Oh boy. Oh yeah. [Life in Japan Theme Song] Today we are going to talk about our favorite Nintendo switch games of all time. Multiplayer and single games. Here we go. Would you guys say this is your favorite of all time? Maybe. No. Multiplayer - that means 4 players. You guys all play together? Look at this. One of my favorites. One of them. Minecraft isn't just one of our kids favorite multiplayer games, it's the most selling game of all time, so it's fitting that we'd start this video with Minecraft. Oh, Anna, is that the house that you made? Yeah, its a moon. You can play Minecraft on a number of different systems, and our kids most like the creative world where they can build whatever they like. Wow! This is my huge house. This is my huge house. So here's the elevator, the red and the green so I get to go up. And, there is nothing right there and this is my room. Very cool. And up here is my storage room. Your storage room. So whatever you want to store you have to carry up that ladder? This is Minecraft. Sarah you have a magical bridge that just...goes and meets your feet as you go, huh? I'm going to go meet you Joshua. Ok, what's Joshua, Mr A Game. Oh you are going to some lava parkour? Yeah. That's some intense parkour! Ahhh! Oh my goodness dude. Hi Joshua! Hi! Jump! So with Minecraft out of the way, what other games do we like on the Switch? Over the holidays we played a game called Overcooked 2 and had a blast. Essentially you've got to work together as a team to successfully run a restaurant kitchen. Ok, we need just the shrimp. I need just a shrimp. And the fish. Just the fish and shrimp Fish! Shrimp! The gameplay is fun and intense and if there's any communication problems between you and others, it will certainly be an issue in succeeding in this game. I need a fish! Fish! I put it! What is that? That's not a fish. That's a shrimp. We need a fish! You need a shrimp. Oh yeah I do. We need a fish. Ahhh, I'm going to die! You have to work together to complete dishes and deliver as many as possible before the time runs out. Some chefs even put their lives on the line to do it. Oh no! Man down. I'm dead. I'm dead. Times up. How did you do? Except for getting run over by a car. Oh, not good. We should do it again. If dangerous cooking doesn't float your boat, then you might really get into Animal Crossing New Horizons. This is probably one of the most relaxing and innocent games you can find, and our kids enjoy it. Essentially you move your little animal character to an island and begin to develop it with the neighbors while you live there. Skip, skip, skip. Good morning everybody. Now on forest time and it's 9:00. The seasons in the game change along with the real seasons, and the game really develops as you progress. They say money doesn't grow on trees, but in Animal Crossing, it does. Oh! Money tree. How much is it? 10,000? You can even build your own house and style it however you like. Look at me guys. I'm a princess. Look at the Reutter kids! I'm going to get angry at you. My house is not cute. Look how beautiful this is. There's cupcakes. There's cupcakes. You can really see each kids' personality in the way they decorate their rooms. Joshua's all Mario room was quite the sight. Oh, you've got a cool racetrack. And a cool Mario room. Oh, look at Anna's house. Look at all my collection. You she has a kotatsu. Yeah, I have a kotatsu. This is from Airi, our best friend. Can you turn on.. Oh, that is so Sarah. There's a shower is on. You need to turn off the shower. What is the shower doing on? If you've ever wondered what life would be like on a remote Japanese island, then this game will give you a pretty good idea. You even pay your bills at the ATM machine at the local store, just like you do at a real convenience store in Japan. I'm going to do some exercise guys. Exercise. And nothing is more Japanese than some warmups before any activity. Wait, let me do it. Let me do something. Now our family's a big family so not everyone gets a lot of time to play single player games, But here are some of our favorites. Super Mario Odyssey! No Nintendo system would be complete without a Mario game of some sort to go along with it, and Super Mario Odyssey is one of the best additions to the franchise. This really is an odyssey where you, as Mario, travel to distant lands collecting power moons all in order to save Princess Peach from a forced marriage with Bowser. The family has thoroughly enjoyed playing through this Mario game. You need to run, jump and parkour your way to victory throughout the stages. It's probably my favorite Super Mario game to date. He's gonna blast off. So, mommy has a game too, Momma-chan. What's your game? Skyforce - wait, what's it called? Skyforce. I love this game. And she's good. When Ruth gets a couple of minutes, she'll fire up Skyforce and let it rip. You might not guess it, but she can really tear it up in Skyforce. In each level you try to destroy as many enemies as possible while saving as many people as possible. It usually takes a number of tries on any level before you can perfect your attack. When you've passed one level, you're rewarded with more difficult challenges and levels. Throughout the game you level up your airplane until it is a lean, mean fighting machine ready to take on the most difficult of assaults. What do you think of mommy's sky force skills? You're trying to get all the people. No, I'm trying to get "untouched" but I already lost that. Here comes the boss. Lookout, look at that gun! I'm in critical condition. You won't die yet. Mommy's trying her best to stay alive. Maybe? Oh! OH! As we make our way to our favorite games of all time on the Switch, we need to give an honorable mention to Smash Brothers. Anyone who has played Smash Brothers knows they in for an epic battle involving pretty much every character in the Nintendo universe and beyond. I imagine if we had a family of all boys, this would probably be our favorite game. As it