  • one must be at least half cup total of fruit or

  • vegetable in order to be a complete reimbursable meal

  • Offer versus serve allow students to mix and match components, however they

  • like as long as they meet the required minimum component size per grade level.

  • Sometimes the mini lunch items counts as two components, for

  • example match chicken sandwich is one food item

  • with two of the five food components Meat or meat alternate and grain.

  • Separate half cup servings of peaches, apple sauce and

  • pears are three food items that represent one component, fruits.
