS. GET ALL THESE HOOKED UP HERE. SO, YOU'RE PRETTY SECURE. YOU'RE NOT REALLY GOING ANYWHERE IF ANYTHING BAD HAPPENS, SO THAT'S ALWAYS NICE. SOME OF THE RACES ARE FOUR HOURS LONG, SO YOU WANT TO BE AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE. SO WHEN YOU'RE COMFORTABLE, YOU'RE FAST. [ ENGINES REV ] HAVING THE HELMET ON, YOU DON'T GET MUCH MOVEMENT AT ALL. I CAN MOVE MY HEAD AN INCH OR TWO LEFT AND RIGHT, AND THAT'S ABOUT IT. THEN WE HAVE A HUGE REARVIEW MIRROR. IT'S NICE TO HAVE THAT. YOU CAN SEE WHERE CARS ARE BEHIND YOU WHEN YOU'RE LEADING RACES, WHICH WE PLAN ON DOING A LOT. AND THESE CARS NOW, YOU KNOW, THROWING THE STEERING WHEEL ON, WE'LL HAVE ADJUSTMENT RIGHT HERE ON THE STEERING WHEEL FOR OUR TRACK BAR, WHICH IS AN ADJUSTMENT IN THE REAR. AND SO, WHILE WE'RE DRIVING, WE CAN ADJUST THAT BASED ON HOW THE CAR IS FEELING. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, IT'S ALL WITH YOUR BRAIN AND WITH YOUR FOOT DOWN THERE ON WHAT YOU NEED TO DO AND HOW YOU NEED TO GET THROUGH THE CORNERS. NO ONE HAS THE SAME DRIVING STYLE. I DON'T KNOW IF ANYBODY HAS THE GRIP LIKE I DO. MY LEFT HAND HERE IS AT 9:00. MY RIGHT HAND -- A LITTLE BIT BETWEEN 3:00 AND 4:00, BUT I'LL PUT MY POINTER FINGER UP. SO, A LITTLE WEIRD. SO I'M ALWAYS POINTING UP WHEN I'M DRIVING. I DON'T KNOW IF I'M ALREADY GIVING MYSELF THE NUMBER ONE 'CAUSE WE'RE GONNA WIN THAT RACE. I DON'T KNOW WHY I DO THAT. I JUST DO. THERE'S A LOT OF HOURS THAT WE'RE SITTING IN THIS SEAT RIGHT HERE JUST TRYING TO GET THE CAR BETTER, TRYING TO WIN RACES, AND DOING THE BEST YOU CAN. SO, THERE'S SOME DRIVERS THAT WILL USE THE BATHROOM INSIDE THE CARS. I NEVER HAVE, I NEVER WILL. THEY ALWAYS SAY THE RULE IS THAT IF YOU DO THAT, YOU HAVE TO BE HERE THE MONDAY MORNING WHEN THE CAR GETS BACK TO COME CLEAN OUT THE SEAT, CLEAN OUT THIS AREA. NOT GONNA DO THAT. WHEN I CLIMB IN FOR A RACE, I'M MORE RELAXED THAN ANYTHING. GETTING FOCUSED, FIGURING OUT WHAT OUR GAME PLAN IS FOR TODAY, AND HOW WE'RE GONNA EXECUTE. THIS IS THE TOP LEVEL OF NASCAR, SO YOU HAVE TO BE READY, YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO DELIVER WHEN THE TIME IS RIGHT, AND I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT PROCESS. SO, WITH THAT BEING SAID, IT'S TIME TO GO RACE. I'LL SEE YOU GUYS OUT ON THE RACETRACK. ♪♪ ♪♪
