well hello hello everyone hey guys happy early valentine's day
indeed indeed so today to celebrate we thought we would bring you along on a little date a socially
distant state out in nature and i thought it would be really fun to do a couple tag
like answer questions about us yeah as a couple questions is the answers a little hike maybe yes
there's actually some nature that we can visit as well we can there's some canada geese that
have been hanging out at a lake we can visit some geese we're gonna grab some
valentine's day themed snacks and yeah we're gonna take you on a little outing and also we wanted to
let you know that today's video is sponsored by soundcore by anchor so we're gonna be showing
you their new headphones life q30 later on in this video now let's go drive i'm hungry
so we made it to tim hortons so one of my favorite drinks from here is the french vanilla so good
very sugary that's why it tastes so good so cheers to that they don't quite have the valentine's
menu available at the moment i guess it'll be coming in maybe a week's time also i should
mention tim hortons is a really popular stop for truck drivers yeah hence that guy over there
yeah you're wondering about what the noise is all about we also treated ourselves to some donuts
sam got the sea salt caramel but she has kind yes you have permission to try it here we go
how's that that caramel on top tastes like gluten oh wow you're gonna be a fan of that wow
and we've got this other sugary delight with some festive colors yeah it looks more christmassy than
valentine's day but it is the most festive one we can celebrate christmas in february if you want
no problem how's that another good one which one do you like more sugary okay so we're back in the
car and we're going to start with the questions the truck engine was just a little too loud so
question number one an easy one we're going with the easiest one of all
how and where did we meet audrey okay well i feel like if you've been watching this channel you
probably already know the story but sam and i met back in 2012 when we were both teaching english in
korea that's right however many moons ago however before we met in person we already knew each other
online because we both had travel blogs so we were kind of like a part of that whole travel blogging
community yeah so it wasn't exactly online dating but we literally would not have met each other
hadn't been for our travel blogs yes because we weren't teaching in the same cities no we were in
the same province we were in the same province but very different areas in fact there wasn't
even good transportation between the it was easier to meet in seoul which was further away
so yeah we met um through our blogs we connected i think on facebook yeah i think sam added me on
facebook maybe six months before i actually met him in person in korea so we were like
online friends and i remember where we met it was in itaewon in seoul the kind of it's a very
popular area for foreigners and for koreans who are interested in speaking english there's also
an american army base i believe nearby and so we specifically met up and i was supposed to play
tour guide for the day and take you to an indian buffet a used bookstore and there was some other
thing we were supposed to do and every it was a complete failure the indian buffet had shut
down the used bookstore had moved and the other thing i was going to show you had also moved so
i hadn't been in seoul for uh a few years so i was uh that's how quickly things change in that
city yes yeah but you made a good impression so i saw you again yeah that's true long story short
and then we would basically meet up on the every weekend from that point onward until our until our
teaching contract was over and then we went on our first backpacking trip so that is the story
made it to the park all bundled up we're gonna hike for a little bit canada mittens and it is
time for another question what do you have for me it sure is how long have we been together
time to a math skill testing question for audrey let's do some math so we met in 2012
it's 20 21 that would mean this winter it's going to be nine years in march it'll be nine years next
month it'll be nine years that we've known each other where where where on earth does the time
go i don't know at the same time it's it's hard to imagine a time before we met each other like yeah
it feels like we've been together forever and married for seven years this summer yeah seven
years of summer that's crazy i just i can't wrap my head around that i you know how they say the
older you get the faster time flies we're aging it's it's so true it's so true and i think it
continues that way i don't know i think that the years go even faster from what i've heard
okay guys so as part of our little valentine's day outing i thought it would be really
fun to bring sam to the woods and have an impromptu dance party a forest dance party
um using these new headphones that soundcore has kindly sent over so i'm going to tell you
a little bit about them because they are today's video sponsor so basically soundcore just released
