Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles who are the top five players in the N Bataille today. Active players who have never won an MBA championship. Here we go, Number five. I'm putting you on this five. Now he's young. He is not as historically successful as so many others have been. There's a lot, a lot of the players you'll see on the list. In fact, all the players you'll see on the list have generally played a decade, or Mawr, in some cases closer to two decades. Kind of hard to figure out where to put Yanis on this. But look, he's a two time M V P. I think he is an historical great already, and when you consider the way he is sort of viewed in the MBA today. I think he belongs on the list. I will put Yanis Antique Ocampo at number five on the current list of players in the N B A who have never won a championship again. It is not about who's the best player this minute, but about the five historical greats who are currently without an MBA. Ring number four at four. In putting. Russell Westbrook was a former teammate, of course, of both K D and James Harden. Russell Westbrook has made it to the first round of the playoffs four times to the semi's two times for the Western Conference finals three times. Made it to the N B A Finals once. Remember back a million years ago when O. K C made it into the N B A Finals with KD and Russ and Harden, and they lost the LeBron and the Heat in those finals. Russell Westbrook averaged 27 points, six assists and six boards. But look, he's a walking triple double. He's a league MVP. He is. I think I think he is an historical, great. I think Russell Westbrook deserves to be considered with great players. He's a unique player. He's not for everyone, and there been some moments out there that have been less than you would have hoped they would turn into. It's not over for him by any means. He's in his early thirties. He's got more time to come. But I have Russell Westbrook on my list of the top five players in the N B A. Without a championship number three. This was the really hard one for me to figure. Carmelo Anthony is number three. Carmelo Anthony has basically done less winning in the MBA than practically any all time great player. So much so that it is kind of hard to name him as an all time great player. When you look at his great accomplishments, really, you go to Syracuse and you go to the Olympics. But in the n b A. He's been to the conference finals. Once he had a monster season with the Knicks, that team got knocked out in the second round of a serious that they, I think, easily could have won. Maybe some would say Should have one. Carmelo just hasn't done enough winning. I actually really agonized over whether he belonged on the list at all. But when you look at the offensive numbers, he is so high on the list of all time great players offensively and we nowadays we use an expression of walking bucket. Well, no one has ever been a walking bucket anymore than Carmelo Anthony Waas and is he's still playing and he's still playing at a reasonable level. So Anthony to me, belongs on the list. I know there will be people who disagree with that I get it. I agonized with this because there will be names you will not hear on this list who I could understand the argument for. But on today's green list, Carmelo Anthony is number three. Number two. Number two is Harden. James Harden is number two on this list as he makes his way now to Brooklyn in the playoffs of the career. He's 66 62. He made that one, eh? NBA Finals. He averaged 12 points a game in the finals, but he had three games where he scored nine points or less. He really struggled, You might recall he was the instant offense off the bench on those. Okay, see teams early in his career, long before we had any idea he was going to turn into the player that he has become. But he's a league MVP. He, with the marriage of James Harden and Mike D'Antoni, is one of the great sports marriages of coach and superstar. Ever because D'Antoni's philosophy and the way he wanted to do things, no player could possibly have benefited from that Mawr, including Steve Nash, then James Harden, who put up numbers the likes of which we haven't seen since Jordan and Chamberlain and all the rest of that. So despite his own personal shortcomings in the playoffs, he belonged high on this list. He is number two on my list of the great current players never to win a championship. Do you know who number one is that? Obviously, number one is. Brandon is nodding his head. Who's it gonna Bay number one? Chris Paul is correct. CP three is number one on the list of the historically great current N BA players without a championship. When it is all said and done, Chris Paul is going to go down on the very short list of the greatest point guards. Whoever play Chris Paul's numbers would have him right there, right there with people like Isaiah Thomas, the all time great point guards John Stockton. It is the lack of playoff success that has really hampered him. And not only does he not have a championship, but he has really struggled in the playoffs. And you think about that one year in Houston when he and James Harden they had Golden State on the ropes and he got hurt. CP three got hurt and they didn't make it out of that round. They might have won the championship that year. Chris Paul is number one on my list. Today's green list of the greatest current N BA players not to win a championship. Yeah, honest at five. Russell Westbrook it four. Carmelo Anthony and three James Harden a two and Chris Paul at number one. Thank you for watching ESPN on YouTube for live streaming sports and premium content.
