Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Hey guys! Welcome back to Lavendaire. I am sweaty from dancing around for that intro, so I hope you liked it. Today I'm going to talk about positive habits that will change your life. I thought I'd do this one standing, have a little more energy. As you know, we're doing the Habits mini-series right now, and I've shared a ton of habits that have changed my life. I'll list my entire Positive Habits playlist down below. Today I'm going to share five positive habits that I know, for sure, will change your life. And if you've heard some of these before, it's because they're that important that they're worth repeating again and again. And I will keep repeating it until every single person in the world will live with habits like these, okay? So the first positive habit that will change your life is to: Stop playing the victim; stop complaining; stop blaming others for your problems or for anything that happens in your life. At the end of the day, no one's life is perfect. We're all dealt a different set of cards, and it really is up to you to do what you can with what you have, including your problems or your shortcomings and any of that. It's up to you to use everything – your gifts, your strengths, and your problems – to create something of value, to create something good and beautiful in the world. And it's up to you to be kind despite anything horrible that's happened to you. Another way to say this is: You have to take responsibility for yourself and for your life because you are in control. You are in power of your life and you can shape your life as much as you want to shape it. Some people just live in that mindset like "I'm poor" or "I'm broke" or "I wasn't born with all of these things." "Life gave me a bad hand." And they complain and they blame others for their problems. But at the end of the day, nobody's going to change your life but you. So you can either complain about it and do nothing. Or go out there, learn, experience, and improve yourself so that you can get better, create a better self, and create a better life for yourself. One resource that I highly, highly recommend you guys check out is Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett-Smith, and it features the whole Smith family. I'll link the episode down below where they talk about stepping into your control and learning to take responsibility for your life. It's so good. The second positive habit that will absolutely change your life is: Reading books. I know it's a little obvious and I've said this many times, but honestly, who is reading every single day? Comment below if you have a habit of reading every single day. I'll be honest. I've been on and off of reading, but when I do, and when I'm consistent with it, I'm impressed with how many books I can get through in a month or a year. And it really is – small, consistent actions will add up to a huge amount. If you told me to read 50 books at once, I'd be like, "Oh my god, I can't do that. That's impossible." But if you told me to read ten pages a day, every day, I could do that – it's doable. And eventually, you will have read 50 books. And within even one book is a lifetime of knowledge. There's so much wealth in one book, and there's so many great books out there. I'll list my Favorite Books website page where I list my favorite books, and you can start there. There's just so much out there to learn, so much to... No other word for it, but reading is amazing. Go read some more; it will change your life – positive. The book that I'm currently reading, I highly recommend. It's called "The Richest Man in Babylon". I mentioned this on my Instagram, if you follow me. It is a book that is actually pretty old. It was written in the 1900s or something, and it is set in ancient Babylon. It teaches you all of these financial habits, financial wisdom. And it's a book that I truly believe every person out there must read. Because I feel like a lot of people complain that they're poor, they don't know how to make money, they don't know how to keep money, they don't understand why some people are so wealthy and some people are not. And it really is knowledge. The money is out there for you to make, and if you have the knowledge of how to get it, how to keep it, how to grow it, then you'll be so much better off than most people in this world. You'll be financially free, which is what I want for all of you out there. So read this book: The Richest Man in Babylon. The third positive habit that will change your life is: Cultivating more gratitude in your everyday life. This is the one that I repeat over and over again because if you are not practicing daily gratitude, you need to, because if you wake up grateful for each day and end your day grateful for your day, grateful for your life, everything that you have, you'll be infinitely happier of a person. Just because gratitude is the key to happiness, it is just something that we forget sometimes. We brush over gratitude like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm thankful BUT I want more, more, more. I want to get this, and I want to get that." We're so focused on our desires and what our ego wants. But if you take a step back and truly take time to be grateful every single day, it will definitely change your life, and that's why, in my Artist of Life Workbook and in my Daily Planner, I have a gratitude journal page, I have the gratitude section. It's so important to do gratitude journaling. And it doesn't have to be hard. It could just be like, in the morning you state three things you're grateful for or you do that in the evening, or you just write in your journal, a few things you're grateful for each day. And each day, come up with different things. Be specific. And you find that the more that you list that you're grateful for, the more you have to be grateful for. It's kind of like what you focus on grows. So if you focus on your gratitude, it's gonna grow, and it naturally will bring more abundance and positivity into your life. #4 is Meditation. This is a habit that I've been doing for the past five or six years, but it's still tough for me to do it consistently each day. But when I am good at meditating, I notice I sleep better, I'm less stressed, I'm more in-tune with my body and my purpose, I'm more aligned to what I want, I get creative ideas more often, and I'm able to enter the creative flow and be really productive. There are so many benefits to meditating. And if you feel off, if you just feel distracted and if you find yourself being on social media a lot, wasting a lot of time, try meditation because that will help you hone your mind. If we don't hone our mind – it's like a muscle – you lose it. And when your mind is not strong, you give in to distractions easier. You give in to your ego easier. I find that it gets easier to emotionally eat or get stuck on Instagram when I haven't meditated. That's because you haven't trained your mind. You want to develop this habit to train your mind, to be zen, peace, bring it all back to yourself. I keep doing this motion because you want to be grounded. Meditation helps you ground yourself, and there a billion benefits, guys. You should try it if you're not doing it already. Not to mention that meditation helps you strengthen your intuition. If you're an indecisive person or if you're lost or frustrated about your life, then meditating will help you get to know your inner voice, and that true inner voice will become stronger and louder so that you'll for sure know what is the next right decision for yourself. And the fifth positive habit that will change your life is to stop taking yourself and your life so seriously. We tend to overthink, overanalyze, and worry so much. We get stressed out so much and we think that it's the end of the world if this doesn't happen. And we're so caught up in the little things of life that we forget that, in the bigger picture, if you zoom out, many things are insignificant. Most things are insignificant. The only things that matter are love, the people you love, the things you love, and finding joy in your life. We all just want happiness. And if you just want to be happy, then have more fun in life. To have more fun, don't take things so seriously. Be carefree, be more light-hearted. And I know this is easier for some people than others, but I think you can really cultivate that as a muscle too - the muscle of being more carefree and relaxed and finding joy and humor in all the little things in life. Have you ever seen those videos of monks laughing at the most minute things or finding joy in the most little things? I think it's because when you truly are attuned with yourself and your spirit, then you find that life is not as serious as most people make it out to be, and more things are funny and fun. What I'm trying to say is: Have more fun, stop caring so much about what other people think, stop caring about how you look to others. Just enjoy your time here. Sing, dance, do all the things that make you happy, and that's that. That's what life is about. And honestly, guys, you might notice that my energy is more light-hearted here because I literally did a five-minute dance session before filming this video. Do you see the difference that dancing and just living in your joy makes? I care less for this video, but I'm having more fun, and that just emphasizes my last point in this video: Do not take yourself seriously. Alright, I love you guys. Let me know what you think of these habits. What are the positive habits that have changed your life? Let me know down below. My favorites – and I'm going to list them over and over again – are journaling, meditating, reading, doing yoga. Anyway, subscribe if you haven't already. Give this video a thumbs up if you liked it. And I will see you guys next time. Bye!
