That means there are lots of beaches on plenty of seafood. Today I'm in Split, which is a coastal city on the Adriatic Sea. This'll area is called the River, which is the main promenade along the harbor. On a sunny day, it's packed with people going for walks, eating lunch and admiring the view of the sea. Just beyond the Riva, you can walk through the old town, where you will find stone buildings with terracotta roofs and streets paved with white marble. This is the home of Diocletian Palace, which was built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the fourth century. The palace was used as Diocletian retirement home after he stepped down for being emperor in 305 a. D. But my favorite part about split is the food. Let's go inside and get some dinner. Seafood risotto and homemade pasta are some of the local specialties. One of the most famous dishes is black risotto, which is made with cuttlefish and cuttlefish. Ink looks so good. Seafood is another popular favorite, a swell as beef stew with homemade gnocchi. If you love seafood being by the ocean and learning about Roman history, then you should definitely add split to your bucket list. You won't regret it. Oh!
