  • First, you'll need to set up

  • the Roku app on your phone.

  • It's available for free on both iPhone and Android devices.

  • Once the app is downloaded and installed on your device,

  • connect your smartphone to the same WiFi network

  • as your Roku player.

  • Open the Roku app

  • and tap "Devices" at the bottom right corner of the screen.

  • Then tap on your Roku device

  • or click "Remote" to access the remote via your device.

  • Your phone should now be connected to the Roku as a remote.

  • If you don't see your device,

  • try restarting either your phone or the Roku

  • and then checking again.

  • Now on the Roku screen, using your device as a remote,

  • go down to "Settings."

  • Navigate to "Network,"

  • then "Set up connection,"

  • then "Wireless."

  • Now click "OK."

  • Let your Roku search for a new WiFi signal.

  • When it finds the one you want,

  • select it and enter the password.

  • Once you connect to the new network,

  • your virtual remote will disconnect.

  • You'll need to connect your phone to the new network

  • and reconnect it.
