The legal woes of ousted Nissan chief Carlos Goan got deeper on Friday.

A civil trial began in Japan, where his former employer is seeking $95 million in damages.

Goan, who also ran French carmaker Renault, has Bean in Lebanon since January.

He dramatically fled Japan before he was due to stand trial.

The former exact denies any wrongdoing.

Prosecutors, who arrested going two years ago, have charged him with hiding $88.6 million in compensation, as well as enriching himself at Nissan's expense through payments of $5 million toe a Middle East car dealership.

In an emailed statement, Jones said the Nissan civil lawsuit is an extension to the extremely unreasonable internal investigation with sinister intent by a portion of NOUS and senior management.

Goan, who was represented in court by lawyers, has said he was removed from Nissan to thwart any merger with Renno.

Renno already owns 43% off the Japanese carmaker.

The civil proceedings got underway as the criminal trial of former Nissan executive Greg Kelly continued at a court in Tokyo.

He's accused of helping Goan hide his earnings.

Kelly, who has lived in Japan since his release on bail almost two years ago, also denies any wrongdoing.

Meanwhile, Nissan has been drawing back from the business expansion undertaken when Gun was at the helm.
