Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles - Hi, Harper's Bazaar, I'm Chriselle Lim, and today I'm gonna show you how I do my everyday waves. (upbeat music) Okay, so typically I try to wash my hair once every three days. I am the type of person that loves to wash my hair, but I really try to avoid it because I do have drier hair texture, which means that the more I wash it and the more I dry it, the more dry it looks. So what I usually do is, I will add on this guy to start off with. This is the One Minute Transformation Styling Cream, it's from Color Wow, and it just re-moisturizes your hair instantly. (hands rub) I'm just gonna add a little on. So usually my ends look really damaged, so we're gonna try to fix that. By the way, I'm getting ready to go out with my girls right now. That's why I have a full face of makeup on, and with my blow dryer, you guys! This blow dryer has changed my life. I don't know how good it is for your hair, it's probably not that really healthy for your hair, but it is the easiest way to get volume in your hair. Because for me personally, I just cannot do that whole thing with the blow dryer and the brush that they do in the salon. I tried it. That shit is hard for me. I just can't, I can't figure it out. Maybe I'm just like not coordinated enough, but this is 2-in-1. It's the blow dryer and the brush, so it's just a one-time situation thing. I almost forgot, which is really important. The heat protectant for your hair, because I use a lot of heat. I know it's not that great. (bottle sprays) But this is Flexible Style, Hot Off the Press from Paul Mitchell. It is Thermal Protection Hairspray. (bottle sprays) So I probably apply a little on, (bottle sprays) so my hair doesn't get too crispy and damaged. (bottle sprays) Okay, from there. (hairdryer runs) (light music) (hairdryer runs) You guys see how much volume it already has given me, like. Okay, so I'm gonna show you guys a little technique, that I do. Don't mind this, I'm gonna fix this. I'm a mom to a seven-year-old and a three-year-old, and ever since I gave birth, I've lost so much hair. And so it's just on top, for whatever reason. My hair is so flat on top. So for me, it's all about getting the volume up here and keeping it up here. So this is what I do. I grab the front, like a really small piece in the front. I get this guy. (hairdryer runs) (upbeat music) (hairdryer runs) I turn it off, and while it's still hot, I get this little Velcro roller. And I keep it on there while I'm finishing up my hair. I will also get this back part and do the same. (hairdryer runs) (light music) So we're just going to let this sit, and let it set, get the volume that I want up there while we style the rest of my hair. You know, it took me a minute to really understand how to style my hair. I've had some horrible hair moments, but I feel like my best hair moment is now, because I finally understand that I finally know how to style it properly. Okay, next up is (flat iron clicks) another heat tool. (flat iron clicks) This one is from GHD Platinum. Supposedly, it's a little better for your hair. I know any heat products obviously are not that good. So I try to do this hairstyle on a Monday. I plan it all around my workout schedules from the weekend. On Monday, I style my hair, and then I try to keep the hair so I don't have to restyle it and damage it, but it's really hard because I do work out almost every day. So I've had short hair pretty much my entire life. There's been years, a few years in between where I tried long hair, I did extensions. It just wasn't my thing. I tried to add more volume in my hair because naturally throughout the day, my hair just becomes more and more naturally frizzy. So instead of trying to make it super perfect and sleek, although I do love that look, I try to go with more of my natural texture, which is volume. I curl my hair from the bottom half down with this iron all around and I don't touch the top. So it just kind of makes this, like a triangle shape. I like a triangle shaped bob. Okay, this is how we do it. We're gonna go halfway in and then out, and then in again. Okay, we're going to keep repeating that. And I like to do this, because it turns out to be more of an effortless curl than those tight curls with a traditional iron, it becomes more bedhead-y, if that makes sense. That's the look that we're going for, more of an effortless bedhead, waved bob look. (light music) How I preserve my hair throughout the week so I don't have to do this everyday 'cause it's really damaging, is one, try not to wash my hair as much, but I love my shower cap. I wear my shower cap all the time, but two, dry shampoo. Man, that thing really helps me a lot. And this guy, the one minute transformation where it re-moisturizes your hair. So you could just put that in, and it's a quick way to add some moisture back into your hair without having to take a shower. You know what I've always wanted to try, what kind of hairstyle I want to try? I've always wanted to try to go blonde. I think Asian girls with blonde hair are so cool. Like I always look at them and I'm like, 'Oh, I wish I could try that. I wish I could pull it off'. I probably can, but I don't have the guts to, and I feel like with my hair texture, it's just going to look ultra dry. So I don't know, maybe one day. And then, this is the fun part. We're gonna take these rollers off. Oh, do you guys see that volume? Yes! Next this is hairspray, which I usually do last, but once these guys come off, I spray it immediately. (bottle sprays) This is the Extra-Body Finishing Spray by Paul Mitchell. This guy. Ooh. All right, let's see how it came out. (Chriselle sighs) Okay, do you guys see this body right over here? Right over here? Usually, it would just like stick to my face, so. I know they say that Gen Z has said that side parts are not cool, but I don't know. I love a good side part. (bottle sprays) I'm just gonna put on the top, where we need to hold the volume, if that makes sense. All right, now (flat iron clicks) we're going to finish off the waves. (light music) I feel like dry shampoo gives me even more volume than anything. So if I haven't washed my hair in like two days, I will usually always start off with a dry shampoo before I go into my hairspray. And this one that I use is my favorite. (nails tap bottle) It's from Living Proof. It actually cleans hair and softens and shine. And, (bottle sprays) I feel like it gives me the most volume, too. (bottle sprays) I also flip my head around. (bottle sprays) Oh, wow. Do you guys see this? Do you guys see what I'm talking about? It just gives you so much volume. I feel like sometimes dry shampoo gives me more volume than actually hair spray. Now what I do is to set my curls, I will use a little bit of hair spray. (bottle sprays) And I'll just do it towards the ends, because I want the curl to hold at the end (bottle sprays) where the volume is. My hairstylist in New York gave this to me. I have no idea what the brand is, but it says here, Air, Arimino, A-R-I-M-I-N-O, it's called Spice Sisters Freeze Wax. But what I like about this wax, I feel like a lot of waxes really weigh down your hair. So what I do is I just get a little bit like this, and I rub it into my fingers. You know, we don't want to look too perfect. I mean, I'm already kinda perfect, so we don't want the hair to perfect. Just kidding guys. So I just like to add it to the ends, and I just like to kind of weave it through my hair to give it that beachy, messy piecey hair look. And that's it guys. That is how I get my everyday waves on my bob. Thank you so much Harper's Bazaar for having me today and walking you guys through my hair routine. I hope that you guys enjoyed it, and if you guys have any questions, leave them down below and I will do my best to answer them. All right. (kiss sound) Bye. (light music)
