hello and greetings from munich germany today we're going to be taking you on a mouth-watering
german food tour across the bavarian capital if you've been watching this channel for a
while you may already know that sam and i love experiencing a new destination through its food
and munich was no different the skin is nice and crispy probably my favorite thing about it
over the course of our visit we set out to try as many german dishes as possible in this video
we'll be trying german roast pork knuckle with potato dumplings this is a really nice hearty
meal oktoberfest chicken coated in pretzel crumbs goulash with bread dumplings a snacking board
featuring all sorts of cheeses and sausages and for a little something sweet we'll get a taste
of the emperor's mess pancakes it kind of reminds me of something between a pancake and a flan and
of course because this is munich it wouldn't be a proper food tour without a beer or three
so grab a snack and join us as we eat our way across munich it's going to be a tasty one
our first stop was agustina close to this restaurant is located directly across the entrance
to frauenkirche the main cathedral so it's a super central location and impossible to miss
and because we were there during oktoberfest it was especially festive
it is oktoberfest friends and it is as lively as it can be in munich right now
so hard to even find a place to eat we feel thrilled that we finally have
a seat this is about our fourth attempt to have lunch so this is the oktoberfest beer
sure is cheers i don't even know what kind of beer i'm having the guy was just like
we have an oktoberfest special you want some beer so we're like yeah sure bring it
bring it it's good for lunch we ordered the case of spatzle the noodles with the cheese
and some kind of special oktoberfest chicken handle so we wait okay so i'm trying which
technically sam ordered but i love this dish super cheesy noodles cool the chicken is here
homemade noodles with a super cheesy creamy sauce and fried crispy onions on top this is a classic
here down in bavaria you must try if you're coming to munich germany right must try german dish
yeah it reminds me a little bit of gnocchi like if i had to compare it to something
came with a little salad and sam has a lovely looking chicken over there as well
all right the music's just started up the party is going and i've got a party on my plate too
this is a typical oktoberfest dish i've heard so we've got basically a breaded chicken with pretzel
on the outside i mean i can feel how crispy that is just by piercing it with the fork
yeah pretzel crumbs yeah pretzel crumbs looks like i got something like a like a tartar or mayo sauce
and then over here potato salad with radish so let's dig into this
oh wow look at how crispy that is try it duncan in the sauce a bit that first bite
that is amazing the contrast between the crunch
and the tenderness amazing texture now i've gotta try the salad oh
a nice accompaniment to the chicken but this is the star for sure no doubt
ho ho i'm putting on a bit of a belly here in germany even though we're walking a lot every day
the food is just so good so rich it was fantastic both dishes were really good the beer was so nice
that oktoberfest beer and just the lively atmosphere and the music it just made for a
special experience i mean to be here in munich and oktoberfest is pretty unique it's pretty
special to be honest anyways let's talk about the price so the beers half a liter each were 490 euro
that's per beer and then the spatula was 1290 and the chicken potato dish 16 90 euro
so all together the damage including tax was 39.60 pretty darn good wheat that's like the
meal of the day like we do not need to eat after that so yeah highly recommend
the place and if you can come during oktoberfest you'll have an extra special festive experience
the next restaurant we visited was agustin ram dom
also located right by the cathedral of course more beer had to be ordered since it was
oktoberfest as for the food this time we decided to go for a lighter meal or midday snack okay
i did it friends i did it i got a beer it's bigger than my face check
that out one whole liter of beer one liter beauty for oktoberfest this is just amazing
it's so heavy like i feel like i could do bicep curls with this
while my beer belly is expanding i could be getting a mighty bicep over here but let's try it
ice cold delicious i mean when you're here in munich for oktoberfest
sure you can order your half liter beers but you gotta at least try one of these come on
it's what the locals are drinking it's what the locals are drinking when you walk outside
you see them with the with these one liter beauty so all right guys lunch is here and
today we try to go for a lighter meal if you can possibly do that here yeah right
so anyways this first plate here is called the boost and it is the city sausage here in munich we
had the option of ordering it with a potato salad or cabbage we've gone for the cabbage friends
very very good wow the skin is nice and crispy probably my favorite thing about it that is very
tasty and to go along with the sausage we ordered a platter to share yeah this is a cheese and ham
and sausage and onion and a radish platter kind of like a little snacking board let's see what we've
got here it looks like we have sausage slices of other deli meats looks like there's some pate yeah
here wow pickles tomato it's got it all so and two slices of bread two slices of bread so i'm just
going to try a little bit of what i see here so let's start with this cheese oh yes please to the
cheese to the spreadable cheese shall we put some ham on there as well yeah some onions shall we
load it with onions load it up maybe some radish while you're on it we're getting fancy here guys
bon appetit guten
heavy food or light lunch well they've got this to knock off i've only done half so far so you're