their new life q30 headphones and for valentine's day they came out with a pink and a blue style and
yeah we're going to be testing these out shortly i'm super pumped for them the cool thing about
them is that you can get up to 40 hours of listening time in the noise cancellation mode
60 hours in standard mode and if you just plug it in for a quick five minute charge you can get
up to four hours so that's quite a bit of time they also have multiple noise cancellation modes
including transport indoor and outdoor mode so that you can maximize the active noise canceling
effect depending on where you're listening and lastly these life q30 headphones also have 40
millimeter drivers that reproduce treble up to 40 kilohertz so that's techie terms to say that you
get full bodied sound with excellent clarity while i've got you here and we're talking about music
yeah favorite band do we know each other's favorite bands well that's a good question
i have to say music was like my biggest life priority from about 17 or 18 to
22 no no sorry more like 15 to 22. okay and then i haven't been paying as much attention ever since
so you know my favorite band that's the question i think i might i think i might i'm gonna guess
florence and the machines yes and the machine only oh the machine there's not multiple machines
there's not multiple machines oh my well i was very wrong then i'm really impressed actually that
you were able to guess that one and for yours i feel like you have a lot of favorite bands
it's sort of true but but from different eras i think one of your top favorites may be queens of
the stone age yeah they're up there yeah i also like built to spill a lot yeah from back in the
day i mean i obviously grew up watching like i'm a i'm a product of the grunge era so pearl
jam nirvana alice in chains but in recent times yeah i probably built this spell is my favorite
but you're close you're very close with queens of the stone age and i get why you think that because
i i remember there were a couple albums that came on that's all i was listening to for a while
so yeah they're right up there that's right that's that's that's one of them awesome awesome well i
thought it would be fun if we have a dance party in the woods as part of our socially distanced
date since nothing's open and we love nature love nature here's yours you got headphones so
these are mine i got the pink ones and yours are a dark blue so we're gonna get these on oh wow they
rotate really nicely they do have a big touch and noise cancelling i can barely hear you now
ready for that dance party time to dance
dance
to
all right guys so i hope you enjoyed our little dance party our dance moves or lack thereof um
that was kind of fun i highly recommend it if you guys are under quarantine or lockdown measures
wherever you are go to the forest your local park whatever get out in nature have a dance party
it's a good time and thank you again to soundcore for sponsoring today's video and sending us these
lovely headphones just in time for valentine's day we've really been enjoying them one of my favorite
things about them is actually the weight how light they are they're just 9 ounces or 260 grams
and they also have these nice padded memory foam ear cups so they are super comfy so yeah
let's continue with the q a all right this is a question that i don't even know the answer to but
it's what could we spend hours doing like each of us what are our interests you guess mine i guess
i yours like that's tricky because i don't even know for you i would say
i think you could spend hours either reading or binge watching a netflix show you really liked
do i answer this for me too um i'll answer for you and you tell me if i got it right okay i feel like
you could spend hours researching investments and stocks or like listening to podcasts on personal
development fitness that's true that's that's this is serious side what about the more fun
for fun i feel like you could spend hours watching hockey or like listening to old banters in the 90s
yeah or binge watching netflix oh what was the latest series we binge watched with my parents
with your appearance yellowstone oh that was pretty good wild wild west but modern times
yeah and then we also binge watched the the crown with my mom yes we had already seen it but it had
been a number of years for some of the seasons so yeah it was good we did seasons one through four
yeah how about you guys what do you guys binge watch all right i'm gonna ask you a question that
i know you can't answer because it's impossible being a foodie but what is your favorite food
in terms of what are you craving today right now wait i need to answer for you
okay how well do we know each other for you i would say your absolute favorite food is
pizza probably either naples style pizza the classic margherita or chicago style pizza if
you're in the mood for deep dish if i want to have thousands of calories in one yeah what's my
favorite food can you narrow it your favorite food i would say is sushi turn it around i would say
sushi he would say it's sushi yeah i would say a good argentine asado would be up in the top three
