Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles the world's top court is calling for ousted Sudanese President Omar al Bashir and other suspected of war crimes in Darfur to face justice without further delay. Theo, International Criminal Court's chief prosecutor, is on what she calls a historic visit to Khartoum. She says options for prosecuting them, including a trial in Sudan and a hybrid tribunal are being discussed with Sudanese authorities. I am encouraged by the frank and open and constructive exchanges we have had. I particularly welcome the assurances of support and cooperation expressed to me by the authorities during this visit, including from His Excellency Prime Minister Hamda. Bashir has been in jail in Khartoum since he was forced from his office in April 2019 following months of protests. The I C C has outstanding arrest warrants against him and others on charges of war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity in Darfur. Theo Darfur Conflict in the west of Sudan escalated from 2000 and three when mainly non Arab rebels took up arms against Bashir's government, triggering a campaign of repression by the army on militias.