gonna be here a while we will we will now you are going to get adventurous with some of the sausage
we have over here so i'm going to take my bread spreadable mountain cheese so i'm loading that up
nice and thick okay and then what i'm going to do is go for it that kind of looks like a jelly since
is far more adventurous with the sausages look at that yeah look at that and how about some
radish for good measure does that not look like a nice little sandwich let's try that
you like it oh yeah again i just taste the quality throughout the whole spread
the bread fantastic the cheese sauce the radish gives it a refreshing a bit of juiciness and
believe it or not that that slice of meat was pretty good too we've got our work cut out for us
to finish this but we're going to put in our best shot right all right sam you're not falling asleep
after that leader are you i feel like i could france i feel like i could so let's break down
the price here yeah so your apple charlay half a liter 410 euros yeah cause i wasn't drinking beer
surprise i love how they call it the oktoberfest beer so the oktoberfest beer was 980 for a liter
oh that's like a meal in and of itself so then we had the stratwurst the local worst
first the local statwest of the city of munich germany was 8.50 euro and finally that
beautiful assortment of cheese meats pickles you name it and bread was 14.90 for the grand total
of 37 30 euros so i think that was a pretty good deal like we are leaving
all kinds of stuff but um yeah great experience we chose to dine in and what that meant is that
we got a seat right away have we gone outside with the october fest crowd we might have been
waiting for well a really long time so it was good inside would have been even more
fun outside overall great experience great food and this is a very essential location
so if you find yourself visiting munich it's really easy to hit this restaurant up
the next place we ate at was the beer garden at the victorian markt right in the middle of the
farmer's market they had lots of traditional bavarian dishes to choose from as well as some
german classics this is a great option for outdoor dining on a nice weather day hello from a beer
garden hey so we're not just at any beer garden we are at the vic italian marked beer garden and this
is sort of the central market area of munich we've kind of been wandering around for a bit
oh there's so many tempting stores there's all these delis there's fresh fruit oh there's these
amazing wheels giant wheels of cheese and there's also little cafes and little restaurants as well
i saw some people getting a bit boozy for breakfast having some fancy glasses of wine maybe
some champagne maybe some riesling as well and uh yeah it's just a fun place to walk around oh
thank you okay our apple charlene arrived we are doing a beer tour tonight so we figured
let's take it easy saving ourselves for that otherwise it's just a lot of beer for the day um
but yeah normally in a beer garden we will be getting beer this looks like beer though it would
be so easy to fool people cheers with fizzy apple juice the absolute chocolate there you go apple
shortly for the world so we are starting with my dish because the wrong food came out for sam so
we're still waiting for the pork knuckle we really want to try like classic bavarian dishes so when
they came up with some french fries schnitzel and the schnitzel were like it sure looked tasty but
not not what we ordered so this is the beef goulash and it comes with dumplings noodle
gravy
the right food showed up very quickly that's great that means our plate was around there
somewhere you know it it makes me think that someone else is getting their chisel and
is very happy right now yes they probably are and yeah i'm going to try the dumpling
i love those dumplings that's like like a bread dumpling like if you took bread and just like
shaped it into a ball ideal for soaking up the sauce it really is wonderful
yeah and yeah just a very rich hearty savory sauce it's very good wow so we've been wanting to try
this pork knuckle for a while and this is actually the oktoberfest special that they're serving here
at the beer garden i have got two or these are dumplings or they've are i think yours are potato
mine were brown miner potato dumplings i've also got sauerkraut here on the side a sauerkraut salad
i also have the crispy pork knuckle like feel that yum and that's half the pork knuckle i'll mention
the the real one is even bigger but who can eat a whole pork knuckle yeah that that may put me
in a food coma if i ever have a full one look at that nice and golden crispy looks real good
dare i attack the crispiest part attack the crispy pork knuckle oh look at that
that is delicious super super crispy on the outside tender juicy in the middle oh my goodness
it goes along so well with the gravy and now i'm gonna try the dumplings there are with some gravy
that tastes really good too this is a really nice hearty meal
another day in munich germany another massive lunch that is basically our meal of the day guys
we just have such big lunches we don't have a lot of room to eat much else food the rest of the day
anyways um we got a bill and it wasn't like a descriptive one it was just he came by with the
math and it came to 35 euros for all that so that was for the two mains and the one shared drink
pretty good value i mean am i ever stuffed very hearty food and the beer garden really got busy
as we're about to leave we had an early lunch we arrived at about 11 30 and we were leaving it
about quarter after 12 and it was packed so if you want to go for a nice festive fun outdoor dining
experience go check out a beer garden whether in munich or another german city that you're visiting
another restaurant we visited in munich was the Laurin Südtirol to try a very famous
austro-bavarian dessert however beforehand we decided to show you what you can get as part of
