  • Mira: Hi, everyone!

  • Want to see a large flying fox? Then come on!

  • Let's look closer with me, Mira.

  • The large flying fox is not really a fox at all.

  • It's one of the world's biggest bats.

  • They live in the wild

  • in southern parts of Asia like Vietnam.

  • See that long nose?

  • They almost look like--

  • That's right! A fox.

  • Like most bats, large flying foxes

  • typically sleep all day long and fly around at night.

  • That's called being nocturnal.

  • Can you say "nocturnal"?

  • Very nice.

  • Large flying foxes only eat fruit,

  • so they're part of a group called fruit bats.

  • Let's see what we find when we look closer.

  • Check out their feet.

  • They use their claws to grab

  • and crawl across branches as they look for food.

  • Amazing, right?

  • Large flying foxes are so big,

  • and their tiny little legs can't hold them standing up.

  • So they sleep by hanging upside down.

  • And to keep warm, they wrap themselves up

  • in their huge wings like a big cozy blanket.

  • Large flying foxes love to hang out with other bats.

  • A group of them is called a camp,

  • and some camps can have up to 250,000 bats.

  • Imagine what that must look like.

  • That is a lot of bats.

  • Flying foxes are really good for the forest they live in.

  • After they eat fruit,

  • the large flying fox spreads seeds,

  • and that helps more plants grow.

  • Well, that covers the large flying fox.

  • Keep your eyes and ears open

  • to the world of animals all around you.

  • I'll see you next time,

  • when we look closer at more Disney animals.
