Lou Pedantic led the Mavs with 27 points as they beat the Nets on Saturday.

After the game, I asked Luca about a notable comparison that we're starting to hear between himself and three time MVP Larry Bird.

Take a listen to what Lucas said.

You know Luca, one of Larry Byrd's old teammates, Cedric Maxwell has been calling you Larry Bird reincarnated.

And your coach, who also was a teammate of Larry Bird, told us this morning that he does see the resemblance.

Have you looked at old film of Larry Bird?

Do you see the similarities yourself?

I mean, yeah, I looked at it.

I look, uh, I saw a lot of feelings how you play, but you know, you can't compare me to everybody.

All right, guys, I want to make clear in that question.

This was not like us at ESPN making this comparison.

This was first Cedric Maxwell and then Rick Carlisle agreeing that he sees some of it.

Do you think Luca's right, that you can't compare him to Larry Bird or that you can't compare him to Larry Bird?

But I think you can okay, and not from a championship overall career perspective.

Larry is one of the greatest players we've ever seen, but, like Cedric, Maxwell said that he's a He's a two K version of what Larry Bird would be with all the footwork and the ball handling his size, his ability to get a bucket at any time.

I think it's, you know, high honors when former teammates of one of the greatest players we've ever seen can compare a current player to him and it is factual.

We do it, it's a little different.

We never play with Larry, Don't know Larry, but when guys that played with him and went to war with them, I can give you that kind of compliment.

I didn't just think Luke was being modest.

I think Lucas being modest and rightfully so.

He should be modest only from a place of like Larry Bird.

We know that, said Larry Bird, you know, had the three point line, all the things like if the game would have been a different who knows what Larry would have been able to do because he was one of the greatest shooters that we've ever seen.

Like staff Clay him Reggie Ray like he's in that category.

Lucas.

Not quite in that category.

As far as being a big player that moves at a different pace but controls the game.

There are so many similarities to the game, but to compare him, you start to look at legacy versus like who he is right now.

Now Lucas got a long way to go before he could be in a conversation with Larry Bird.

But are their skills similarities?

Yes, but I think Lucas doing the right thing by not like well, I see that he's my favorite player.

That's who I want to be like.

And my goal is to be better than Larry Bird one day and it's just like and then and then people start killing them for that.

So I think Luca definitely played it right.

But as as in our position, I think we can say it.

I think Lucas did the right thing because like I said, if Richard, if he said what Richard just said or you think your layer your this, you know how social media in this world is.

But Luca definitely has a lot of similarities and it's gonna be exciting to see him stay healthy and do what he does well.

There's fans who obviously think that Luca is going to have a Larry Bird like career, because I think so, too.