a set menu if you're looking for something a bit more international after several days or weeks of
german food okay guys lunch time once again here in munich we've been having a lot of german food
a lot of german beer on our german food tour so today we just found a restaurant that does
international food a little something different and we wanted to show you it because they have
a set menu for 11 euros for lunch per person not bad we got a salad as an entree there was also an
option of pumpkin cream soup and then the main for mine i got the beetroot risotto look at that color
wow that looks so good is it oh crumpled cheese we're going to be sharing
but the reason we came here it wasn't for the mains they specialize in a dessert we're actually
here to show you the dessert it takes 20 minutes to prepare so we've already placed the order
isn't it like a dessert slash breakfast yeah you can have it for breakfast it's called the kaiser's
the caesar's mess and it's this like scrambled uh pancake dish um and apparently they make a really
good one here so that's actually why we chose this restaurant yeah this is just a bonus right now
this is a bonus salmon boy yeah so to continue the international flair i got chili con carne it looks
great i mean i'm seeing corn ground beef got the kidney beans we also have the sour cream in there
and so try to get a bit of everything oh that's good oh today we finally got fall weather
i don't know why i'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt everyone has a jacket on today and
long long sleeve pants but this is going to keep me warm i was a little chilly outside here and
i've ordered the chili to prevent me from being chilly how's that now this is what we came for
the dessert which apparently can also be eaten for breakfast or for lunch so it seems to be
an all-day meal well when you look at the size of it oh my i'm glad we're here look at this so
this is the Kaiserschmarrn the kaiser's mess and it's like a very light fluffy pancake it
is dusted with icing sugar and it also came with this berry sauce and what looks to be
an apple sauce on the other end both let's try this try the berry first so i've had my first bite
it kind of reminds me of something between a pancake and a flan or like a pancake and a custard
like it's got a bit of movement a jiggly texture can we say jello jiggly texture it's very nice
this is very filling it's quite heavy okay yeah yeah i mean we had a pretty decent sized lunch so
we have our work cut out for us to finish this and this is one dish that they recommend ordering it
when you get your lunch like place your dessert order if you're having it for dessert because it
does take a while to prepare and get it ready yeah but very tasty very tasty can we eat this whole
thing that is the question the question well first before i even talk about the price point i have
to admit we were defeated by the dessert it was delicious but we just didn't have enough room to
finish it so something to keep in mind if you are going to order it it's priced like a main and it
is very very very filling so maybe get it as your only thing or bring someone along to share and
don't have two mains beforehand but anyways the price point just came to over 40 euros so we got
two combo lunches we got the chorley the maracuya which is passion fruit and then finally we had
that amazing bavarian dessert that one did us then it was so good i was just thinking like if we just
had one maim we probably could have taken care of it but um definitely recommend it something
to try if you're here in munich and yeah it is not a light dessert after a meal it is amazing
last but not least you may have already seen a separate video we filmed doing a bavarian beer
tour across munich but i thought it was worth including a couple of those clips here the good
times they continue so this is our third stop of the night but fifth beer we're starting to lose
track here um but we are at weiss's boy house and our group's already going in they're going in so
this next place is vice's playhouse which is the oldest wheat beer brewery in all of bavaria
here we had the brew house cold platter featuring smoked meat
liver cheese pickled vegetables mountain cheese bavarian cheese dark bread a pretzel and lard
for spreading i ordered the vice beer which is a wheat beer with a bit of a fruity banana flavor
the final stop that night was the hoff boy house which is the most famous beer hall in
all of munich hof poi house started out as the royal brewery in the kingdom of bavaria
and it quickly became known for its bisphere you definitely come here
for the lively atmosphere where you are bound to meet some merry revelers
roast frost
it is fantastic we've been here in the main beer hall in munich now for a couple hours
it's getting closer to midnight the atmosphere here it's like going to a sporting event
a birthday party and a beer garden of course all rolled into one there's chants
there's yelling there's sometimes some breaking of glass it's just so merry and festive in here it
just has that roar of a of a stadium like you're going to a live soccer a football a baseball game
you hear the roar of of the of the crowd to be honest sometimes you'll be like pounding
on the table doing a song the atmosphere is so electric you have to come here to experience it
even the way i've explained it doesn't do it justice you have to be here to really understand
what it's like to be in a festive german beer hall and that concludes our german food tour in
munich we had a great time eating our way across the city and sampling so many new to us dishes
of course there was only so much we could eat over the course of a few days so let us know what
dishes we missed that fellow travelers must try during their visit if you enjoyed this video don't
forget to subscribe and see you soon with more videos from bavaria thanks for watching choose
