But these are issues that have been front and center for you for a long time. Just in the last three years alone, the Balmer Group has given away more than $300 million to more than 70 nonprofits. I did my homework here. 70 non profits working in communities of color. So how did that experience give you a running start when the MBA's board of governors turned so much of its attention to those issues this summer? Yeah, highlight, really those air, largely African American communities to be focused in on because that's where we've seen systemic racism. And the African American community has some of the toughest issues with upward economic mobility. What it has shown us, of course, is nothing simple. Addressing racism of the past, let alone systemic racism that goes on now has got to be a societal thing because it really you could be supportive. But without government action, business action, you can't really address the systemic things. There are some things that we've found amazing that you could support. Turns out that if an African American boy has an African American teacher someplace early in their school career, their life outcomes air predictably better. Statistically gonna be better. How do we get more African American men to get into teaching? What's the support? How do you do that? There's a lot of things, you know. I can't I have no lived experience. I'm a white male. But if you listen to people in the African American community and broadly, there are things we can all do. How did doing that work over the course of years and years prepare you? When we got to the Board of Governors meetings? And they said, Hey, we've got to be attentive about this. We have to be a leader here. What I think you did mostly was give me perspective. I mean, our group of governors is It's a largely white group. Uh, it gives a little perspective. I can't pretend to be any kind of an expert, but a little bit of perspective. I joined the Social Justice Coalition that the players and coaches and and team owners have started, and hopefully that can lead to things even more than the foundation. I think it will drive us into these systemic racism issues. Thanks for watching ESPN on YouTube for live streaming sports and premium content. Subscribe to ESPN plus.
