  • Hey guys! Good morning! I'm hanging out with Taylor again

  • and we have a busy day today

  • First we are gonna go... I hope the first thing we are doing is the lunch!

  • Because I'm starving!

  • Oh my god I'm so hungry right now

  • I only ate those little oranges, that's it

  • We were editing our vlogs this morning so we didn't have time to get ready

  • So we rushed to get here, it's like 3pm now

  • So yeah we're going to have some Japanese kaiseki lunch

  • It's kind of a fancy Japanese lunch, so I'm excited for that. Never done that before!

  • And then we are going to do some sword fighting!

  • They're gonna teach us how to sword fight

  • and we're actually gonna cut some stuff, with real swords

  • It's gonna be quite a long vlog I think

  • So grab a cup of tea and some cookies, and I hope you guys enjoy this!

  • Yay! We found the person that we were here to meet!

  • We met her and we're gonna head to sword fighting

  • It looks like sword fighting is first

  • We're gonna get some food from the convenience store

  • Because I'm so hungry and I think if I try to do any form of exercise right now

  • I would just fall over and die

  • Onigiri~ onigiri~ onigiri~

  • Whoa they've got some weird onigiri

  • I really like the tuna one~ where is it?

  • Here we go

  • If you're ever looking for tuna onigiri

  • Oh this one has English on it, but they call it "sea chicken"

  • But it's not chicken, it's tuna

  • Oh those ones look good too

  • Have you ever seen this?

  • Yeah weird eh? It's like a lasagna onigiri

  • Okay, sushi and onigiri

  • I got some tea so I guess I don't need a drink

  • Ooo the strawberry milk tea is back!

  • They bring it back every winter, it's really really yummy

  • So we just got changed, this is what we're wearing

  • We're inside the dojo right now

  • It looks like there's lots of other people practicing here

  • It should be interesting to watch them

  • Check out this place!

  • There's samurai armor

  • This place is awesome!

  • This is so much cooler than my dojo in Canada

  • Look, they gave us a present!

  • It's some kind of calligraphy towel, so I'll take a look at that later

  • Rolling up these bamboo mats and we're going to cut them!

  • with the swords later! Hopefully! If we do it properly

  • Holding it like this is no good

  • It's better to hold it like a golf club

  • There should be about 1 or 2 fingers of

  • space between your hands

  • We're actually gonna cut this in a minute

  • First we need to imagine how we're going to cut it

  • First bring the sword to the point you will cut

  • Then breathe in and breathe out

  • In through your nose and out through your mouth

  • Looks good!

  • But the angle is wrong

  • The angle is a little wrong

  • But you cut it so YAY

  • The angle isn't the same as your kimono right?

  • You want it to match your kimono, so about there

  • That was very cool

  • Beautiful

  • They wear this when they're going to fight

  • They fight wearing this?

  • They wear this during preparations before battle

  • It's really detailed with gold and super pretty

  • It's the real version of what we wore when we did the samurai photoshoot

  • You did great cutting with the sword

  • So I'd like to present you with this certificate

  • You completed the Ryuohryu seminar

  • November 21, 2015 - Congratulations!

  • We are all finished the sword practice!

  • That was lots of fun!

  • I did kungfu in Canada for like 4 years

  • I haven't done martial arts in a while so it was really cool to get back into it

  • I'm really really happy that I actually cut the tatami

  • Because that would have been really sad if I couldn't have cut it for my video

  • I was able to do it! It was pretty difficult

  • The sword was really heavy and my arms started to get really tired

  • I was really scared I was gonna drop the sword so I held on really tight

  • But YAY I did it!

  • Now we're in the station buying tickets

  • We're gonna take the train to a close by station and go have some dinner!

  • Some fancy dinner~

  • You guys often ask me if there's English in the stations

  • For the most part (if not always) there's English directions

  • and the names of the stations

  • We just arrive at the restaurant and this is what the table setting looks like

  • It's super fancy and the chefs are right behind the counter here

  • So we get to watch them make everything

  • Just a little just a little

  • Cheers!

  • This is such a little restaurant

  • There are 4 seats at the counter here

  • And there's one more room in the back with two tables

  • That's it, it's really small and private, it's nice

  • We serve kaiseki cuisine, which is a Japanese traditional food

  • It was born out of the tea ceremony in the 16th century

  • As you can see, they speak English here! The chef also speaks English

  • And they give you an explanation here of everything that you're going to eat

  • So that's also very cool

  • At this restaurant you can choose to get the vegetarian course, which we did

  • So they won't use any fish or meat

  • All the soup stocks will be made with probably konbu, instead of the fish soup stock

  • So yay! That's good to know for lots of you guys who are vegetarian

  • Yum this looks good

  • So this is steamed mushrooms with carrots and other vegetables

  • and there's a little bit of wasabi

  • Itadakimasu!

