Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles My name is Dr. Monica Hanna I am a mother, archaeologist and a scholar, and I use Google to help preserve Egypt's heritage. Egyptians are interested in their past, but research about Egyptian heritage has mainly been done in the west. 95 percent of students have never been to a temple before. And if we do not connect the people of the present with their past this past will not live. I remember when I was a student sometimes books were not in Egypt at all. But now Google has made all the references available at the tip of our hands. Something that used to take three months takes now three seconds or three minutes. My students can visit places that they can't access. And we can look at potential archaeological sites from space. You can see the borders, you can see the places, even if it's under the sand. So we do space archaeology. Technology today can help us save our heritage through documentation, through accessibility, through virtual visits. And I think this will get people more connected. If we can give people access we have a better chance at preserving this heritage for the future generations.
