Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles My name is Jessica and my Korean name is Mi Kyeong So. Yes, I'm from Korea. I'm in the ELS (English Language Studies) program. I just came here 9 months ago. I just stay one year. I welcome my friends to come here because here in Conestoga College we have not too much Korean people here. In Korea we have no chance to speak in English so we just learn about grammar, how to read, how to write so we don't have any chance to speak in English. So here in Conestoga College not too much Korean people here so we have to speak in English. We have to, yeah, here is more chance to speak in English. More chance than living in Toronto, I think. One of my friends who is living in Toronto she says, I don't have to speak in English here. Here it is just like Korea because there is a lot of Koreans there. So I think here is very good to learn English. So I want to recommend they come here. My instructor. My teacher. Oh here teachers are so nice, very friendly, more- friendly than in my country. Like a friend not teacher. We have no gap here. We are just like friends. We go hang out somewhere. Lunch, sometimes we go to play squash at the Recreation Centre. It's just like friends so I have very good memories about my teachers. I want to be a teacher that teaches physical education. Actually, in my country my major is physical education. Actually I want to teach phys ed to early child. I changed my mind when I came here. I learned English so I want to teach physical education to early child in English. Like speak in English when I teach them. The best experience is Diversity week. Every semester we have Diversity/Culture Festival. At the time I wore my Korean traditional dress and we have a fashion show. It was so awesome. Another student introduced their country. So I can learn about another country. Yes, so they explained this week -- Diversity/Culture Festival week -- it is so nice an experience for me. I have a lot of different experiences here. So I've changed my mind, and changed my thinking, changed my study style. Yes everything has changed. And I want to live here. When I was in Korea, I loved Korea and didn't want to go somewhere but now I want to live here. I want to more learn here and my thinking is more-free, more enjoyable. Because in Korea, you always work hard, study hard, a lot of competition. So stress. But here enjoy and study. Yeah I changed my thinking a lot here. What you do here...counts out there.
