These tubes are super cool, but I’m not here to look for life. I’m here to look for xenoliths, which are some of the oldest rocks on earth. They can be billions of years old. By analyzing this type of rock and trying to figure out what they’re made of, we can then correlate it with the supernova that was potentially responsible for their formation. Now that’s a big deal, like trying to figure out how the solar system was formed big deal. After 40 minutes of walking on Mars, we made it. We got data. We’re seeing lots of heavy elements like silicon, iron, magnesium and those are very common elements churned up in the core of stars. Okay. I think I got what we need. Let's head back to the Hab. Let us know in the comments if you want to learn more about my mission in a Mars simulation. Thanks for watching.
