  • Bruce, your reaction to Kawai and PG 13 going to L.

  • A to the Clippers.

  • Well, first of all, I thought it was part of the earthquake show out here in California, Jay.

  • I mean, you talk about something is as highly profiled is what I was doing taking his time exactly.

  • Figure out what he wanted to do.

  • And this was a situation where no one knew anything about.

  • No one knew that he was communicating with Paul George as far as trying team up.

  • So I think this is a huge, huge day for the Clippers organization as far as getting marquee stars in their prime, a two time M V p in the finals and quiet, Leonard being able to leave the chart.

  • And now kind of get Paul George a little.

  • A little tulips when it comes to leading a team to a possible championship.

  • It all happened in typical fashion, very quietly, very effectively.

  • Where do you have the Clippers in the whole West hierarchy right now?

  • Well, I think they immediately jumped asleep in the top three in the West.

  • You talk about the defensive aspect of what Paul George could do?

  • I can't stand.

  • This turns a and you know this two way player.

  • It's basketball.

  • You can play defense offense, and that's that.

  • But you talk about two individuals that take pride in defense, along with the full dog like Patrick Beverley, who gets after it.

  • This is going to be a team that they're going to need time to jail together.

  • But I think you gotta look at them in the top three in the Western Conference.

  • Now you hit it at the whole defense of thing Clippers Putting out a team with a three lock down defenders.

  • Dr has got to be happy about that.

  • What options does that give him a coach?

  • Well, one thing.

  • You don't have to rely solely on your offense and be perfect on the offensive end.

  • A lot of times when you are defensively inefficient, you have to be perfect on the offensive end and get exactly once you want each and every time.

  • But when you have the luxury of defense being your staple, at least opportunities in transition, at least a layup, all those things where you don't have to put so much pressure on your offense now on the office aside it will take moments for them to jail together.

  • Spacing is going to be a key for this ball club.

  • Allowing these to operate on opposite ends of the floor will create a lot of great opportunities for a lot of role players, which is concerned for the Clippers.

  • All right, the Lakers miss out on Kowa, but they got a d.

  • How would you characterize the Lakers off season?

  • I thought it was spectacular, J from the simple fact that you get a player like a d.

  • You know, people forget about the big man, but in orderto have success, you know, we see that every year it was about a big man.

  • Then LeBron James goes to Miami, and the narrative kind of changes as far as you can do it with a dominant wing players.

  • But now you add a be broken defend booking command double teams down low on the block because that's out.

  • Now.

  • You take that along with LeBron James, and you still have some young talent in L.

  • A.

  • That's going to allow them to continue to develop.

  • So I think with l.

  • A Lakers have done, it hasn't necessarily.

  • You don't look at them and say they almost did some specials.

  • They just some special.

  • Once they got a D.

  • Bruce, I asked your pocket question.

  • Now all these boys are making big money.

  • But Anthony Davis gave up $4 million so the Lakers could have cap space Flexibility to sign Kawai.

  • Now he's a Clipper.

  • What does that do, if anything to ramp up the rival?

  • Because four million is still four million.

  • Four million?

  • Still four million J.

  • But you have made four million just walking around L.

  • A.

  • So it doesn't really take away.

  • I think it's a great narrative, but you see, you know they're gonna look at it from a standpoint that hey, 80 would be a selfless as a teammate to try to bring on another player's.

  • It's not gonna I don't think it's going to do too much because it is still a business and players have to think about themselves more than anything else.

  • So I don't think it's gonna add to the rivalry because the rivalry is alive and well right now.

  • All right, last one.

  • I want to go to the Eastern Conference.

  • Raptors lose out on Kawai.

  • Katie won't play with the Nets until next year.

  • So who are the top Eastern Conference contenders next season?

  • Well, I think you have to look at Philadelphia as far as being one of those top three.

  • As far as what they're able to do.

  • They were able to get further in the playoffs this year, losing on a last second shot to Toronto Raptors, who were the eventual champions.

  • But you still have a great core there.

  • Now.

  • You have a whole training camp to incorporate the bias hairs within that system.

  • So you had that.

  • Yet our Horford to that mix.

  • I think you look in Philadelphia and you say they really made a lot of noise as far as getting better, and it's hard to get better.

  • Yes, Katie going to Brooklyn along with Kyrie.

  • That's gonna be tremendous with him, But at the same time I lead.

  • Philadelphia's done a tremendous job.

  • Alright, looking forward to it.

  • Bruce Bowen, breaking it down much appreciated my brother.

  • Thank you, sir.

  • Thanks for watching ESPN on YouTube.
