The five components at lunch are, meat or meat alternates, grains, [MUSIC] Fruits, vegetables and fluid milk. Offer versus serve allows students to choose and prevent waste all at the same time. Students are allowed to select at least three of the five offer components and one must be at least half cup total of fruit or vegetable in order to be a complete reimbursable meal Offer versus serve allow students to mix and match components, however they like as long as they meet the required minimum component size per grade level. Sometimes the mini lunch items counts as two components, for example match chicken sandwich is one food item with two of the five food components Meat or meat alternate and grain. Separate half cup servings of peaches, apple sauce and pears are three food items that represent one component, fruits.
