  • Remember the last time you were in this building, you got part of a very exclusive club that I'm very excited to talk to you about, the Five Timers Club.

  • You hosted Saturday Night Live five times.

  • Yeah.

  • That's a big one.

  • I know how much you love us now, and you're a great host.

  • Such a die-hard super fan.

  • You've seen SNL before?

  • Yeah, yeah. I've laughed through many an episode.

  • Oh, yeah. I'm sorry. I'm glad you know it.

  • So, I was like the best.

  • It was the greatest experience.

  • I think it was truly the greatest experience of my life.

  • I mean, other than, you know...

  • I know that you appreciate it, but they give you a jacket.

  • They give you a jacket, a Five Timers jacket.

  • They give you a jacket.

  • And really, to be honest, they don't really give you a jacket.

  • Well, that's what's so strange.

  • And I don't want to blow up their spot, because, again, it's my favorite place.

  • Oh, yeah. They love you. We all love you.

  • But they don't want you to keep the jacket.

  • No, it's a sketch, really.

  • It's like a thing.

  • It's a thing where they're like, you know you're not keeping the jacket.

  • You're just wearing it for the monologue.

  • And you're like, well, not your like.

  • Like, I was like, no.

  • I'll be taking it with me.

  • I'll be wearing it to After Party, and then I'll be taking it home.

  • You wore it to the After Party, and you wore it home.

  • Yes, and I did take it home.

  • Yes!

  • And now it's in my closet.

  • Yes! That's right.

  • They have to be happy, because you're...

  • But they also know where to find me.

  • Yeah, exactly. You're beloved up there.

  • They love you. We love you in this whole building.

  • You know what I have from you?

  • I wanted to show you that I still have this.

  • You made me a bracelet once.

  • Did you remember making me this?

  • Was it during the pandemic?

  • Yeah. It says, Bracelet for Jimmy.

  • And then you signed the Ziploc bag, too, which I thought was very nice.

  • Can you see that?

  • Do you remember?

  • Well, yeah, you guys probably all remember, you know, like, remember COVID, where everybody got a hobby?

  • Yeah. This was your jam?

  • Where it was like, I'm McSourdough.

  • I was making bracelets, and so, yeah, I had to send you one.

  • I appreciate this. Thank you very much.

  • I've been wanting to, like, text you and call you and say congrats, because you won your second Oscar, buddy.

  • Come on, now!

  • Who's better? Come on!

  • We love you.

  • Couldn't be more deserving.

  • Well done.

  • And your speech was fantastic, and just like you, just perfect and charming.

  • You actually were talking, you said that you split your dress.

  • Yeah. You really did?

  • I really did. When did you split your dress?

  • When did that happen?

  • There was a bathroom break at one point.

  • You can see, right? That's a — I mean, listen.

  • I made it a much bigger drama, as per usual, than it actually was, but I don't know.

  • Something happened. I went to the bathroom.

  • Definitely happened.

  • I've said this too many times.

  • I'm sorry, but during I'm Just Ken.

  • It just happened during I'm Just Ken.

  • Ryan Gosling. 100%.

  • Ryan Gosling did it to you. Absolutely.

  • I was so excited, and I —

  • You were dancing around?

  • I was dancing so much, and the dress was kind of tight, and so I obviously split it, and then a woman right before the category came up tapped me on the shoulder and was like, hey, your dress is broken.

  • So I just learned this, and I was like, oh, oh, damn.

  • And then it went to the category.

  • That all sticks in your head? You're like

  • That's the only thing I can think about.

  • Dress ripped. Dress ripped. My dress ripped.

  • I ruined my dress ripped, yeah.

  • Dress ripped. Ass out. Anyway.

  • But it wasn't. It wasn't.

  • It was not. You kept it classy.

  • It was. I kept it real classy.

  • Yeah, you did. You did.

  • We always end up talking about

  • I loved your drive ever since you were a kid.

  • You had a plan. I remember you telling me you had a PowerPoint presentation.

  • Yes. To say your trajectory or how you can get to L.A. and what you're going to do.

  • I thought it was the best thing ever.

  • I found a headshot of you when you first started.

  • How old are you here?

  • I think I'm 11 or 12 there, yeah.

  • And what were you like at this age?

  • Do you remember?

  • Okay. Remember how my favorite thing is SNL?

  • Yeah. Imagine that.

  • Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • What were you like at 11 or 12?

  • Yeah, at 11 or 12. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

  • I was like a ham sandwich.

  • You were. Oh, yeah.

  • Yeah, I'm still — I'm really just going for it.

  • I'm still a ham sandwich. And I've changed so much.

  • This little girl has two Oscars now, so congratulations there, yeah.

  • Come on.

  • Let's talk about your new movie,

  • Kinds of Kindness. Yes.

  • This is directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

  • Yes. Who you started working with?

  • The first thing we did together was The Favorite.

  • Yes. Yes. And then Poor Things.

  • And Poor Things. We made a short film, and then we made this, and now we're about to make another movie together, starting, like, next week.

  • You're great together. I can see why you would do it.

  • And, yeah, it's been such a lucky experience.

  • It's also really amazing to get to work with people multiple times, because you just sort of

  • I don't know. You don't have to

  • No small talk. No, like, you just, like, go for it.

  • You get it, and you go, yeah, I know that.

  • We'll do that. Yeah.

  • It's fantastic.

  • And this is Jesse Plemons, who you co-starred with.

  • Yes. Who we love, as well.

  • He's incredible. He's phenomenal.

  • And this isbut you almost worked with Jesse, right?

