  • Hi guys, I'm Alessia cara and this is my mom and when you're going to be showing you how to do my curly hair look that you guys see me rock pretty much every single day of my life.

  • She thought we had to do it growing up.

  • So I thought it was only right for her to demonstrate it to us how it's done.

  • And so I hope you enjoy it.

  • First of all, my mom is here because she is a hairdresser, I grew up with her testing out different hairstyles on me all the time.

  • I was like her guinea pig for many years, but she's the one who really taught me how to take care of my hair and how to work with my curls because I have curly very frizzy hair that tends to have a mind of its own and it was always hard for me to tame it and to give it that nice ring lady look.

  • Um and it wasn't until she really started teaching me that I figured out the right way to do it.

  • And even now when she's not with me, I still have trouble.

  • Some days, it kind of does whatever it wants, but here we are, I thought who better to show you guys than her.

  • So right now my hair is wet.

  • I just washed it.

  • So this look is usually best with first day hair, even second day hair, but then I think the dirty or your hair gets the harder it is to make it fluffy.

  • So it's half cone so we can all come this side, we want to be tangle it first because you don't want to ever have tangled curls kind of a disaster.

  • So make sure that it's comb through when it's wet.

  • Don't comb it when it's dry because that's just gonna frizz it up.

  • What I like to do if it's already started getting dries that we went with a spray bottle or just dunk your head in the sink or something.

  • So we're gonna do that right now.

  • Um Yes, right now we're just using water.

  • No particular product you can use like can use like sea salt spray.

  • Huh?

  • Yeah.

  • It's very important though that your hands really wet otherwise won't work hurry this type of hair any way you want to see it.

  • Not just because you know, they can't say they can see the Mhm.

  • Okay.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay.

  • So this is called inner sent and it's specifically curly hair.

  • It's really, really good.

  • Has a nice stronghold and it gives a nice definition to the hair.

  • And then usually put a little bit of this at the root.

  • This is also from an inner sense and this gives a little bit of left.

  • So doesn't go to flat than the roots.

  • The best way to blow dry.

  • It's blow drying away from your head science.

  • I usually put my head back if I'm doing it myself, I'll put my head back as far as I can if my mom's doing it.

  • I'll lie back in a chair or in bed even.

  • I just like go all the way back up something.

  • She looked nice and what this is the moose.

  • This goes just at the roof.

  • Dry shampoo is really helpful, especially when I'm touring and I'm like, just coming off of state, I'm all sweaty and stuff and if I don't have time to wash my hair, I'll just like dry shampoo it or I just learned to do different hairstyles.

  • So I do my classic bun.

  • I'll do put in a clip ponytail but I guess when you're trying to preserve the curls as much as possible, dry shampoo is really helpful and that tends to do the trick.

  • It never looks like quite as nice as day one or two, but it works if you needed to or sometimes I'll go in with a curling iron, like a little thin curling iron and fix some parts that are frizzed to, oh, you want to show them then what I do is especially the top, usually the top is the part that goes freezed.

  • So you just do like that.

  • You just couldn't a little bit create some curls.

  • It drives a nice shape mr gray.

  • All creative.

  • What's something I never do condition condition condition condition as she never does.

  • I do it.

  • You don't have a good time.

  • I know it's hard, I don't have the time to do hair treatments all the time.

  • Yeah, but she always says deep condition, especially for curls dry curls are the worst, so you always want to condition as much as possible do treatments or sort of heat protectant, but I don't do that.

  • Oh, another thing though is doing this like the curly hair going in when it's wet and twirling it at the roots and stuff, especially around the front, because that just makes everything more defined.

  • Excellent.

  • That's another thing that's very important to do this, especially people that tend to have this part of the hair really frizzy, this relievers.

  • Mhm.

  • Yeah, there was one time I cut my bangs off with a nail clipper when I was like, how old is 444, because I was like, oh, I don't want bangs anymore, and my mom was like, well when you don't want bangs, you have to let them grow out, and I was like, no, if you just cut them off then you don't have bags.

  • So I took it upon myself.

  • Yeah, I took it upon myself to, to cut my bangs off.

  • Um It was horrible.

  • Do we don't even think we probably don't have any photos, You probably don't want any memory of that.

  • But yeah, that happened when was growing out, it was the worst.

  • She had this little fuss, like this was insane, okay, now we're gonna defuse it like this first and then she's gonna go a little bit upside down, you're gonna shake it very important when you were a break curly hair when you scrunch it, you do very gently don't we tend to do this, but when you do this, you just disturb the cruel, so you don't have a nice like defined curl, you have more of a mess across.

