I was elected by the people of the state of New York.
Powerful New York Democrats joined the call for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign after a series of sexual misconduct allegations against him in recent weeks.
US Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, along with Alexandria, Ocasio Cortez, Jerry Nadler and several other Democratic Congress members from New York insists the three term governor stepped down.
A statement released by Ocasio, Cortez and Jamal Bowman, a congressman from New York, called out the governor's actions and said the allegations against him have all been quote consistent and highly detailed.
Their statement also notes the other scandal surrounding Cuomo his handling of data on nursing home deaths during the pandemic.
Cuomo on Friday said he would not resign and once again denied the allegations against him, adding that he would not be a victim to quote cancel culture.
This comes as 1/7 woman has now come forward Friday, accusing the New York governor of inappropriate behavior.
The new calls for his resignation comes a day after the New York State Assembly speaker call Hasty said he had authorized its Judiciary Committee to start an impeachment investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations.
The panel's investigation will run parallel to one being led by state Attorney General Leticia James.
Cuomo has asked the public to await the results of that investigation before making any judgment.
