Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles hey everyone Jennifer from Tarle speech with your pronunciation question today's question is how do I pronounce the word miscellaneous it's a super long word that means things from different sources that are in one group so let's look at that word super long word don't let the spelling confuse you we're going to make this as simple as possible and we're going to break this word into its 1 2 3 4 5 syllables or 5 beats we're gonna have miss uh lay knee us yes we do spell the word knee your leg joint with the K but I took it out so that I wouldn't confuse you here because it is a silent letter so let's start with our first syllable miss to say this lips together for the M mm air moves through your nose move to that short ih sound and to do this your mouth is slightly open and the tip of your tongue is just behind your top front teeth ih ih your lips are relaxed then we're gonna end with an S sss and to do this the air moves out of your mouth while the tip of your tongue is either behind your top teeth or I can't be pointed down some people make it like that next we're gonna add that schwa syllable uh my tip for you is make sure you link that syllable to syllable 1 and syllable 2 missa missa you don't want to say miss a lei it's linked to that first syllable missa then we're going to move to lay and to do this you're going to touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth and then move to that long a sound and to do this you're going to open your mouth in a wide circle which is going to help the tip of your tongue get down and the back of your tongue to be pulled up and then we're going to move to that e vowel when your tongue is going to be flat and high in your mouth and you're going to smile for the end of that vile vowel lay missa lay missa lay and then we're going to move to the knee for this you're going to touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth air moves out of your nose and then smile for that long e knee and then end with an us again short vowel the uh sound relaxed mouth mouth is open tongue is just sort of hanging out in the middle of your mouth and then end with that s and you know how to do this typically tongue either behind the teeth or down and air is moving out of your mouth let's put it all together Missa Lay knee us miscellaneous miscellany us miscellaneous miscellaneous miscellaneous and I do just want to comment that you often will see this word abbreviated Mis C in writing and that would mean miscellaneous so I hope that you have a lot of miscellaneous fun items to complete this weekend give it a try people are going to notice the difference if you found this helpful please give us a like and share us with your friends don't forget to subscribe and I hope that I will see you all again next week take care thanks so much
