we're gonna be exploring the mangwon market (망원시장) now this is a bit of a special

market for me because I actually went here with Audrey three years ago it's a

little slice of deja vu to be back here anyways this is a very much a local

market yesterday we went to Namdaemun a very touristy market this is a local

market completely different there's a lot of street food options there's a lot

of other vendors down here so in terms of getting here we started off at around

Seoul station we took the light blue line transferred at samgakji station on

the brown line came here to malwan station I think it took about 20 minutes

not very long at all we walked through a bit of a local outdoor market people

selling fruits and vegetables then we came into here now the only thing left

to do is to go eat some delicious Korean Street food let's go do that

but David what'd you think of the market so far it was really cool it's very

different very long passageway very wide everybody's like that they have their

startup setup right here you know it ends what I notice is that here we have

butchers yeah here we have like a supermarket you know you buy your

groceries across you have super fresh vegetables over here we have some socks

that's basically what you'll find in most markets the biggest difference is

this is not for tourists these are for locals

well the first thing we're starting off with we got two hot bars (핫바) one for each of

us they're only Tomo on each one thousand

Korean Won about 90 US cents and basically what it is obviously the

cheese inside it's a cheese hop bar outer layer is similar to odeng it's

maybe fish so it should have a spongy exterior I'm really excited to try this

I'm having to had this one in particular I've had other hot bars but not this one

I should mention it was microwave just heated up in the microwave mmm

super fishy okay so the old gang part the fish part is much thicker than I

thought I'm gonna show you guys and instead of being like a big thick piece

of cheese it's more like a cheese sauce kind of like a cheese whiz oh yeah it's

a nice big bite of cheese and you're helping me out with some hot sauce it's

odd they also have ketchup and mustard - mmm oh my gosh that spicy mayo well no

but it's actually very delicious kind of an artificial cheese what's still really

yummy every guy's like cheese was that's kind of what it's like inside deep Ohana

just they open it go home they dive so I am trying a kind of street food in Korea

I've never had before it's called Jwipo (쥐포) and I believe it's a

kind of fish that's really the only thing I've been able to gather from the

conversation I have with the owners by the way the very a very nice couple and

they gave us some free gochujang sauce to go with it the korean red pepper paste

so the only thing left to do is to dip it in just like that oh yeah

Oh master cell ma'am Oh warm you know what that reminds me of I was like a

warm it tastes like warm squid to me like a warm dried squid such a tough fry

a little tight yeah but not to talk I'm definitely chewy edible glue the flavor

it goes perfect with the gochujang sauce so go to jung gives it a real nice kick

we have a bit more I think you know like this one a lot this is delicious crispy

on the outside - we threw out loads of flavor I love the texture and then

wanting a bit of like a hard jelly I'm very pleasantly surprised I would go out

of my way to have this again in terms of the price 2000 Won so about a dollar

seventy-five US and it's cool because it was cooked on a grill being flipped a

little bit to heat it up yeah this slice tipped with the scissors and put it into

individual bite-sized pieces in the paper cup how do you recommend this

guy's Jwipo (쥐포) try the Jwipo (쥐포) dude what did you think of the Jwipo (쥐포) oh man the

Jwipo (쥐포) is so good I'm very surprised that we hadn't tried it yet yeah you

said you were noticing it I was noticing I saw a Busan on a bunch of times you

were like we don't know what it is puff fish someone's behind us behind us we

have you know a vendor here in the market has super fresh fish this is all

caught today a few things are still alive like the crab saw some shrimps and

they're still moving look at this I've never seen this fish it's like it's

super long and almost so she's a barracuda but it's definitely not here

we have the flatfish we ate at the other day we had it at the fish market in

Busan Wow freaking delicious so tasty best for Jo Bob basically the Korean

sushi for sure and look another street food item right here I don't know we're

gonna eat this but it looks like tempura oh yeah yum yum

Oh some of the maga so we're moving on to our third item something called tumse

jeon 전 I've never had this before it's so cool like we're trying all this

unique Korean Street food on this tour here in mangwon market (망원시장) okay so basically

for just two and one for just 1,000 won 190 8090 US cents we got all of this and

it's like a goodie platter of different I think

it's basically big battered fried ingredients so over here it appears we

have like some sticks with maybe some seaweed

maybe pork and vegetable bites I'm not entirely sure we've got two of those

over here might be some kind of a fish and I have no idea what that one is so

this is gonna be a matter of fighting them and trying them so let's try that

mmm oh yeah Oh super juicy oh my gosh I did this cucumber super juicy

Wow how about 100 loads us alright moving on to the next one

this is like a Korean style shish kebab looks like the first one is gonna be ham

let's try a big bite it up mmm that was why I'm 15 I was like a piece of life

kind of like spam almost and there's a juicy like a juicy leak it's a nice

assorted by it really nice there hey moving on to this one mmm Oh YUM

this one has like kind of a meat filling minced ground pork think it has a little

