  • I actually think Washington is in a better situation.

  • Going for that sounds crazy, but let me explain.

  • I know.

  • So here's the deal in Philly, Okay?

  • Most likely the optimal situation is that they're going to trade.

  • Wentz.

  • Hopefully get some kind of draft compensation roll into next year with hurts.

  • I like Jalen hurts.

  • I think he's shown flashes of promise as a rookie.

  • He looks like a rookie a lot of the time, but what makes him not a rookie is you don't get the benefits of the rookie contract because once you part ways with went, you are spending over $30 million at the quarterback position.

  • So it's Jalen hurts or it.

  • You might bring in some like competition, but that's it.

  • Okay, you're spending a ton of money there.

  • Meanwhile, in Washington, Haskins has gone.

  • I don't think Alex Smith is the quarterback next year, but they ranked fifth in cap space in 2021 they've got draft picks.

  • That is a very good roster that, in my opinion, is a quarterback away from contending.

  • Heck, they're already contending, so it's a bit of a black box, but they've got the cast space and draft capital to invest in the quarterback position, and they could be better than Philly going forward.

  • They could be cap space and roster flexibility.

  • Ain't never thrown two touchdown in the league, you know, ask Jalen hurts like you're mean.

  • I appreciate that you've done all these gymnastics to give us something to actually debate, but you know in your heart that you're wrong.

  • Jalen Hurts is a promising young player.

  • Maybe he will not reach the heights of of a, say, a Russell Wilson or somebody like that.

  • That's fine, but having somebody there with some promise and someone that you can be excited about is a better situation.

  • And you're right.

  • They can't build around him the way you normally would a rookie quarterback because they've committed so much to Carson Wentz.

  • But if you asked right now, who's quarterback room?

  • Do you want Mawr?

  • I would rather take the one promising young quarterback.

  • Rather, we are talking about who's quarterback situation is worse.

  • Yes, the quarterback situation.

  • It works for the team, for the team that don't have a quarterback, a bad situation right now, A e love with being a said.

  • Their challenge there contending right now, contending in the NFC least I mean, like, six and seven win That has been knocked out if if Taylor, listen, if Taylor Hi.

  • Nicky is your one.

  • If Phillies definitely got a better room, I mean, come on way really debating that.

  • That part I love.

  • Listen, we're talking about the future.

  • What's that?

  • Next year?

  • No, Listen at a better spot.

  • Yeah, from the from the perspective of the of the Washington football team, the upside for them is gonna be Go get a vet, right?

  • Like there's gonna be a Q B carousel.

  • They're gonna go find somebody.

  • I do not believe it'll be Alex Smith.

  • Um, to his credit coming back, I think they will find a guy.

  • Ron Rivera will find somebody to come in.

  • I don't think it will be a draft pick where they're gonna wait and debate, you know, especially where they're drafted.

  • If they do make the playoffs, they're gonna be even later in the draft.

  • There's not gonna be anybody there.

  • That's gonna be a take charge right now.

  • Type player.

  • I would I would doubt so.

  • I think free agency will go there, but let's get back to the Eagles for one second.

  • Like I, I like hurts.

  • I like what he's done so far.

  • I'm not ready to write off Carson Wentz, either.

  • I mean, listen, we have talked about the problems between he and Doug Peterson.

  • For whatever reason, this kid has frozen up in his mind.

  • He can't kind of find his way out.

  • He's indecisive.

  • And the difference when you watch Jalen hurts play and you watch Carson Wentz play.

  • The difference is decision making, and that means hurts is or right now, guy, right?

  • If the if the play is not here, he's pulling that thing down and he's gonna go run.

  • That rock is gonna make a play, and when he sees the player coming open, he will begin to throw.

  • Guys.

  • I felt like Carson Wentz was always double pumping, right?

  • He's He's always that split second late in his read in his reaction.

  • For whatever reason, he and he and, um, Doug Peterson have not done a great job together.

  • He's been supplanted by two backups now, but if he gets another shot at it somewhere else, I do think he's a He's a potential good football player, a good quarterback in the NFL.

  • Frank right?

  • Potentially right?

  • Indianapolis.

  • There's all kinds of scenarios.

  • But if I'm sitting in my room with Hertz and went Senate right now, unless you really hit a home run like a staffer to somebody for for the Washington football team, it's still an iffy situation from the quarterback position.

  • And as good as their defense is, I would wanna go make sure I could solidify that Q B position ASAP.

  • Yeah, here's how I'm looking at it.

  • Look, if we're talking about Jalen Hurts versus hi Nicky and maybe Alex Smith, Obviously, Jalen Hurts is a better option.

  • But if we're having the harder conversation, which is $35 million on Jalen Hurts plus maybe Carson Wentz, depending on what you trade him versus a team with $40 million in cap space and elite defense, a good play caller and Scott Turner and potentially a trade for Matthew Stafford, I'm going with Washington.

  • That's a better football team.

  • Yeah, of course, but we don't know what Washington is gonna be able to do.

  • At least you know, in Philly you see the commode like you see, what is there in Washington.

  • You've gotta hope that you can make the the draft picks, the right draft picks.

  • You got to make the money work.

  • You got to trade for the right guy or signed the right veteran.

  • That's a lot of what ifs for a franchise that we haven't seen.

  • Make all the right picks and and nail the draft and make all the right free agency signings.

  • That's all I'm saying, and I will say This is well, when you when you look at the Washington football team mean a to your point, I think you make a great point about the potential there.

  • I look at New England very similarly right, like they're gonna be some landing spots for good.

  • You like to be a great quarterback.

  • Be a good quarterback.

  • You can come in and play good football.

  • You can win a bunch of games.

  • You're gonna New England, you'll be able to win a bunch of games.

  • You go toe Washington.

  • This team could potentially win a lot of games, right?

  • Put the right the right.

  • Q B In that situation with the defense, they have continued to add at a running back position O line maybe some outside help.

  • Same thing in New England.

  • So you're looking at two organizations with the right staff in place, and I think often times we, you know, we undervalue the staff and the development of players, Whether it's New England or Washington, you would feel very confident walking in what those organizations that you have the right staff that will help benefit you as a vet.

  • So I do think they will be.

  • They will have some suitors from Cubes playing that carousel that will want to go to those two teams.
