Tenaya Lodge!

Hey Tenaya!

Ooohhh so nice in here.

Smells great.

Gonna check-in.

We are at Tenaya Lodge but we're not actually staying in their hotel, which is nice

but we're staying in their new Explorer Cabins. They have several cabins throughout the property

and we're staying in this one right here at number 46

and to start off, they said we have a great view because they said a lot of wildlife comes out here.

So I'm very excited about seeing some wildlife.

The cool thing about Tenaya Lodge is that they give you wristbands.

You can also get card keys but you get wristbands to open up your your cabin

or any of the amenities inside the hotel

which is a five minute walk, actually. They also have free shuttles back.

But let me give you this tour.

And here is our cabin!

This is our lovely living room.

We got these nice gifts. How awesome is this!?

Aw, we got little badges that say Tenaya Lodge Explorer Cabins. That's so great.

So we have six people with us and this does fit six people. We have the sleeper sofa right there

so that turns into a bed.

And one of our favorite things that me and Candy like about this cabin is that they provide games!

Monopoly! I was just talking about UNO too.

I was like, I forgot to bring my UNO cards and they had it! It's like they read my mind.

And here's our kitchen.

We have a microwave, coffee and they provided... yeah,

so here's all the coffee and tea we can have. They even provide these creamers.

And um...

That's for s'mores!

Oh, the s'mores, yes! We can make s'mores at the fire pit.

So they said they have seven fire pits here in the Explorer Cabin area

and they provide all the stuff there that we need to make s'mores and I'm kinda excited about this too.

Some paper plates and bowls. Some plastic cups.

Our friend brought plastic cups because she wanted plastic cups but we have them right here.

And we have a nice big fridge here. You can store a lot in here actually.

There's a freezer with ice box. You got lots of room.

This is really cute too. So they provide a bunch of travel gear - or - camping gear

where they give you a flashlight, binoculars to see the wildlife

and some hiking sticks.

because there is a trail out here that we can go to and there's a beaver dam which I'm so excited about.

I can't wait to see that.

Crystal gave you the tour of the living room and kitchen

but I did want to mention one thing that she didn't mention was the fireplace

and this is very easy to use. It's just one switch right here.

I always have a horrible time putting on fireplaces because I have one at home

and it always scares and when I put the lighter in so I'm glad this is just a switch.

Also there's A/C so that's awesome

because we are here in September

so right now it's cool but it does get a little bit warm during the day

so it's nice that there's A/C to stay cool especially me take showers

because then it starts getting really warm.

Each of the rooms actually have their own temperature control.

So here's the first bedroom and they even have their own TV in their first bedroom.

So they've got a closet here, their own TV, the window, nice comfy bed

and even extra comforters up there.

This is the bathroom. It's very spacious.

They provide plenty of q-tips and cotton which is great.

Blow dryer, plenty of towels...

and I love this shower.

The tiles in here - I like how they have shelves so if you bring your own stuff

if you prefer to use your own shampoo or your shaver or whatever there's little a shelf there

but they give you shampoo and conditioner and body wash

so you don't have to bring it if you want to use theirs.

There's extra toilet paper...

Oh! More towels. Yay! Thank you.

Alright, let me show you the other bedroom.

This bed's a little bit bigger than the other one.

The cool thing about this room is the balcony!

Yes! So, what I imagine is we're all gonna wake up in the morning

drink coffee and we're gonna watch all the wildlife.

So peaceful right now. They said that you'll hear a lot of birds in the morning...

Oh yeah, I'm so excited for that.

I'm very very excited to just chill and watch the wildlife.

There's also a TV in this room too so each room actually has a TV.

To give you an idea of where we are

this is the Explorer Cabins area and this is the main hotel and lobby

which they call the lodge and it's just a short five-minute walk so we don't have to

drive back and forth to go to the main lobby

because this is where all the restaurants, shops...

when we have our buffet in the morning for breakfast this is where we'll be going

so it'll be like a nice walk up there in the morning.

Anyways, all of this is brand new and unfortunately due to rain this year in California,

which is good for California...

the clubhouse that they're building here in the Explorer Cabin area is still under construction

but it's almost done so hopefully when you're here it'll be ready.

Also, these cabins have plenty of outlets and they're next to the bed.

There's even outlets in the hallway so plenty of outlets if you need to charge a lot of stuff like us.

and I'm just ready to get started staying here because there's plenty of activities,

the s'mores, the trails, the wildlife in the morning...