bit of onion a little bit of scallions mmm I suppose it taste his bite so far

and last we have this one last one to try

oh yeah that's first mmm uber Thunder boom those are the best one the fish you

got from fishing trip you know what old is food for Tom one the rest is yours

dude like this is the best value street food dish we've had in all of Korea the

amount of food we got for just home-along are like unbelievable

you could eat just this to yourself and like turn it into a lunch practically

for a dollar the only thing is that it's not so

healthy it's good though right yeah I have my turn

so guys over here there's a place selling Korean style chicken Dakkangjeong 닭강정 they have

all kinds of flavors sweet and sour spicy meat chicken and

the other one there is one called super sweet chicken that's what it was okay

we're trying a traditional Korean drink Makgeolli (막걸리) so it's rice wine

yeah and you normally actually have this with the jeon you know the kimchi jeon and

the Hamill Padang sweet pad okay this is the drink you pair it with oh wow rice

see wine when you have a like a big kick of alcohol there yeah so what I like

about it is it has a kind of has a milky consistency really really tasty

very delicious matcha soil what you see - oh yeah so in terms of markets in

Seoul this is actually my favorite market I just feel it's the most lively

the most local and the most diverse in terms of things you can buy here it's

incredible the variety I mean from fruits to dried fish deep fried chicken

I'm just saying things that are in front of me it's just unbelievable the variety

and if you do come to Seoul I would suggest seeking out some of these more

local markets because honestly the touristy ones are quite overrated in my

opinion next up we're trying Samgyupsal (삼겹살) which is one of the most delicious types

of Korean barbecue you have basically pork belly and we're eating it at Sam

told John and the guy working here has been so nice to offer us up for example

oh thank you I guess getting a little bit of a oh it's delicious

oh my gosh I still got so much flavor tender a little bit fatty which I like

mmm I could eat that all day long so how long have you guys been cooking

the we're nationwide we have about 17 stores location stores and this is our

16th one oh we made it in this is our first one in seoul okay I started a table

okay we were just in Daegu thought oh nice

nice no what happened was that we built this oven to sell to the restaurant okay

but it didn't do so well we didn't sell too much to the restaurants so we were

just like let's just take it to the market cook our meat instantly and

there's my show the people that are oven works Oh what happens is this became

successful but we're still not selling any of it okay we select two or three

more how can people find you here in the market just google my 1 ma ma ng w 1 w

om yep and then you know like I don't know if you just want to pinpoint our

store you guys are almost right in the intersection area yeah yeah we should

have gotten the spot over there cuz it's all like concentrated over there for all

the stuff you could eat like ready to eat and go to a bigger piece oh thank

you delicious could have one these are usually like the regular size oh yeah oh

my gosh I'm jump over amazing this is perfect for the occasion yeah thank you

it's right in the middle isn't it delicious some cups all guys right here

in Seoul South Korea so dude we have walked the entire market

finally we went slowly and surely there's just so much to see I mean my

goodness I could just hang out here all day and just people watch you know I

mean it's never-ending yeah and I just love how people aren't here like on

their bicycles picking them you know like live fish yeah eating street food

really really saw that this lady came in and she paid for the fish put it on her

bite on her biker I can just wrote off I was amazing this is amazing and it

appears that right behind here there's like a World Cup market that

continues so it's like it's almost like one giant market it's really just a

road across the road and then there's another one like Roberts is not gonna

explore that one today but we've loved this market definitely my favorite

market in Seoul what do you think I think so I mean I'm only a minute too

but yeah I've been to a few and this is my favorite definitely and there's like

I think a dozen market you know almost every neighborhood has a market like

this but a lot of them are unheard of so guys keep that in mind if you're staying

somewhere in Seoul maybe instead of going to a touristy market just see if

if there's a local one nearby you and there's a nick spicy spicy oh my gosh

this next vendor has been so friendly he's given us some extra tteok to try I

think this one has sweet chili paste mmm so delicious so sweet a little bit spicy

know what we ended up doing is Graham 3000 Won deep Fried Chicken KFC Korean fried

chicken the best in the world and this is there's all kinds of different spices

that they saw but we decided Nev and I are suckers for spice delivery with the

spiciest one it's called male specifically it's called mailmouse male

Matt I can't wait to try it this is a giant piece

and it's just coated in glaze which is gonna be the spicy hmm Oh mom certain is

like next-level tender in the middle super crunchy on the outside the fried

portion and yet this is spicy but it's also very sweet too

it's a sweet and sour sauce sorry I want to correct myself it's a sweet sour and

spicy sauce if I lived in Korea it wouldn't have the beer belly I have a

KFC Korean fried chicken belly alright guys so we are ending where we are

beginning from the front entrance here of the Mangwon market (망원시장) Mong one see Jong

oh my gosh what an incredible experience I mean the food was fantastic but the

people here are even friendlier come for like the service he was just incredible

everyone was so friendly every vendor extra service they enjoyed having us

film like nobody told us off nobody said no no no no camera it was just amazing

what an amazing experience we love this market and our favorite thing was

probably at the very end the chicken let spicy sweet sour chicken it's a game

changer if you like deep-fried chicken you've

got to come here and try it at this market there's also just many many

things to try it we just scratch the surface to be honest there's so many

more things that you can try here anyways guys if you enjoyed this video
