  • The European Parliament has voted to waive immunity for Catalonia's former regional head of government, Carles Puigdemont, along with two other separatist politicians.

  • Lawmakers voted comfortably in favor of stripping him and former Cabinet members Tony Common and cloud upon city of their immunity from prosecution waiver of the immunity that takes the trio a step closer to extradition to Spain, where they are charged with sedition.

  • They are wanted there because of their role in organizing a 2017 independence referendum deemed illegal by Spanish courts.
