Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Good morning from the Valoria III mission on Mars. We are about to go on our first EVA, which I am super excited about. Okay. You got me. I’m not actually on Mars. I’m in Hawaii taking part in a Martian simulation called HI-SEAS. My PhD research in exploding stars has sent me here for two weeks. I get to study these untouched lava rocks, which as you can see, are everywhere. We’re going to be going across lava fields, going through lava tunnels and tubes, and so we have our space suits and space boots basically retrofitted to be able to handle difficult environments. At this point in the EVA, or extravehicular activity, we’ve been walking for about 30 minutes. So we’re about 10 minutes from our destination. If you want to learn more about living in a Mars simulation in Hawaii, be sure to subscribe and stay tuned. Thanks for watching.