I'm ready.

I already love our guide, Ethan. He's funny.

Yeah, he's a little jokester but he's gonna show us some bear sightings

where they usually see bears and where they claw at the trees.

We'll also learn some history about the Native Americans.

Yeah, I'm pretty excited. It's not a strenuous hike. It's like a loop and they said it'll last about an hour.

Yep.

It's a nice calming, relaxing hike in this forest.

It's already beautiful - the surroundings because we are in the National Forest right now. I just saw a sign.

Oh, ok. Nice.

Alright, I didn't know we could eat ferns and he said it tastes like oranges.

Oh! I do taste it. Crystal said it tastes like grass but...

Well, the aftertaste yeah. Now I kind of taste it but originally it tasted like grass.

But yeah, who knew?

Who knew you could eat this stuff.

A really quick way to kind of separate the fool's gold from the real gold is to kind of...

take it... like I said, a pan works better cuz you can do a lot more

you kind of take it and run it through the water. See all that stuff that's kind of flittering down?

Yeah.

That's fool's gold. You can tell for sure because the fool's gold is not as heavy as real gold.

And then what you're left with is the real deal.

So not as many. You can see it's not as shiny but that's all real gold.

So I probably have about three dollars in my hand.

Hahaha!

Pull back, keep your elbow nice and high. Aim a little bit lower than you think

and then...

Wow!

Two fingers around it. Yup, just like that. Elbow nice and high.

Ooohhh!

I'm terrible at this.

Awww... at least it hit it tho.

Look at the... it's a beaver dam right there.

Ooohhhh!!! This is the beaver dam!

We just did a nature walk right behind our cabin.

There's like a little path and there's a creek here. We saw a beaver dam!

We just came here - they already have chairs set out here so we just came here, had some drinks

stepped into the water.

Yeah and the water is surprisingly cold.

Yeah.

But yeah, it was so nice just to sit out there and enjoy the sound of the creek...

skipping some rocks which was fun and hanging out with our friends.

Our stay at the lodge is coming to an end.

Mhmm... yeah we had a really great time here. All of us did not, just me and Candy

but our friends really enjoyed it here. They were so impressed with everything and we were too.

Yeah and we were happy that they were really happy.

Yeah.

Also what we really enjoyed was the people - the service here - just above and beyond.

So generous. We really loved Carla

Yes! Carla - thank you, you're so sweet.

Carla is probably our favorite here.

Yes, Carla's our favorite.

Because as soon as we checked in at the cabins, she walked us down, showed show us around

and she gave us tips on what to do around here.

She's just - she's so excited about this place, you know?

So it made us excited.

It was the perfect combination of doing a little bit more hiking and exploring

plus relaxation because they also have a spa here - a really nice spa which the guys enjoyed.

Yeah and even if you go to the spa, you don't have to get a massage or a facial

you can still enjoy it with their sauna room and steam room which they use eucalyptus.

And they have an awesome indoor pool

They even have a game room if you wanna go to the game room.

Outdoor pool as well.

Oh, an outdoor pool too, yeah.

and they have two restaurants - one's fine dining which we did not eat at

but we did eat at their other restaurant that's more casual

and we ate there basically every night while we were here. Actually, breakfast lunch and dinner

we would eat there.

But we didn't feel like we were eating the same thing all the time because their selection...

Yeah, they have a variety of dishes on the menu.

But yeah, we didn't feel like, Oh gosh, we have to eat there again?

Because we always want to go back and try something else.

We liked that it was a one-stop shop here. I mean, we were fine not venturing out of here at all.

Except for one time we went to Mariposa Grove to check out the sequoia trees.

But that was about it.

Yeah that was it. That was the only time we left the property.

Oh! We also noticed that they offer pet massages

so if you bring your fur babies, they get pampered too

and we saw a bunch of them on the property.

We did. They like to say that it's not "pet-friendly", but their "pet passionate"

They're really, really are good to your pets here

So yeah, we really enjoyed our stay here.

Everything about this place was amazing. We want to come back. Our friends when I come back.

We had a great bonding time with our friends. Well, actually not only with our friends

but the people around here...

the other guests that were staying here, yeah.

So thank you so much for this stay. We really enjoyed it.

And yeah, if you're looking for a great communal bonding moment

and just want to be out in nature, these cabins are so awesome.

We highly recommend it. Especially if you have a group of people or a family

these cabins are the way to go here.
