Now the biggest star in baseball right now has agreed to the richest contract in North American Sports history.

Two-time American League MVP Shohei Otani announced on Instagram he is going to sign a free-agent contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Reports say the deal will be for 10 years and a whopping $700 million shattering the record for the largest contract ever in Major League Baseball.

On Instagram, Ohtani apologized for taking so long to reach a decision on what team to sign with, and he also thanked his supporters.

He wrote, "I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved with the Angels organization and the fans who have supported me over the past six years as well as to everyone involved with each team that has been part of this negotiation process.

Especially to the Angels fans who supported me through all the ups and downs, your guys's support and cheer meant the world to me.

The six years I spent with the Angels will remain etched in my heart forever."

Otani has played for the LA Angels for the last six seasons as both a starting pitcher and designated hitter, becoming one of the best in the game in both areas.

He was named American League MVP this past season with the Angels and now will head to the cross-town rival, the LA Dodgers.

Now although an elbow injury will likely keep Otani off the mound next season, the 29-year-old will likely still be a dominant hitter and pitcher for years to come.