  • And didn't you almost get on Friday Night Lights?

  • I don't know if it was almost, but I did go back.

  • When I was auditioning in L.A. when I was

  • I think I was 15 at this time.

  • Not this girl, yeah.

  • But, like, a couple years older than that one.

  • Couple years older than this one, yeah.

  • I got a couple callbacks for Friday Night Lights for Coach Taylor's daughter.

  • Wow. And I was, like, totally devastated that it didn't work out. And it would have been so crazy if I had met Jesse back then.

  • But then we met, I don't know, 20 years later on this.

  • And he's going to be in the next movie, too.

  • No way. Yes.

  • Good. Again, keep it going.

  • It's all good people. Spoiler alert.

  • I love it. Yeah.

  • There's a dance that you do in the movie that's shown in the trailer, and it went viral.

  • And you told me that it was, like, improvised.

  • This is just a dance that

  • It wasWell, sort of.

  • It was basically during Poor Things.

  • I mean, I do this most of the time, but, like, you know, the days get kind of long, and you're, like, waiting for a while, but you have to keep your energy up to do these things over and over.

  • Yeah. So I would just dance around.

  • And one day, I was just kind of doing this dance on set.

  • I think my friend Laura took a video of it, and I sent it to Yorgos, and I was like, here's what we're doing upstairs while we're waiting for the setup or whatever.

  • And then when he saw that, he was like, you should do this in Kinds of Kindness.

  • Just something inspired by this.

  • So I got to kind of choreograph my own dance, which was really fun.

  • And you actually brought that video for us.

  • Oh. Thank you so much.

  • Oh, any time. Sure.

  • It was just sending a link.

  • This is the original dance that inspired the Kinds of Kindness dance.

  • This is Emma Stone dancing on the set of Poor Things.

  • Look at this.

  • -♪ Do my nails, my hair, I'm a brand-new bitch ♪ ♪ Got my face in the glare, got my new look set ♪ ♪ I'm a place we can share, put you on my daily list ♪ ♪ Do my nails, my hair, I'm a brand-new bitch

  • Come on. Who else?

  • Who else is like you?

  • You're so fun.

  • I will say, there is a scene in this film where you have to act underwater.

  • And we've had a bunch of different actors on the show, and I've asked them about this.

  • It's all about calming down, right?

  • Is the trick to acting underwater?

  • Well, I mean, in this particular scene, my hair is supposed to be caught in a drain, but it's like a dream sequence, so I'm not really panicking.

  • But my hair is caught in a drain, so I had to take scuba, like, mild scuba training, to be down at a 12-foot depth for, like, an hour, basically, so that we could keep shooting and not have to go back to the surface, come back here, whatever.

  • I loved scuba training, and now I really want to get certified.

  • I think that would scare me, though, scuba training.

  • It's so incredible. It's like meditation.

  • You're underwater. Everything's, like, really silent.

  • You can't panic. You're literally not allowed, or you will for sure die.

  • And that's the kind of high-stakes hobby I like.

  • I was wondering what scared me, and that's the part that scares me.

  • Yeah, yeah. Yeah, you might die.

  • See, that's what calms me down.

  • No, thanks. Yeah, I'm good.

  • What's this movie back at? We do this scene out of the water.

  • My hair gets caught in, like, a door or something.

  • Yeah, I'd have to be underwater.

  • But you master it, and I think we had Sigourney Weaver on talking about it, and she said she could breathe or not breathe, but she could stay underwater for 6 1⁄2 minutes or something.

  • That's unbelievable. I thought you start losing, like, brain cells at five minutes.

  • I started at a young age.

  • I had nothing to do with scuba diving.

  • But, no, I think she, I don't know, she mastered it.

  • That's amazing. And then she got kind of used to it.

  • She's like, yeah, I like this.

  • I was really priding myself on my ability to hold my breath for a long time, and I was like, I'm actually, like, going to be pretty okay.

  • I can hold my breath for a long time underwater.

  • But apparently, my lung capacity was an issue because they had to put all these weights on me to hold me down at the bottom.

  • And I talked to my friend, who's, like, a certified rescue diver.

  • Like, he got certified in high school.

  • And he was like, that means you suck at scuba.

  • Like, you should barely need weights.

  • You should understand how to control your lung capacity.

  • And I was like, whoops.

  • Because I'm, like, floating to the surface every time I...

  • That's what should happen.

  • That's what I thought, but apparently it's the opposite.

  • You're strapped to cinder blocks under the water.

  • It sounds like, hey, who did this movie over here?

  • Wait, wait, wait.

  • It's very soothing, Jimmy.

  • I highly recommend it.

  • I want to show everyone a clip.

  • Here's Emma Stone in Kinds of Kindness.

  • Take a look at this.

  • I'm sorry.

  • There's no need to apologize to us.

  • The only person you've hurt is yourself.

  • You're the one that's contaminated.

  • I'm disappointed in you, but I don't know how it happened or why.

  • Emily, maybe all this happened for a reason.

  • Maybe it's for the best.

  • Not everyone's cut out for everything.

  • Maybe you came into this world to raise a daughter and live in a house with a husband.

  • No. It's fine.

  • No. It's no bad thing.

  • It's fine. I'm very thirsty.

  • Could I have some water, please?

  • Take care, Emily.

  • Be well.

  • We'll miss you very, very much.

  • Now, no, no, no.

  • Emma Stone.

  • Kinds of Kindness is in select theaters tomorrow and everywhere June 28th.

  • Eva Longoria joins us next.

  • Stick around, everybody.