  • So it's very important when you do it and you do a very gentle without touching and disturbing the curls because once you did it like this, there's no way that's going to go back to a nice to find the girl.

  • Okay, that's it.

  • So see you in a little bit.

  • Yes.

  • Mhm Now after a here is a little bit, almost semi dry, just going to flip your head over and that's when we're gonna start to create some volume in the hair, so alright, going dump it, let's see if it's dry.

  • God, I think it's good in here.

  • So we're almost there, that's what it looks like.

  • It's like three quarters of the way almost done.

  • But my hair takes long to drive persons and so keep, keep trying it, get to finally come back to you.

  • Thank God for the fast forward.

  • Oh, no one isn't enough to shut that man up here.

  • Okay, no, okay, so now it's dry now you can shake it.

  • I know, so you can shake it when it's dry once it's dry, once the curl is there, you can do whatever you want.

  • I always wanted to dye my hair like blonde or like a really crazy color like pink, like the whole thing, like a platinum pink or like, I don't know, done like a something like that.

  • Or like cutting it super super short.

  • I feel like the shortest that's ever been is like here.

  • But I would like to maybe one day just do you like a pixie cut of some sort or something, but I don't know if I could ever have accrued.

  • Um and then here sounds like wish I never tried, I always had the banks.

  • I didn't like the banks but your life.

  • Yeah, I cut bangs one time my mom didn't like them because I didn't take care of them.

  • I didn't style them.

  • So then it just ended up being like a bush here because I didn't do it properly.

  • But I would like to try them again.

  • Now that I feel like I've learned a little bit more about here.

  • This is project that everyday look, what would you do every day?

  • Just watch this side it and that's it.

  • Yes, this would be every day.

  • Even when I do my everyday, it doesn't look as good as this.

  • I wish I had her all the time.

  • Yeah.

  • So I guess we could show you what we do if you want a little like a step a little bit up with spray and curling iron.

  • If you want an even more defined sort of proving curl.

  • Yeah, so you should get into her pieces and you see the end of the pieces, Sorry Lord World for a few minutes.

  • Mhm just going like that.

  • You do a couple of this everywhere.

  • Let it cool off again.

  • Never touch it when it's hot because he will disturb the natural curl.

  • Mm The top of my hair is not as curly as the bottom.

  • So I find myself having to fix a couple at the very, very top for some reason, is that usual?

  • Really, it's just because you do have fine hair.

  • So you don't have the body, You have a lot of hair where you have fine hair.

  • So that's where it tends to be kind of flat to your head and then curry and the rest.

  • Yeah, like under here, most of the people who curly hair, we have that problem.

  • Yeah, it goes so curly at the bottom and then just like the first layer of here is like just freezing.

  • I liked having blondish hair for a second in my last year of high school.

  • Um that was really fun because I don't know, I just looked really cool.

  • I had like an ombre, it's sort of like almost like my mom's hair color now, which was really fun.

  • I don't know if I would do it again because I don't want to damage it.

  • I had purple highlights for a second.

  • That was fun.

  • You had that, you know, I had blue for the universe.

  • Yeah, that was fun.

  • Too little highlights.

  • I mean, even just these last videos that we did like this sweet dream video?

  • I had like this huge beehive on my head, which was fun to do.

  • I had a lot of fun of your house and like wigs and stuff for that.

  • I always used to have this like, not argument with my mom, but like every time you do my hair as a kid, even now I was like, hey, when my girls were too perfect.

  • So I always used to ask her to like, you know, separate them.

  • Well, you always separated in that, but I mean it goes up to me, I'd just mess it up all the time.

  • But you get so mad if I mess my hair, if I touch it early, it's supposed to be curly, it's freezing.

  • Then you do a freezing.

  • Look, this one here is from United and can you see it?

  • It's max hold very strong smell because you're just playing in most places, you know?

  • And then after I do it, she puts her hand in there and she Yeah, yeah.

  • And so she guys, after, I always do that.

  • I can only have one hair product.

  • I'd probably pick um either my diffuser that's not a product, but the diffuser alone is like so, so helpful for curly hair.

  • So I would either take that or maybe the inner sense gel or is it big?

  • This one, I feel like it just, it smells so good and it makes my hair really nice and chinese.

  • So you probably picked that one.

  • What about you?

  • What would you say?

  • They're probably yeah.

  • The gel.

  • Always the joe.

  • Yeah, we have the exact same here.

  • Type right now.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • There.

  • That's it.

  • There you go.

  • Thanks mama.

  • Here it is guys.

  • The currently, I don't know what to call it.

  • My curly hair do done by my mom when you try it out.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Mhm.
