Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles hey all jennifer from tarle speech with your pronunciation question our question today is how do i pronounce the word automatic which means that you are doing something without human control here we go automatic we have that sneaky flap t in here what does that mean that's that sound that sounds like a really fast d sound you do not have to say that sound if you don't want to you can continue with the t everyone will understand you and that is great because that's what it's all about just being understood but if you want to say it like you hear most americans say it um and if you don't this lesson is just good because it'll help you with your listening a little more you can say it this way we're going to start with the syllable odd and to do that open your mouth wide andin oval tip of the tongue is down back of the tongue is pulled up and then move to that d sound d odd next add the short uh sound that schwa syllable relaxed mouth relaxed tongue up next move to mad to do that lips together and the air is moving out of your nose for that m add the ah open and in a round circle tip of the tongue is down back of the tongue is pulled up and again there's another d in there d then end with ick short i sound your mouth your lips are slightly pulled back and the i the tongue is just below the top teeth and then end with the k to do that you're going to point that tip of the tongue down and the back of your tongue will be nice and high let's put that all together odd a mad dick automatic automatic automatic automatic i hope that all of your practice leads to automatic speaking without thinking too much so give it a try i know people are going to notice the difference if you found this helpful please give us a like and a share check out our products on google play and itunes and all of our class options at tarle speech thanks everyone
