[WEEK TWO]
"School Struggles" (April 20, 2017)
Ahhh~! Sweet release!
I hope slurping doesn't become a thing for me...
Good EVENING everyone!
Basically, just to start things off,
I'm really STRESSED!
I'm really friggin stressed out
I'm so stressed out that I just broke my phone
outside while trying to get some coffee.
So I have to get the screen fixed
since I can't use it now!
Basically, I am really stressed out
I have my first presentation
and I want to take you guys along with me.
As much as I can for another school vlog, type of thing!
But before we do all of that
I first just have to get it ready
so let's try this out!
Here are all the notes I made earlier on campus
that I need to turn into a powerpoint!
I have a friend staying with me
so I can't film in the morning - I don't want to wake them.
I don't have time to film tomorrow as is
since a friend reminded me it's the last day to take the medical exam,
which is mandatory.
You have to get a certificate of health every year
showing that you're a healthy student and safe to be on campus.
So tomorrow, really early I have to run over there
and get my entire body checked out
and then I have to start doing classes
and back-to-back-to-backPACKED schedule!
And somehow in that time, this presentation is supposed to be done!
Which I'm totally not stressed about at all (*sarcasm*)
I'm going to first get ready now
two days before, and try to get everything ready
and then tomorrow I just have to run through everything
and then the next day we're back to real time
and I"ll try to show you as much again
about my first presentation (JP: "happyo")
in class, and let you know how that went.
The class is for Industry Analysis (JP: "Sangyo Bunseki")
The teacher said we have to teach one class and gave us a list of articles to choose from.
So I don't know what possessed me but
I literally was like:
"I volunteer as tribute! Please take me first!"
I volunteered to go first because
the person who goes first
gets first pick of which articles they present
and I wanted to make sure I did something easy
but with my friend here and everything going on
maybe that was a bad choice?
I don't have time to work through my nerves but
we're going to do it anyway, right?
(I'm scared to present! SAVE ME!!!)
"Good morning! Today's the day! AHH! Let's go!"
So, let's begin!
I'm going to kick off the first presentation for this semester!
Hello, everyone~!!!
Welcome back, it is night time AGAIN!
I just got back from school
and I'm getting ready to go out the door
as you probably noticed by this video
I have not been eating well at ALL recently
so I want to have a nice, healthy snack
before I hit the road again.
So today I'm going to have...
RAMEN!!!
Maybe not healthy, after all!
I hope I did this right!
You're supposed to dump all the water in
Basically, you can strain the water out after you put it in
then you add the flavors
because it's a broth-less tantanmen noodle.
Hiroshima-style?
It sounds good and I love tantanmen
so yeah, I have 3 minutes before this is ready
and thought this is a good time to update you guys
about how it went!
So basically, this week was insane!
I think I'm running off of about 6 hours of sleep
over the last 72 hours (UGHhrhiearow~!)
My eyes are starting to see like
different colored rings around things.
It's not good.
In terms of the actual presentation,
pubic speaking in Japanese
is still, definitely hard for me.
I went through the whole presentation and that was fine
and at the end the teacher started giving some feedback
she had some really good criticism and feedback
and so I felt kind of... challenged??
...should I say??
She basically was like,
"You need to work on your professional Japanese"
"You need to work on commanding a room and being more professional"
and I was like: " GAMEEONNNN THEN~!!"
So I went back and redid some of the parts again
and while I was going asking like: "how's this? How about this?"
Meanwhile, everyone else in the class is like: "what are you doinnggggg?!"
It's good, I was really nervous as first but
as soon as she challenged my Japanese
I was like: "OK, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"
and immediately forgot about being nervous.
I really just wanted to show her my best.
So moving on, I'm thinking that if I ever
need help with nerves and public speaking in the future
I just need like a heckler
Someone like: "you can't even do it! You suck!!"
I need someone across the room to really like
get under my skin.
With that motivation I forget that I'm nervous
and get so focused on showing them that they're wrong.
So, maybe that'll be like my thing in the future!
It's not very positive but
I did so much better after I felt revved up.
(How many minutes left in here...)
After that, I made it through the long week
and had a couple papers after that
and so many things to do...
My friend is still here,
so we're heading up to Sendai, actually!
For a birthday party with some of our really close friends
so I get to end this week with beautiful hot springs
and beautiful landscape.
I talked to my landlady and
I think the cherryblossoms are still blooming up there!
So we'll go and hopefully do some hiking
we'll definitely do some hiking
and we'll see beautiful landscapes and hot springs
which I think is the most Japanese
and most perfect way to close up what has been
a very stressful week.
Just to show you how stressful this week has been:
(A) I lost my keys to the apartment
also (B) my nails are cracked!!
(C) my hair is frizzing out
and then, it's still buzzing but
(D) I broke my phone!! Can you see this?!
Can you see that? There you go!
Can you tell? The screen is like... shattered.
I completely shattered the screen.
So I can't actually use the touch screen because
it thinks i'm touching this spot where it shattered the hardest.
So I can't use my phone!
I have no communications...
But that's ok!
I know that I'm getting on the train in like an hour
I'll run out the door and then head up to Sendai
to close up this vlog, this week
and this struggle that was...Japanese.
So hopefully, I'm keeping up.
I'm the only American in the program
but I'll try and do my best to keep up!
I'll just put in some extra effort
but I think some sleep would be a good start.
I don't even know if I'm making sense anymore so...
Let's get this ramen going!
...I think it's done?
I just poured out the water through there
and it worked! Now to add the rest of the flavors
and get to eating.
OoOOoo yeahhh~!! Looking good!!!
Shaky shaky shaky!!!
I did it!!!
It looks good! I'm really excited for this!
I'm glad it doesn't have soup, 'cause I can probably eat it a little faster...
Let's give this a quick taste!
I just got like a flavor powder chunk!
It's really good! It's like, ginger-y!
it's like really spicy and really gingery!
This really good for 200 yen!!
There goes my diet...
Sendai is going to be so much fun....
Ohhhh no....
Like I was saying,
I'm really looking forward to this
it's time to go out the door!
But I'll try to edit some videos and get them up for you guys!
I ordered a special Ninja Wifi router
just for this trip as well so
that should be good.
It's the same one I used in Sayo-cho when visiting Susumu
and if it worked all the way out there
it'll definitely work out in Sendai so
I'm really happy for that
that's the best friggin internet
so hopefully I can get a lot of videos up and edited
...and some rest. But yeah!
It's time to go!
Thanks for watching!
I'm so glad you liked the last one!
and I hope you like the vlogs in the future!
If you have any questions about student life
or anything, feel free to leave a comment
or you can tweet me:
Tweet: #AskKemushi / @KemushiJP
Maybe I'll shoot a Q & A while I'm up there in Sendai
and we'll get to know each other better, right?
So, thank you for watching!
I'm so excited to relax!
I'll see you guys very soon!
Thanks so much for cheering me on!