okay yeah i don't know i don't know about that and then i also really think you like
um you really like thai and vietnamese food like if you could have a pad thai or a flower
you would be totally up for that yeah and also i love ceviche and ceviche obsessed with that so
not just not just one or two items and for me um i like i basically like everything but i
especially love asian food considering i spent a lot of time in korea and backpacking around asia
i think that's the thing i miss the most because we don't tend to have that as often at home
and so right now if you took me if we had asian food for lunch that would be really cool okay
any anywhere thai vietnamese okay korean japanese indian you name it i'll eat it
okay so we're at a plaza and we stopped at a vietnamese restaurant it's called fa123
and we've ordered food to go it's going to be about 15 minutes are you feeling hungry oh gosh
yeah yes when am i not hungry not so we thought we would do a few more questions while we wait
and this next one is weird habits of each other i can definitely think of some weird habits i feel
like we need to get you in the frame for this so you can be around to to witness gosh to hear your
award what what isn't weird about us right well do you know what your weird habit is that i'm gonna
tell everyone go ahead go ahead towels bath towels that never get hung up anywhere like wet towels
that end up on the furniture on the bed on the floor oh the plan is to hang them on the chairs
it just doesn't always happen yeah that's and in all fairness i thought what happens like once
every two weeks maybe no it happens a lot i'm always collecting wet towels the worst is when
he throws it on the bed on the duvet you know what your bad habit is like you you just pile things on
top of each other like there's just stacks of your clothes randomly in like the middle of the floor
like what's going on not on the floor it has been and you know what we're both really weird about
it's like we have an uncanny ability to make a hotel or an airbnb or something else messy
and no time flat yeah and sometimes i'm literally amazed i wake up and i'm like
how did we do this if we were hired to make this place messy we couldn't have done a better job but
the weird thing is that like i like an organized place so the first thing i do in the morning is
make the bed and like tidy up the bedroom but it's just it doesn't stay like that for very long you
know what i'm actually that's actually i think an old habit i think we've broken our messy ways yeah
we're going to be coming yeah we've become a lot more tidy i'm even thinking of our place right now
we've become so much tidier yeah it's very cool guys there is hope for self-improvement
if you're as messy as we are in the past okay how about we choose another question and just keep it
going because we've got 15 minutes here yep any that interests you two screens full of questions
to choose from ah here's the more deep and sentimental one okay what key elements make your
relationship and marriage successful i think you know what i've learned respect and patience are
very important respecting people's uh respecting your partner's space respecting their difference
of opinion and also just having patience with each other because when you live together especially
like us where we work we live we travel we're basically almost 24 7 together we are we really
like we have master classes in how to push each other's buttons yes right would you agree
so so the key really is to not do that it's to have patience with each other and to also you know
there's there's things that would annoy you or me about one another that we wouldn't find annoying
with somebody else but just because we're around each other every day like you know you have that
that little bit of lack of patience i think having patience is very important what do you think
what was the question again i know what i'm going to say to make it to have a successful marriage
special marriage right yeah that's important so i know everyone says this i feel like it's
almost cliche but communication communication so like if sam and i are having like a little issue
or like a little problem something is bugging us we will address it and like we'll sit down and
talk about it we won't let it build up yeah until it turns into this big explosion yeah as a volcano
right yeah yeah so trying to tackle things while they're like little ant hills right they come
but exactly i totally agree with you but on the one on the other hand you don't want to nitpick
either so it's not like it's like walking on a tightrope yeah you want to address things that are
becoming issues but you don't want to get to the point where ever you have a discussion
about everything no no that would be unknown it takes away all this i don't have time for that
neither do i anyways we're definitely not experts in this area but you know we've i think we've
become more patient with each other over the years we definitely we fight less to be honest then yes
we do which is kind of remarkable because i think it's the opposite for a lot of couples we're a