  • It's really light and fluffy

  • That was a lot of wasabi!

  • So here's a list of all the things we're going to eat today

  • The one we just had now was steamed mushroom with grated turnip and other vegetables

  • Next is sushi! Yay!

  • Sashimi

  • Some more mushrooms it looks like

  • Wild rice with yuzu miso, that sounds good!

  • Some kind of sorbet

  • Fried potatoes... Ooo fried tofu! Yes!

  • Looking forward to that one!

  • Sushi of myoga

  • Sweet potato dumpling

  • Gingko nuts

  • Wow it's so pretty

  • Ground cherry

  • Egg yolk pickled in miso

  • Wow it really looks like sashimi!

  • That's so cool!

  • So traditionally the third dish would be sashimi

  • But because this is the vegetarian version, they made some vegetable sashimi for us

  • It really looks like fish actually

  • This is really similar to fish

  • That tasted so much like sashimi

  • Not so much the flavour, but just the texture

  • And it was chilled... so it really really felt like we were eating fish!

  • If you're vegan or vegetarian and you wanna try something Japanese style

  • and you wanna try sashimi, I really recommend trying that!

  • I'm not sure if there's any other restaurants you can get something like that

  • It seems like something super fancy that maybe only a place like this would have

  • But it was so cool and yummy!!

  • And all made of vegetables!

  • This is dobinmushi, simmered food in a teapot

  • Mushrooms, gingko nuts and honewort

  • I wonder what that is... I don't know

  • Mmm it smells so nice

  • Next, please drink the soup

  • Pour the soup into here

  • Baked stem of wild rice (makomo) with yuzu miso paste

  • Aww that's cute

  • The stem? And then the rice is like up here somewhere?

  • Wow, I've never eaten that before!

  • But it's a different kind of rice

  • Ahh a special kind

  • It's really nice! I've never had that before

  • Mmm it's really sweet!

  • It's kind of similar to corn

  • So next is a citrus sorbet

  • Sour! It's really sour!

  • The purpose of this... one sec I can't talk

  • So the purpose of that one was to clear your palate

  • So the tastes from the food that we were eating before that don't interfere with the next ones

  • It worked! It tastes very citrusy, and clean

  • The producers of the ingredients

  • He met them and took photos

  • That's so nice

  • This is tempura! It has crispy rice on the outside

  • and tempura mushroom as well

  • Yessss I love fried tofu!

  • This is fried tofu of corn

  • I don't know what that means, maybe the outside is corn flour possibly?

  • And then it's got a thick starchy sauce made from arrowroot

  • So the tofu itself has corn mixed inside of it it looks like, it's yellow

  • If you've ever had the Japanese corn soup, it tastes just like that

  • Really sweet and yummy! This is really good!

  • Makomo (rice stem) and mushrooms

  • This is my favourite part of the meal

  • The miso soup and rice

  • It looks so good

  • Mmmm yum!!

  • This is vegetarian miso soup so it's not made with fish broth

  • Wow this looks yummy!

  • Can you see it? It's like matcha

  • Yes~ my favourite part of the meal

  • Pumpkin dumpling

  • Oooh pumpkin~

  • Anko (red bean paste) inside

  • Yum~ these are my favourite kind of sweets

  • Hey do you guys remember what this utensil is called?

  • I talked about it in my wagashi video

  • Bonus points if you remember!!

  • Avoid the front. Sometimes the front has a beautiful design

  • So please avoid it to keep this place clean

  • So like this, turn it twice and then you can drink it

  • When you drink the last drop, please drink it with a slurping sound

  • It means "I drink it deliciously - even the last drop"

  • Yay matcha! I haven't had matcha in a long time so I'm excited for this

  • Elevator of doom~ literally can only fit two people in here

  • And it goes so slowly! I'm surprised we made it to the first floor alive

  • Alright guys, we are finished and super full!

  • The food was really really delicious!

  • And all super healthy!

  • So I don't feel bad about eating so much

  • Because it was mostly vegetables

  • The dessert at the end was so good!

  • So we're gonna catch a taxi home now

  • Time to go home and edit this vlog I guess

  • See you guys later!

  • Hey guys, I'm back home now

  • I'm just gonna edit the vlog from today right now

  • and get it ready, and then I'll put subtitles on it

  • So it'll probably take me a while to get it up

  • These are all other videos that I'm working on right now that haven't been completed yet

  • This pokemon centre tour video will probably be up before this vlog

  • So I'm gonna do that and then go to sleep

  • Hope you enjoyed this vlog, please give me a thumbs up if you did!

  • and I will see you soon! Bye!

  • Thanks for watching! Subscribe for new videos once or twice a week!

Hey guys! Good morning! I'm hanging out with Taylor again
