hey guys sam here with another india video and this time we'll be traveling
to the india-pakistan border to watch the border closing ceremony at the attari
wagah border this event is a must do when you come to
amritsar this ceremony marks the closing of the india-pakistan border for the day
and people travel from far and wide to witness the display of military
showmanship dominated by stomping high kicks and
exaggerated movements to be honest it reminded me of attending
a live sporting event it was high energy and a lot of fun with
plenty of cheering dancing flag waving and singing
afterwards we went to the local restaurant where we tried pakistani food
for the first time we had chicken kebab dal mud and curry
and i was also challenged to eat a whole chili
your eyes are watery oh my gosh so join us for a fun evening of
live entertainment and some delicious food
good afternoon good afternoon guys greetings from amritsar punjab india i'm
here with my friend japneet hello and david we're taking a 30
to 40 minute drive to visit the india pakistan border there's going to be an
incredible border closing ceremony i actually got to experience this back
in 2010 and guys let me tell you it is a true spectacle
it is unbelievable so we're going to be going there hopefully early getting some
decent seats and yeah we're going to film the whole thing
afterwards i think we're going to be having some Pakistani food pakistani dishes
we're going to be going to a pakistani restaurant so yeah let's get going
so we just got a rupees two flags yep the indian flag yeah it's 200 rupees so
around three us dollars you take it to the ceremony and you wave
it around right awesome five kilometers away from the border wow
we're getting close we're getting close okay so right here across the river we
have the border with pakistan and this is the import export trade
basically as you can see there's lots of trucks and they bring
stuff and take stuff we are here guys at the border wagah border
the wagah is the village okay at pakistan side yeah attari is at Indian side
oh that's awesome man we're all set with their flags
so this guy is the line here it's getting quite big already
an hour before the ceremony even happened so behind us we have like a
stadium and that's where we're gonna watch
the border closing ceremony and he's saying it's like no man's land basically it's an empty
space that lost no one right yeah
wow
the india pakistan border ceremony takes place daily at the attari wagah border just
before sunset the military event is performed
by india's border security force and the pakistan rangers and is something that
has been done since 1959. technically the whole
purpose behind the ceremony is to lower the national flag and officially close
the border for the night however what takes place is a lively
display featuring marching stomping and plenty of high kicks while
the crowd cheers and breaks into song and dance
it's energetic it's theatrical and it's an event you cannot miss whether you
find yourself traveling in amritsar or across the
border in neighboring lahore
oh Hindustan Hindustan
is
yo
is
is
hey
Pakistan Hindustan Pakistan Hindustan
please
so whoa what an experience what did you guys think of it
i mean it was incredible it was so beautiful seeing everybody loud and
cheerful and you know hindustan i mean what really
surprised me is that the stadium has actually grown since the last time i was
here and yeah if you come here this is
something you gotta do it's just it's like it's like going to a football
match or something yeah i remember getting here really early i mean we got
here like at 4 30. yeah and once we got in we had
this the last seats we did we did it far back yeah so come
early that's the biggest tip anyways we're hungry let's go get some pakistani
food let's do it so we've arrived at sarhad which means
border for some pakistani food my first time to
try pakistani food and yours my second time my first
and probably you've had many times yeah yes
oh my gosh i'm hungry guys i'm here with my friend japaneet
and we've got two dishes that have arrived so far so what's this one
that's the lahari chicken sea kebab and that's the dahi ke kebab
which is basically you told me it was a yogurt kebab yeah okay
so why don't we grab a piece each and we'll try them let me do something for
you oh thank you okay yeah
lemon lemon always enhances food guys you gotta love it so this is basically a
chutney a mint chutney and the same as this one
as well okay let's dip it in take it for a swim
so we've got kebab
oh that is tender yeah so so tender had some herbs and spices yeah and did
you like the mint chutney oh isn't that the best the mint chunky
is the best part it has so much flavor just have some
kick to it actually has some kick to it yeah i agree with you
all right we are trying the yogurt kebab look you can see
the yogurt even inside of it it's got a white
white building yeah and do we put it in the chutney as well
why not right don't get him
oh wow crispy on the outside and kind of like smooth
a little bit creamy in the middle it melts in your mouth exactly you don't
even have to do it right yeah have a bit more
oh wow i like that these dishes are so different from each other
yeah it's nice variety so far and we have a lot more to come don't we yeah
let's bring it on oh my gosh it fell oh yeah oh
not too much too much this is this
this dal is basically there is a eating joint across the border
the first heating joint across the border it is named by miyajika dhaba
this dal comes from that recipe comes from that restaurant
across the border look at all the wonderful food we have here
so like we have basically three different curries
correct and an assortment of different breads this one is the
lahore naan okay basically consists of the onion seeds oh
onion seeds oh you can see them right on the outside
yeah it's very visible the second one is the peshawari naan is that the one with
the dry fruits all the dry fruits is that
one a bit sweet yeah a sweet spicy guys you can see it right in
there and there's nuts as well and now it's time to talk about the
curry so what do we have this is the mutton curry okay okay i'll put it for
you oh thank you that's the miyajiki dal yeah or the
lentil soup i can see the lentils it's big
it's nice they come out it's a chicken curry so the
david had the chili yeah and now sam will have it all right
yeah oh that's a challenge it's falling off the bone
is it it's really tender then oh my gosh that's nice such rich flavors
it's not this one's not so spicy though is it
let's try that lamb right off of the bone
oh yeah that's really tender so the dal yep oh i'm going to try the
other one the shower can i try it with the fruit
yeah the thing that's awesome about naan is it makes such a nice transport for
the curry like you just put it on and it's like you don't need a
spoon you don't need anything else
oh man that's good is that your favorite one yeah maybe
that's my favorite i think that might be my favorite
and this uh this particular naan it's really tasty it's a little bit sweet
it's also nutty yeah it's really good chicken curry time for the chicken curry
and then i gotta try the chili out
a little tender the thing that's nice about the curry here is
they're really rich and flavorful but they're not too spicy
but now i'm going to change that because i'm going to be having
this chili
oh my gosh your eyes are watery oh my gosh my throat is
absolutely on fire and the first few bites i didn't even think
it was spicy and then it just boom so that was the experience
life change no not life changing i'm crying
i did it though i tried it sam's away i survived that are you gonna have it
there's no more chilling
we sure ate a lot of food but you know what there's always room for dessert
uh we have khalifa okay uh that's a vanilla ice cream
vanilla ice cream with some cookies like a cookie like a cookie but it's called
khalifa khattai khalifa thai yeah okay so we have a sauce the fruit is called
khalifa okay the fruit came from pakistan okay
from pakistan directly from pakistan and it looks like chocolate but it's not
right it's not it's not okay oh wow this is
gonna be great let's just dig in
i'm really tasting the nuts and you're right that has
that sauce it has a it almost has like a deep
date like richness to it it tastes like a sweet date to me
and the ice cream complements it really well it helps it kind of go down
smoothly yeah it's a nice dessert you liked it
i really like that what an amazing day thank you so much
for everything you set this all up for us i gotta shake your hand for that
this has been awesome the Pakistan India border closing ceremony is surreal
if you come to amritsar you have to go because it's just
it's theatrical it's like it's like going to a sporting event almost isn't
it it's energetic it's so energetic you
feel the passion on both sides and yeah it's incredible and the food
here is my first time to try pakistani food
so it was a really unique experience some different curries the dessert is
something i've never had before so anyways guys if you've enjoyed the