work in progress we're work in progress though for sure so what did we get hello we got a whole bunch
of things first some chicken spring rolls yum yum yum yum yum yum yum those look good amazing smells
marvelous fried i might add not the fresh ones yeah we wanted to eat at the park but we're not
seeing a single picnic bench so i think we're just going to eat in the car and it's warmer it's cold
this is what you ordered oh wow you got some thin noodles with beef and different veggies look at
all the veg in a sweet glaze yum that looks good sure does and and for me what we're gonna share
oh now he wants to share guys of course we were talking about how i love thai food yeah
well there it is there's the pad thai the pad thai shrimp is shrimp peanuts bean sprouts it looks
smells so good you're definitely sharing that oh all right what it's good he wants to share my gosh
okay thank you so let's dive in with the pad thai also peanuts i was so disappointed when
they reached over and picked up a fork instead of chopsticks to throw into our bag and as i
mentioned you could have i could have been like no no i can use chopsticks but i felt bad so
i took the little fork chopsticks would have been better
how was that i can't remember the last time i had pie time i'm so excited for this
delicious it is so here is my beef noodle dish you can see it's the the thin
the thin yellow noodles yeah look at that i think they're egg noodles
and there's some big chunks of beef in there i'm very excited for this my fork feels like
it's going to break i know it's a little flimsy for oh my gosh it needs some torque
so so tasty this is exactly exactly what i want to be having for lunch totally what i was craving
it's funny that that question prompted us to to decide this because originally we were thinking
let's get something that's easy that's not messy maybe like a burrito or a wrap but this is exactly
what i want to be eating wow and we've got the chicken spring rolls to try too ooh yes let's
do that let me do that chicken spring rolls you grab one too uh i'll i'll hold the camera for
now here they are you dip it in that lovely sauce can you see the sauce guys there it is
and tell us how marvelous it is
oh golden perfection cooked to golden perfection yeah it's not often that you see chicken spring
rolls on a menu i thought it sounded interesting it's really really good it smells good i wish i
wish we ordered more probably have like 10 of these good wow very very tasty great lunch and
this park is special for another reason isn't it yes we're gonna show you a little surprise
after we finish our lunch so just give us a few moments to eat and we'll see you soon
well well what do we have here well we thought we would bring you to the place where we got married
this is where we had our wedding ceremony jacuzzi park wedding chapel oh come on over
it's closed because of covid but we can have a little peek inside yeah wow all these years ago
it was in there yeah we just rented that space for what an hour or half an hour yeah it was
one hour a hundred dollars we could have up to 30 guests or over on the other side 10 guests we had
the most budget wedding of all time it was great it was fantastic we came here we had just a small
gathering and we took everyone back to the house for a barbecue for an asado and argentina sato
and there was what homemade cake empanadas people have been preparing food for the whole week yes
and we kept it small we kept it simple and we sent everyone who came to our wedding home with food
so we're at the local park we've shown you where we got married and now we just sat down on the
bench to continue with the couple's tag q a so next question we have to answer is each other's
favorite sports team yeah i know yours yeah for sure what you have two yeah so for hockey it's
the chicago blackhawks yeah and for baseball it's the chicago cubs that's right and those
are really the two sports that you follow i was uh i was brainwashed at an early age by my father
and it's a family tradition to like those two teams and yeah i put up with physical and mental
abuse growing up on vancouver island oh my god not being a canucks fan but um you know i endured
and even when i lived in edmonton um i did go to a lot of oilers games i still like the blackhawks
the most i wasn't sure because i was becoming an oilers fan but then the two teams played each
other and i found myself still cheering for the blackhawks any links to chicago with your family
not at all but back back when when people were following there was only 16 hockey teams okay
yeah so there was less to choose from um but i do like edmonton is my favorite team in canada
yeah but they are my second favorite team and for you your favorite team is the argentine national
football team yeah oh wow you know that's the only thing i watch like if it's the world cup
or yeah yeah so i mean we we really i mean that's the only time i watch football or soccer either
most of the time anyways i mean i feel that if we if we spend more time in south america
