hey all jennifer from tarle speech with your pronunciation question today's
question is how do i pronounce the word niece
which is the daughter of your sibling and
knees the joint in your legs all right here are our words
so to say the words we are going to start with exactly the same
two sounds the n e to say the n sound tip of the tongue
touches the back of the top front teeth air moves out of the nose and then
smile nice high flat tongue for that e and that e is nice and long
knee knee and yes we do have a silent k here which we are not going to
say to end the word that's where we have the
difference for nice we are going to have what we
call the soft c which is pronounced as an s
and to do that tip of the tongue is behind the top front teeth are pointing
down air continuously moves out ssss ssss
niece niece niece now for knees
your tongue is going to do exactly the same thing as i described for the s it's
either behind the top front teeth or pointing down it is not touching the
difference is your voice box is on moving and
vibrating for that z sound zzzzz
putting the voicing on for that z sound is going to make the e
before it sound a little bit longer all right so let's put these all
together we have niece
and knees niece knees niece niece
niece knees knees knees and now for a sentence
my niece fell and skinned her knees give it a try people are going to notice
the difference if you found this helpful we'd love
