If you come here, you drink the Kool Aid. You'll never want to leave paradise. It's Disneyland for seniors. This doesn't find me the best day of my life. The villages in Central Florida is home to 130,000 retirees. It's a network of small communities built around shared recreation facilities. There's a feeling of second youth in the villages. Everyone drives golf carts. Although there are plenty of Biden signs on display, the trump signs are far more common. Yeah, the President picked a different form of transport for his visit to the villages last week. I see you driving around in those beautiful golf carts. The most beautiful carts. I want to get one. I'm gonna get a golf cart like that. But you have the best and you're always fighting for me. And I'm always fighting for you. And I appreciate it. That's why we're here. But there's some evidence from polling that seniors aren't so keen on the president at this election. some seniors have definitely turned against Trump here in the villages. Trump won overwhelmingly, and he will win the Villages again this year, we won't win by the same margins that he did in 2016. And so the way that I look at this is if I can peel away Trump supporters from 2016 who are now Joe Biden supporters and add them to the statewide total that will help move Florida into going for Joe Biden next week. Those 29 electoral votes will put Joe Biden into the win column. The coronavirus seems to be one big reason for older voters changing their minds. Polling suggests that many believe the president has made poor leadership and policy decisions on the virus. Oh, I know everybody's upset about that. I mean, how many businesses have gone out of business and how many people have died, You know, it's just unbelievable. And he didn't do anything when he knew it on January 3rd, he kept it all a secret. But of course, not everyone feels the president has performed badly. Jo Tweedy is 80 years old, on drives his hot rod cart in his socks. He's done everything he could have done. I think he was the first one that immediately stopped the flights coming in from China. And immediately all the Democrats, including Joe Biden, jumped on him, calling xenophobic and racist and everything else and same thing when he shut it off a week later from Europe had he not done it. Who knows how many might have been a million died by now, You know, as you wander around the villages, something doesn't quite ring true. The buildings claim an impressive heritage, and there are helpfully historical markers dotted around the place. This Waas, apparently the telegraph office, where someone by the name of Charles Flying fingers bah Roman was famous for the speed of his Morse code messaging. Except it's all nonsense. This place was built out of nothing in the 19 eighties and nineties. The Village is is selling seniors, ah, view of the past of America. That's reassuring. That's comforting, but it's entirely fabricated. Similarly, the Democratic Party in this election is telling older voters that only they can bring the old America back and America of decency of unity. But is that America any more real than this one? Yeah, this is the Bacci Breakfast Club an hour or so in the gentle morning sun, playing a cross between bowls on Patan. They are mainly Trump supporters here on skeptical of Joe Biden's promise to bring the country together. I'd like to see unity, but I don't think he's the guy to pull it off. He hasn't done anything in 50 years. I don't think he's still gonna do anything. There's not much of a choice or is unconcerned. You're really gonna have socialism. And, you know, Biden could barely wipe his ass, you know? I mean, he's never gonna make it. They're gonna put that other camera in there for the voice for president. Probably. He won't make it past three weeks. It looks like they want to socialize America. And of course I'm not in favor of that. And that's the way it seems. Toe to a lot of us down here who worked hard for a living, saves a few pennies so we could come down and and live in Florida. And a lot of people don't do that. We don't look, I look upon those people. Hey, why should we give to those people who aren't really we're not working at, but there's a very different feel on the shuffleboard court nearby here. The teams are mixed on talking politics, discouraged. It would sort of turn people off one way or another. People like to talk about their kids way. Don't talk about politics at all. We like to keep our friends. I'll be glad when it's over. Whatever is decided, I will support the president, but I will be glad it's over. E. This might well be the last generation of Americans who can afford to retire in this kind of style. Many baby boomers benefited from jobs for life with generous company pensions. The stock market on house prices moved in their favor, generations coming behind a far less secure on with the winning margin in Florida last time of just 1%.
