everybody.
I'm at Taco.
I'm a video producer here at Lonely Planet.
Hi, my name's Alicia.
I'm a digital editor here at Lonely Planet.
And so we have this Siri's that we call Ask LP when you get to ask us a question questions that people are thinking about right now and because it's a new year.
2021.
People are jonesing to go out.
People are asking Should I travel?
And Alicia has been thinking about this a lot.
You even read the article about it.
Alicia, what are your thoughts?
Yeah, New Year.
Everybody is excited to get out there, but unfortunately, covert is still raging.
And so even though you're seeing a lot of your friends or family possibly out having fun and taking pictures, I think now is still the time to just hold on a little bit longer.
So my article has four tips to help people.
Um, hold on Thio.
Resist the urge to hop on a plane.
My poor pieces.
Advice is one plan your vacation, your next vacation?
Um, it could be really it could be imagined.
For example, I am personally thinking about going toe Ireland plan the whole thing from the flights to the hotel's toe.
What you're packing, and it will just give you a chance to really get excited about a place, even if it's not time to go yet.
So playing your vacation, that sounds awesome, because I definitely want to go to like, I'm looking at Egypt to buy.
I did a video on Dubai, and I'm like, Oh my gosh, I need to go there now.
Yeah, so this is what you'll be seeing the next time you visit me a second one that I like to do is go on virtual walks with a friend from another country.
So I personally like to go on heights and take my friend with me and vice versa on.
And it's a perfect way to see another part of the country that you haven't before.
Another thing that I like to do is go in a virtual hike or walk with a friend from another country.
Odds are, if you travel, you have friends who live all over the country, and so this is a chance for you to go exploring with your friend.
I know a lot of us are doing zoom calls in the house.
But this is a chance to go outside and explore your region while bringing a friend along.
And then they can show you parts of their neighborhood or if they're going on a hike or going to the beach if they're lucky.
And this is a great way to connect and see something without actually going there, that's amazing.
Like so you did that recently?
Yes, I recently went on a hike, and I brought my friend along with me.
Hey, Carla, we are walking on Couch Ville Lake today.
Wow, that sounds fun.
You need to take me the next time.
Definitely this one is very common, but you explore the world one bite at a time.
Everyone recommends this, I know, but it really is the perfect way to kind of enjoy a country of region.
A city is by cooking a dish from them.
We at Lonely Planet have been doing a travel kitchen, Siri's since March, where we've been providing a ton of recipes from all over the globe that you can try and sample in your own home.
Honestly, you can probably close your eyes and point to a country in the map and see what their national dishes and give that a try.
But the presence of several vaccines throughout the world means that there is an in point to this pandemic.
There is, ah, horizon.
So it's just gonna take a little bit more patients and a lot of sacrifices before we're able to all go out and do what we love to do, which is travel and see the world.
Oh, okay.
