Subtitles section Play video Print subtitles Do you know Lightning McQueen's real name? We're about to speed through the answer to this and so much more. Yeah, McQueen! Let's drive into the world of Disney and Pixar's "Cars". Oh, yeah. Woo! As gearheads have noticed over the years, everything in this film is inspired by automobiles, car parts, or motor motifs. The flowers are made of tail lights and fins, the airplane tracks in the sky are tire marks, and the beetles are⏤you guessed it⏤Volkswagen Beetles. When Lightning McQueen is called into traffic court, the ceiling fans are actually engine fans. But perhaps the most iconic car tribute is in Radiator Springs, where the mountains that frame the town are a series of Cadillac tailfins, which are identical to the actual tailfins of the cars built from 1956 to 1963. It's inspired by a real art piece called "Cadillac Ranch" in Amarillo, Texas. Amazing. Of course, "Cars" would not be the same without Lightning McQueen himself. Or should we say... Monty? What? That's right, Lightning's real name is Montgomery McQueen, but this race car whose all about speed wanted his professional racing name to match. I'm a precision instrument of speed and aerodynamics. As for his last name, it's a tribute to Glenn McQueen, a Pixar animator who worked on the film and passed away during production. And what would a Pixar movie be without its Easter eggs? One classic Pixar Easter egg is A113, which can be seen on Mater's license plate. Lightning McQueen's racing number is 95, in reference to the year "Toy Story" was released. And speaking of "Toy Story", the famous Pizza Planet truck actually appears in this movie twice. Once on the highway during a montage, and again in the announcer stands during the final race. If you're a fan of Pixar's short films, you can spot the jackalope from "Boundin'" on the back of one of the motor homes here and the birds from "For the Birds" on this power line. What's one of our favorite Easter eggs in "Cars"? A call out to Pixar itself. The filmmakers added a sign for Emeryville, which is the city where Pixar's campus is actually located. It's even better than I pictured it. Thanks for riding along. You can stream "Cars" any time on Disney+.
