Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles in today's video we're going to share with you our day in Puerto Piramides this the only town located within the peninsula valdes Nature Reserve the one curveball is that this is the day our microphone officially stopped working and we don't realize until the afternoon so half of our clips have no audio but don't worry we'll do our best to fill in the gaps for you so we started the day off bright and early we were staying out of Oceano Patagonia an eco hotel located right on the beach and we had heard from the staff that the Sun rises here are legendary we decided to take their advice and get up early to hike the nearby cliffs and witness the whole coastline washed aglow by that morning light and yes we set an alarm to make it happen got it barely have sunrise what did you think wow it's been amazingly views and just the way that the light has been revealing different parts of the peninsula has been incredible I almost didn't make it I woke up this morning I was asleep in I'm so glad we came and did the hike and the higher you get the views just become even more spectacular because you can see a part of the beach that isn't even really used by the public there's a second Beach just to the left of the mean one it's like a secret beach like a secret Beach guys it's pretty afterwards we walk back to the hotel and enjoyed a tasty breakfast that featured artisanal bread jams and dulce de leche we even had the resident cat join us for kibbles Ozzy's bidding here oh look at that Meow's is as a tasty guys we even travel with cat food what can I say for those who don't believe us this is the bag of cat food we purchased once we arrived in Cordoba and we've been feeding friendly cats ever since haven't we Meow's is well hello hello guys today we are spending the whole day exploring Puerto Piramides this yesterday was about sightseeing around the peninsula tomorrow will be about more sightseeing around the peninsula today we're sticking to the town and nearby attraction yeah so we're gonna check out the beach we're gonna do some hikes hopefully see a nice sunset and yeah that's gonna be your day I want to go kayaking guys it is hot is all I can tell you wowie whoo we are currently on our way to the lo vidya which is a place by the water where the sea lions and elephant seals have their babies apparently that's where they teach them how to swim so we want to go see that they told us it's a bit of a walk up the hill anywhere between five to seven kilometres the information seems to vary so you figured let's do it what time of day is it right now Sam I don't know if you can hear that 9:00 in the morning but it feels like midday and he is not joking so if you come here lather up with your sunscreen bring lots of water a hat got a scarf to cover myself as well but yeah we really want to see those sea lions and elephant seals so we are on our way but it feels like we're walking through the desert Oh shade here's the lovely shade we love you shade Emma it looks like we're in the right direction yes gonna be a lighthouse in the distance I can see it right over there over there well hard to see on camera but to the naked eye well we made it we hitched a ride with a kind stranger from the Netherlands who drove us the rest of the way so now we can admire the seals and the sea lion ooh and the water looks beautiful after visiting the sealions we returned to the hotel on foot but it took us way longer since we ended up getting lost under the scorching Sun we somehow missed the turnoff for the hiking trail that cuts back into town so we had to hike along the highway which wasn't a whole lot of fun but we rewarded ourselves with one of the best meals ever at a restaurant called la Cucaracha hello what did you order oh there's one heck of a big burger so I got the Patagonia burger made with lamb meat Wow we even let me let me lift the hood oh look at all the baked cheese on top guys that is a big patty and underneath stuffed with greens and look at this sun dried to me sun-dried tomatoes looks really interesting and that's a big burger a sequel a burger also came with some wedges here you know the burger is so large it looks like he could share it if you wanted to but not that I want to share mine is so good hope that I want to share follow this either so good just the meat the meat is what makes a man Wow done to prevent them excellent but I got to tell you I personally think I ordered bus this time I got the giant ravioli stuffed with prawns in a mussel cream sauce topped off with calamari a la provençale this seafood pasta dish still makes my mouth water alright guys so now we are walking around town we are currently on Avenida de la SOPA de nos that means Avenue of the whales it's the main drag here in puerto piramides it is hot how are you doing it's hot but I mean wowie but it's so colourful there's some fascinating murals there's some really colorful looking cafes and restaurants I think we're gonna pop in maybe get a cool tea or something wonderful I guess a perfect way to spend an afternoon here in this town if you're asking yourself where is everybody right now why is this town so empty so dead it's because everyone is at the beach it's also siesta time it is what time is it it's literally it's in the thick of siesta time it's the 4:30 in the afternoon 4:30 it's the hottest time of the day everyone's chilling out either at the beach or sleeping yeah it's awesome because walking down this little stretch of town a few blocks away from the beach we kind of have it all to ourselves love it we walked up and down the main drag looking for a place to have a cool drink but it was quite evident that all the establishments were on siesta time we then returned to the beach where we found a hotel with smoothies on the menu so this seems like a good time as any to give you a tour of the hotel where we've been staying so right now we are at Oceano Patagonia which is an eco hotel right on the beach like quite literally if you look outside our window we have a terrace sand some vegetation and then ocean I can see people swimming in there right now but anyways let's focus on the indoors let's begin the tour first things first I'm going to show you our little office and breakfast nook this is where we've been eating in the mornings with a beautiful setting um and one thing that I really like about this hotel is that they stock your fridge with breakfast supplies so it doesn't matter at what time you wake up once you're hungry and you're ready to eat you can help yourself and we've got some different jams cream cheese dulce de leche orange juice milk they left us eggs fruits butter and then in the warnings they also give us fresh bread artisanal bread so good it's a pleasure to eat right here this is like our living area we have two nice comfy chairs we can sit here enjoy the view read a bit or plan the next leg of our travels as we've been doing we've also got like a little kitchenette area happening you can do some light cooking and prepping so yeah perfect for a self-catered holiday here is the bed large and spacious very very nice oh and one thing I should also mention is that for a lot of the furniture they've used recycled wood so it kind of has rustic feel to it it feels very warm cozy but also modern because we have concrete floors and like these massive windows so yeah it's been good we've enjoyed our safe if you follow me this way I'll show you the bathroom quickly so nice big shower rainforest showerhead we've got our sink lots of counter space toilet bidet we also have quite a bit of storage space but we haven't actually bothered unpacking since we're only here for a couple of days but there you have it our room at Oceano Patagonia yeah it's been good I'm gonna be sad to leave this place tomorrow but there's more of Argentina love to see so onwards we go our plan for the late afternoon had been to rent some kayaks and enjoy some time out on the water once the Sun wasn't quite as strong but it just wasn't meant to be by the time we went down to the beach most of the stands had either closed up shop or they were in the process of packing up their kayaks so that was that you win some you lose some this wasn't our best day in terms of things going to plan but that's just travel for you we hope you still enjoyed this little tour of Puerto Piramides and we'll see you in the next video with another day trip around the peninsula