in the future i'll get more into some choose a team we'll eventually choose the team so
oh she says it is getting cold my goodness no it's not it's not cold this mine is 20 yesterday or two
days i know today's today is beautiful my opinion but anyways i know it doesn't look like much
right now in wintertime everything is bare but this is where we had our wedding photos
taken yeah like sam and i took some shots against this willow tree and then we took lots of family
portraits right on that little path lined with trees i'm going to point up so i can show you
the willow tree there you go it's beautiful in summer okay it's beautiful in winter too
yeah it wouldn't be like a nice spot to do wedding photos in winter when everything's
dry and gray it is really nice and summer um and the next question i just put my phone away
but it is how did we know when did we meet each other's parents and i think that's a very
interesting story i don't know if we've shared it already on the channel we may have let's talk
about that but let's talk about so we met each other's parents without one another without the
other person around yes yeah that's a bit unusual yeah i would say it could be slightly awkward for
sure yeah but it ended up being just fine you met mine first and maybe explain the situation so this
situation was that i finished my teaching contract in korea before you yeah i had three months before
yours so i went home to visit my parents and then i was flying back to see you via toronto
and because brampton is actually even where your parents live in brampton it's closer than downtown
toronto to the airport yeah they offered to have me stay the night so i had dinner with them
yes survived the it was actually great we had a really good time um that's how i met them how
did you meet mine you slept no wait tell me more of the story okay so my parents picked
you up you spent the night at her house yes you had dinner with them you slept in my old bedroom
i did and then one of my sisters drove you to the airport the next morning so that was sam's layover
in toronto meeting my parents for the first time yeah and how about and how about you okay
i forget this oh no no i remember the circumstances yes so i had flown back to toronto
to visit my parents for the summer because at that point i had been teaching in korea for a year
too yeah and okay we had been traveling around southeast asia i had been gone for like a year
and a half maybe longer so i felt like i wanted to come back and spend time and while i was
in toronto i think your parents were visiting your grandma in london ontario so they had to
drive through toronto and since i was there i was like hey do you guys want to have lunch or dinner
together and i gave them the option like we can go to a restaurant downtown or you can just come to
my parents house and we all meet each other and all eat together so that's what we did we had
a big lunch my mom made empanadas it was like a big cookout and yeah your parents drove up
and they were so sweet and it was nice to meet them and you weren't there you were in thailand
you stayed in thailand that's right you're only gone for a couple weeks yeah you went to
see your parents i remember you also had to renew documents i think it passed yeah yeah everything
was expiring like licensed health card passports so i had to go home that's how we met each other's
parents i'd be curious to know in the comments has anyone else met you know your partner's
parents without your partner present probably not but let us know if you have that's really funny
audrey those are not geo moments here oh my gosh in brampton this is crazy
i've never seen so many geese and ducks
and my dad was saying apparently he saw a swan a few days ago wow it's crazy the noise the honking
it feels like almost like a penguin colony but of course some geese instead
they didn't make it to florida this year no they're like moving can't cross the border cozy
it's cozy here in canada it wasn't it hasn't been a little warmer than usual it's been a milder one
we're still waiting for more snow it's remarkable i mean it's already february and if they haven't
left yet i mean they've only got a couple more months may as we stay till spring yeah exactly
home sweet home we are back that was quite the outing guys i hope you enjoyed coming along on
our little valentine's day date that was so much fun we haven't filmed a video in a very long time
yes like the argentina stuff that we've been showing obviously was filmed a long time ago
and uh i felt rusty for a little bit and then we got back into the groove and then i was like
oh this is this is why we enjoy doing this it was so much fun yeah and i mean we are
hoping to film a few more videos around here in ontario and maybe even canada when things open up
but in the meantime we're going to keep sharing south america with you yeah and we'll try to throw
in some cooking videos from here as well and um yeah we'll just make some stuff about our life
in canada too so um so yeah this was the first of that and it was like dusting off the cobwebs
all right thanks for joining us and we'll see you guys soon bye guys
you
