  • It's crunch time here on the jump.

  • And, of course, we have been talking about the loss to the MBA family.

  • A legend with the passing of Tommy Heinsohn.

  • Hynson was a player coach broadcaster for the Boston Celtics for more than 60 years with the team for all 17 of its MBA championships.

  • Perk.

  • We talked about Tommy a little bit on the show yesterday, but we wanted to play that clip reel just so people could really here some of his best moments and you got toe.

  • Have him call your games when you were a player and then work with him is a broadcaster, too, right?

  • Absolutely.

  • Rachel and look, great guy.

  • A legend around Boston.

  • Uh, I remember as an 18 year old kid, Tommy Heinsohn took me under his wing.

  • He used to talk to me before every game about what I need to do.

  • And I tell you what.

  • I used to go out there and play, not to score points, to get rebounds, but I used to just want to get Tommy points.

  • I mean, just a world class, I'm telling you, a world class man, great individual.

  • His wife, Helen, who died in 2000 and eight was also a phenomenal woman.

  • Uh, my wife and I went to that house for dinner on plenty of occasions because I was raised by my grand parents and they gave me that type of feeling and that and that woman feeling so you know, I'm gonna miss Mr Hyson.

  • Mr Tommie, he truly was.

  • Ah, great figure in my life.

  • A great role model and in the city of Boston is gonna miss him.

  • I mean, just a great guy all the way around in the legend and iconic figure, especially around the New England area.

  • Absolutely well, by I know I'm including Zach here to on behalf of everyone at the jump.

  • We offer our condolences.

  • Just a loss, a real loss for the MBA community.

  • I want to move on to Danny Green because he said on his show inside the Green Room that DeMarcus cousins should receive a championship ring from the Lakers.

  • Now, Cousins didn't play a game for the Lakers this year, remember?

  • He was rehabbing the injury.

  • He was cut late in the year to make room for Markieff Morris, but he was certainly around the team.

  • Plenty perk.

  • Do you think cousins should indeed get a ring?

  • Absolutely.

  • Look, I heard on one I heard one time my brother, Matt Barnes, said he didn't deserve a ring when he was with Golden State.

  • No, listen, you deserve one.

  • Even if you didn't play a minute, you played a vital role on that team.

  • Whether it was camaraderie, whether it was showing up, getting work every day, being around the team, you play some type of role.

  • And I think the Marcus cousin deserve a role with the Lakers.

  • He played more than half of the season with him.

  • Yeah, it's not for us to decide who gets the ring and who doesn't get a ring.

  • I think it's for the players.

  • And if the players feel that the Marcus Cousins deserves a ring, give the man some jewelry on.

  • The important thing to remember here, too, is that when we go back and we talked about who earned ring, it's not like even if the Marcus gets this ring, he's gonna walk around in future years and be like, Oh, I'm a champion, you know?

  • I mean, this will be more like the rings they give out to people in the organization for doing different things.

  • And I agree with you the players think he deserves when he deserves one.

  • All right, you're seeing Minnesota Timberwolves video Reportedly interested in trading for a second lottery pick in this year's draft.

  • Sak real quick.

  • Fill us in on the details here.

  • Yeah, I mean, look, this has been out there for a week or so now, and I divide I've been getting from the Timberwolves the whole time is we're only going to trade him is part of a package for a superstar or for a draft pick high enough in this draft or a future draft that it will help us trade for a superstar.

  • So basically, what you're hearing is Jared Culver or Pick X, which is not necessarily the better player, even, but which is the better means for us to trade for a superstar somewhere down the line.

  • I think that's the calculus here in Minnesota.

  • I think this is absolutely, very riel.

  • Interesting.

  • All right, we'll be watching that.

  • Want to move on to the n B.

  • A memo that was spent toe all 30 teams with guidelines on how to safely allow fans in the stands for the 2021 season.

  • And the coronavirus Pandemic, of course, is gonna play a role in that.

  • The memo states that the recommendations air quote subject to approval from any applicable state and local public health authorities.

  • And that's really important, because if you look at the state regulations on Lee, three states where MBA teams play allow more than 100 people to assemble indoors.

  • This is the big, big difference between basketball foot and we get to football and baseball.

  • Seven States Onley allow up to 25 people to congregate in.

  • One place endures, so the MBA would ostensibly have to get special permission just to have both teams and coaches and everyone play a game, much less fans.

  • Here are some of the other key guidelines from the league physical distancing and masks required from fans, except when actively eating or drinking fans seated within 30 ft of the court.

  • So that gives a little hint of courtside seats.

  • Maybe returning well, those fans must return a negative Covad test.

  • As for sweets, will capacity could be a Zayas 50% if all the fans in the sweet are tested Zach.

  • We know how much it would mean to the MBA toe.

  • Have some fans back in the stands from a financial standpoint, But with so few places actually allowing substantial indoor gatherings, is it even worth it?

  • For the MBA to go down this road and add another labor to this cove?

  • It's sort of complicated season.

  • We had a stark reminder yesterday with the practice facility being closed, that we're back in the real world.

  • We spent a lot of time debating the Yeah, the ethics of the bubble, you know?

  • Is it fair to the players?

  • Is it safe?

  • Well, we're back in the right in regular life knowing whatever memo they sent out today or tomorrow, the virus is gonna dictate what the next memo is and what the next rules are.

  • So I don't even find it.

  • You know that that newsworthy or that interesting, Because the story is gonna change every day, and this just underscores the fact that this season is going to be very strange and very weird.

  • And you just have to cross your fingers that it's also very safe because we're out of the bubble.

  • Now we're back in regular life, not with Zach, but Rachel.

  • Listen, I live in Texas, okay?

  • And I go to my son's football games and it's packed out there.

  • You go to basketball games in Texas, the gyms are packed, so, you know, I know the rules are there for a reason, and rightfully so.

  • But, you know, it is at some point, I think, you know, the N B.

  • A is gonna find a way to get back toe normalization and they're gonna have fans in the gym.

  • I think they just gotta make sure or do the best of their ability to make sure that the social distance and make sure the fans are required to wear their masks.

  • And I think they could pull it off again.

  • We have the best commissioner in sports and Adam Silver.

  • So I trust his judgment.

  • I trust with the n b a is going to do so.

  • I got the faith and the faith in the NBA and the Players Association to make the right call.

  • Well, look, producer Steve tells me the Texas is one of the three states that allows up to 500 people in the building a little different at a high school game than a big arena.

  • But we'll see.