is, Joshua loves the chance to get the upper hand on his older sisters, but it's not always so easy. Hey, come here guys. That was a big hit for you Becca. YES! What?? Your little brother took you out. Whoa, Anna! Nooooo! Joshua! The youngest won! You can't see the pose that Joshua just did. It was like this. Can I do one more? You want to do one more? Ok, one more. There are usually multiple rounds of Smash Brothers played, as everyone wants a shot at victory. I'm the princess. Where am I? Oh I'm just... Oh wow Sarah. You're so good! I love this girl. So the higher your damage, the farther you fly when you get hit. Oh no, please Momma! Oh, OH! The next round came down to Becca and Joshua. Who will win? I'm good. Yes, got you! Yes! Whoa!! This time Becca won. Oh my goodness. Oh, that's a good sport Joshua. Way to go. But the award for our favorite multiplayer Switch game goes to Mario Kart. This game is even older than the Switch, but it continues to be a game we come back to time and time again. If you've ever played Mario Kart, you know it's essentially a mix of Smash Brothers and real racing, with great tracks and fun character specials. The races can really challenge you to become a better racer, but sometimes there's just nothing you can do when the game isn't going your way. Daddy is in 1st! I am in 5th. I am in 3rd. I am, I am 4th. My golden mushroom. Hey, hey, hey! It's not done yet. Oh someone is trying to chomp. I am. Come on something better than a green shell. I gotta line this up. Oh no! Go, go, go... ohhh! All in all, it makes for a fun family time that everyone can get in on. Ohhhh! Oh that's last. Good start for me. Me too. Yeah. Oh! This is my shortcut. Bye! I'm in first. I'm in 1st. Oh no, please Josh, please. What have you done? No I didn't, Daddy [did it]. Oh, I ran into the wall. Go Becca, go! Go Anna, go! Go Becca, go! Oh my goodness. Things were so freaking close. Joshua, good finish. Now, instead of racing, imagine you're golfing in the Mario universe, and that's Mario Golf. While it's too early to tell if this will be one of our long-term favorites, we have had a blast playing this multiplayer with friends. Whoa. Not if I want to stay on the green. Not if he was trying on playing it safe. Playing it safe. Things get pretty intense as you navigate the course and save your special shot to do maximum damage. And they didn't give you the nice part of his nose either. They gave you like the folded... Nasty left part to the side. Oh that look good. That's good! Ben-san! In contention. Oh, oh, oh! Stop rolling, stop rolling! You got fringed! Mario Golf certainly isn't traditional golf, but one thing still holds true: lowest score still wins the hole. Oh sorry guys, Wiggler is going to make it. Oh man! Oh, OH! You can birdie if you can chip it in. Yeah. Oh, that was close. That was fun. Saved the round. Ahhh, no points! Wow, now a sink to tie! Don't make it. Be nice to a kid. Man Becca, saved the day. She did. That was too good. We glad that Becca tied the hole, because then the points carry over the next hole, and whoever wins that, wins a whole lot of points! With so many points on the line, things get really intense when someone decides to use their special shot. These shots are very limited, and for good reason. They can blast other players off of the green. Blow us away and drop it in the hole at the same time. No no no no no! Burly Strike! A successful special shot can really blow the opponents away and line you up for a win, so long as no one else uses their special shot in revenge. Seth... No mercy! Game: Sink it to win. He's still in this... Oh oh oh oh! Oh no way!! Oh my goodness! But if Ruth and I had to pick our favorite Switch game of all time, we would both go with the Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild. No other Zelda game, maybe no other game at all, has so wonderfully balanced the best aspects of Japan's unique art style and culture with action and adventure and yet somehow able to make it a Zelda game at the same time. Nintendo really hit a home run with this game. Some people like to watch a movie when they get some free time, we like to play Zelda! Oh man, they're going hunting! Oh yea, I'm going to show them what to do with this thing. Maybe he has shock arrows. Fire arrows, that was cool. It wouldn't be a Zelda game without fantastic places to explore and puzzles you need to solve, and Breath of the Wild is full of them. The more supplies you collect, the more you can develop your character Link until he can take on the most difficult of enemies, eventually taking on the worst enemy of all, Ganon himself. Sometimes the weather itself turns against you, and you have to do all you can to survive. That was a bit close for comfort! If you like a good adventure, than there's probably not a better game out there than Zelda. The story and gameplay is so immersive you can enjoy this adventure over and over again. Well let's get to our destination. OK Dude, back here! It's not just Ruth who gets into Zelda, but Joshua as well. In fact, he can hold his own when it comes to playing Zelda. Joshua, what are you about to do in Zelda? The shield-crazy jump. The shield-crazy jump?! Yeah! OK, let's see it. OK, look on there. Dude, that's incredible! And it crashed! Oh look, and it crashed the game You know how to crash the game for a moment, huh? And then the other trick is about Skyward Sword. Skyward Sword? The Boss. Skyward Sword Boss. Joshua first beat Zelda when he was 4 years old, and since then he's beat a number of other games. He'll even go back to the last battles, like this one on Skyward Sword, and relive them again. Demise!? Oh my goodness! Did you do it? Nope. Not yet? Whoa! Was that it?! Yep. He's done? Yeah. It's over! Enemy defeated. Game won, huh? Game over - for him. So those are some of our favorite Switch games Do you have any favorites? Comment below. And make sure you subscribe if you like these videos, it's a great way to show your support.
